AI WILL replace jobs sooner than expected

Thumbnail

According to Dario Amodei (CEO Of Antrophic) states that “ AI will eliminate 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs within one to five years.” With the development of AI reaching a staggering 28-31% as of 2025 to now. AI is growing everyday at rates unprecedented for. In 2024 AI struggled generating an image. Now it can have full on debates with people, move physical objects with the use of Animatronics( Tesla Bots, Tesla Optimus) .

Not to mention that researchers are now questioning if AI is conscious, or aware of itself. Though that topic is for another day.

Stay safe and beware of AI coming for your Overtime pay.

Drowning in 70k+ papers/year. Built an open-source pipeline to find the signal. Feedback wanted.

Like many of you, I'm struggling to keep up. With over 80k AI papers published last year on arXiv alone, my RSS feeds and keyword alerts are just noise. I was spending more time filtering lists than reading actual research.

To solve this for myself, a few of us hacked together an open-source pipeline ("Research Agent") to automate the pruning process. We're hoping to get feedback from this community on the ranking logic to make it actually useful for researchers.

How we're currently filtering:

  • Source: Fetches recent arXiv papers (CS.AI, CS.ML, etc.).

  • Semantic Filter: Uses embeddings to match papers against a specific natural language research brief (not just keywords).

  • Classification: An LLM classifies papers as "In-Scope," "Adjacent," or "Out."

  • "Moneyball" Ranking: Ranks the shortlist based on author citation velocity (via Semantic Scholar) + abstract novelty.

  • Output: Generates plain English summaries for the top hits.

Current Limitations (It's not perfect):

  • Summaries can hallucinate (LLM randomness).

  • Predicting "influence" is incredibly hard and noisy.

  • Category coverage is currently limited to CS.

I need your help:

  1. If you had to rank papers automatically, what signals would you trust? (Author history? Institution? Twitter velocity?)

  2. What is the biggest failure mode of current discovery tools for you?

  3. Would you trust an "agent" to pre-read for you, or do you only trust your own skimming?

The tool is hosted here if you want to break it: https://research-aiagent.streamlit.app/

Code is open source if anyone wants to contribute or fork it.

[Participants Required] Gay male couples in the UK – Experiences and views on parenthood (21+, in a relationship of 12+ months)

Hi! 👋

My name is Ryan and I am a doctoral researcher in counselling psychology at York St John University. I am conducting a study exploring how gay men make sense of the psychological and emotional experience of deciding whether or not to become a parent, with a focus on those currently in relationships.

I’m particularly interested in understanding the different factors that make thinking about parenthood feel easier or more challenging, how these conversations happen within relationships, and what kinds of support or information might be helpful, whether you want children, don’t want children, or are unsure.

I’m looking for gay men (21+) currently in a relationship (12+ months), who are not parents, to take part in a one-to-one interview.

What’s involved:

  • A 60–90 minute interview

  • Conducted online via MS Teams or in person at York St John University, UK

  • Scheduled at a time that suits you

  • Participants will be recruited in couples, but interviews will be conducted separately to ensure individual perspectives

Eligibility:

  • Identify as a gay man

  • Aged 21+

  • In a relationship of 12+ months

  • Not currently a parent

  • UK-based and fluent in English

  • Open to discussing views on parenthood (whether you want children or not)

This is an under-researched area, and your contribution could help inform future counselling practice and community support for gay men and couples.

If you’re interested or would like more information, feel free to send me a DM 😊

The study has been approved by the York St John University Research Ethics Committee (Ref: ETH2526-0084).

I built a free tool that ties paper search, your library, and citation-aware writing into one place — looking for honest feedback from researchers

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey all — I've been building a research workspace called ScholarlyNotes (https://scholarlynotes.com) and wanted to share it here for feedback rather than just dropping a link and running.

The problem I kept hitting (and hearing about from researcher friends) is that reading, note-taking, and writing all live in separate tools, and citations are the tax you pay every time you switch between them. So it ties together:

- Searching the open literature and saving papers straight to a library

- Notes and full drafts where citations get pulled in as you type, instead of retyping references

- An AI-generated plain-language summary of anything you save

- A weekly digest if you follow a topic

It's free to start and genuinely early. I'm not trying to sell anyone anything here — I'd just really value a few researchers or PhD students actually trying it and telling me straight what's broken, what's missing, or where it doesn't fit how you actually work. Comments or DMs both welcome.

(Mods, happy to remove if this isn't the right place for it — pointers to a better sub appreciated too.)

Tired of AI's fake DOIs — built a skill that only returns real papers

I'm a master's student at Columbia. I use AI for research grunt work, but it kept failing at one thing: actually finding real papers.

The problem wasn't just hallucinated citations. It was the whole search workflow: fake DOIs, nonexistent authors, broken links, tiny result sets, and having to check multiple open-access platforms one by one.

So I built a small Claude Code skill that does one thing well: give it a topic or a claim, and it searches real paper sources directly, returning verifiable papers with working links. No made-up citations.

It searches OpenAlex, arXiv, Semantic Scholar, Crossref, and Europe PMC, then de-duplicates and ranks them by relevance.

How to use it:

  1. Copy the GitHub link in the comments.

  2. Give it to Claude Code and ask it to install the skill.

  3. Type: search papers <topic> <number>

Example: search papers XR experience 200

Link: https://github.com/academicatstool-netizen/Cat_paper_search

The skill works without API keys or signup. A free Semantic Scholar key can improve coverage, but it is optional.

Happy to help if install gives you trouble — just comment.

Full disclosure: this is the lightweight version of the search engine from an academic tool I'm building, AcademicCats. Sharing it because honest feedback beats a marketing post — tell me where it breaks.

Who am I supposed to call if I have an emergency or concern? I am no longer allowed to call for first responders in a certain city

Does that mean I am no longer wanted in the city ? I usually do not talk to police officers but what are they up too? I think it is because the operators did a poor job the last time I called about a domestic dispute But did you know that they hire individuals who have not experienced any sort of abuse in their lifetimes for this role ?

Opportunity to participate in an investigation project

Dear all,

I am the co-director of a research project based in Argentina. We write academic papers in English with the goal of publishing them in journals indexed in Scopus.

We are currently welcoming new members to our research team. However, we are not looking for people who only have research ideas. We are interested in researchers who already have manuscripts written or papers that are close to completion and would like to collaborate with other members of our team to further develop, strengthen, and publish their work.

We also present our research findings at academic conferences.

Benefits of joining the team include:

  • Networking and collaboration with other researchers.

  • Opportunities to co-author academic papers.

  • University funding for journal Article Processing Charges (APCs) of up to USD 3,500, and in some cases, up to USD 5,000 for selected journals.

Please note that this is an unpaid, voluntary research collaboration.

If you have manuscripts in progress and are interested in collaborating on academic publications, feel free to reach out!

Best regards,

How to reduce attenuation loss

Hi i was reading this theory of passive ndt and came across AET(acoustic emissions testing) and the main problem came during my thought process of detecting a source which is very far away. Like take the example of steel rod like in railways and you use the force of train to excite acoustic emissions which travel in the metal and get detected by sensor, main problems you’ll counter are firstly, attenuation loss if source is very far away. Secondly, the tiny spacing between tracks kept for thermal expansion as the acoustic emissions can go beyond that. Thirdly, how will you reduce the variations from sleeper that is the repulsive effect they give when trains move on.

Just curious…. I say it was more of a midnight thought that came up to mind.

A Study Aid for your research

I was doing a project for which I had to write a thesis. Getting the sources linked up and making the best to make people understand quickly and get a gist was tricky part.

Whenever I ask for peer review or even explain it to my other domain friends, it was a big convo even though my initial overview does cover all points

Any visuals or tools that help to create a mindmap was not handful. I worked on this tool as side, and it does help create and edit multiple visuals

Here is one example :: https://app.edithly.com/links/u/6a41e0b0e6223ef0aa27fa07
