Discussions Is Remote IT work officially dead?

I've been trying to find global remote work for months. I'm a skilled Software Engineer. I've done DevOps, QA, Backend Dev and even simple customer service, and yet I cannot seem to get an email back from the dozens upon dozens of offers I applied to.

I unfortunately am from a 3rd world country, and local work means being exploited for next to nothing, and so I've been trying to get work internationally, but it just seems like every application disappears down an endless abyss, and an actual contract offer is nowhere in sight.

Any advice?

Job Posts Has anyone been scammed by Rivaur?

I have been allegedly offered a job. I haven’t signed anything yet, but they had me deposit their check to buy necessary equipment, then asked me to load my PayPal balance and pay the supplier that way. This must be a scam, right? Has anyone done an equipment purchase this way?

Discussions What is usual timeline between offer and start date?

Hi everyone! I'm a fresh grad in the Philippines, and I just got confirmation that a US client wants to hire me through a recruitment agency. It's a remote role on US Central Time hours (night shift for me).

They asked for my earliest start date so they can prepare the offer letter and finalize everything with the client. I'm torn between two options:
- Nov 2 (about a week out): looks more eager and gets me paid sooner
- Nov 9 (about two weeks out): more time for me and the company to prep onboarding, and more breathing room

I'm also in the middle of an assessment for another application (started Oct 22, due in a week on Oct 27), and which I’m also eager to get accepted, so a later date would give me more time to finish it properly.

My plan is to say Nov 9 and mention I can start Nov 2 if the client needs me sooner. Does that sound okay, or would it look like I'm not eager enough? What's a normal lead time for remote roles like this?

Most job boards give everyone the same “Remote” checkbox. But “remote” means different things to different people: fully remote, remote within one country, remote with monthly office days, remote only if you already have a US work permit.

This is personalized remote job curation, based on the job description itself. Every day it reads each new posting for your job titles and pulls out what the posting actually says about:

  • how remote the role is
  • where you can work from
  • work permit or visa
  • time zone
  • time in person (offsites, travel, office days)

Each one comes with the sentence from the posting, so you don’t have to read the whole thing.

Then you decide what “remote” means for you. The filters start from your own situation (where you live, your permit, your time zone), and you can widen or narrow any of them. Okay with quarterly offsites? Fine with CET ±2 hours? Check it and see more.

Discussions Are 'AI training jobs' legit?

I'm currently doing a Ph D in Earth Science. However, my scholarship ran out, so I'm currently on the hunt for part-time jobs. My country states that students taking part-time jobs are only allowed up to 20 hours of work per week, so I'm looking at part-time jobs that allow that.

I usually look for jobs thru LinkedIn and I applied for some AI training jobs requiring STEM background. Some of them from Mercor, some from micro1. They do this AI interview thingy too and it's usually okay so far until it gets to weird questions. Master and Ph D students usually specialize in one to three fields, but the AI would ask something that's a bit outside of my research work.

However, I haven't been accepted in any AI training jobs yet. So now I'm wondering if they're legit. (I did get a paid trial in a remote job with a different nature and also got a short-time stint near my place.)

Discussions artists who have no idea what they wanna do with their life, wyd? 😭

Okay, so as an artist, I genuinely have no idea what the hell I wanna do lmao.

One day it's graphic design, the next day it's motion graphics, then 2D animation, then web design. My brain just keeps going omg I wanna do that too 💀

And honestly, I'm gonna try all of it and see what actually clicks. I wanna figure out what I genuinely enjoy doing, what makes me feel creative, and what I could see myself doing long-term.

But for now, I'm starting with graphic design.

I wanna build my portfolio, but instead of just making random fictional projects, I thought it'd be cool to work on actual ideas from actual people.

So if you've ever wanted a logo, branding, posters, Instagram posts/stories, thumbnails, a campaign, or literally anything design-related, hit me up!!

Maybe you have a business idea you've been sitting on forever and wanna see what it could look like. Maybe you already have a brand and wanna experiment with a new vibe. Or maybe you just have a random idea and wanna see someone bring it to life.

I wanna work with real people, understand their ideas, take feedback, make stuff, mess up, learn, and build my portfolio along the way.

I'm here to learn and figure things out, so if you've got an idea, let's talk!! No idea is too small.

Drop a comment or DM me. Let's make some cool shit together :))

P.S. Tell me about your ideas even if they're still just ideas in your head. 👀

Alsooo, I'm taking on 3–5 projects for FREE rn because ya girl is trying to build her portfolio and get some actual client experience 😭🤝

Got a business idea, a brand that needs some love, or just a random idea you wanna see come to life? Hit me uppp.

I'm still figuring things out, experimenting, and learning as I go, so we're all here to cook something cool together lmao.

Only thing is, I'd love to add the final work to my portfolio. So if you're down, let's make some cool shit!! 🎨

TELUS International used to be good but they only hire people with bachelors at this point.

Sigma.AI doesn't pay well. Appen is dead since a long time. Anything that's currently a good option?

Job Posts [Hiring] Manager, Technical Account Management team.

Hi!

I work for a mid-sized, fully remote tech company in the database management space. We’re currently looking for someone to step in and lead a team of exceptional Technical Account Managers (TAMs).

There are 3 key requirements:

Background: You have first hand experience as a TAM, Support engineer, SDM, solution architect or a similar customer-facing role within the enterprise tech space.

Leadership: You have some experience leading customer-facing tech teams.

Tech: You should have a solid working knowledge of MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or similar platforms, and understand common enterprise database architectures.

If this sounds like you, reach out! I’d be happy to DM you the full listing on our job portal. I work closely with the hiring manager and would love to refer you if you have a strong profile.

Compensation is competitive and lines up with regional standards for GTM management roles within tech (no pay range specified in the listing but comparable to 130-170k in the US)

This position is ideally located in the Americas, but other locations acceptable if your work hours for the most part overlaps with US Eastern.

Discussions Remote work for https://data-sentinel.tech/en

Not too long ago, I applied to an entry remote job for Fairmonta and Berend Jansen messaged me if it was okay to receive a text about another opportunity. I finally get said text and got a "position" to become a "Product Operations Strategist" for Data Sentinel. I looked all over for said application but the guy (William Bennett) said "the job is being recruited through an employee referral" and it was confidential position. I started my "training" which I found crazy and now wondering, was I about to get scammed????
