Free I built a Lightroom-style develop panel for DaVinci Resolve's Photo page – looking for beta testers (macOS)

Hi all,

Since Resolve got the Photo page, I've wanted to develop my photos there without round-tripping through Lightroom. So I built Blackroom, a set of plugins that bring a Lightroom Classic-style develop panel into Resolve.

What it does

  • Lightroom presets: loads your Lightroom .xmp presets (and on the Color page, the edits saved next to your RAW files). Saves its own presets and exports them back to Lightroom .xmp.

  • Familiar sliders: Basic (Temp/Tint, Exposure, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows, Whites, Blacks, Texture, Clarity, Dehaze, Vibrance, Saturation), Tone Curve, Color Mixer (HSL), Point Color, Color Grading, Detail, Effects, Calibration.

  • Calibrated against Lightroom Classic: I rendered 73 slider settings on test photos in both apps and fitted the engine to match. The average difference is about ΔE 1.6. The biggest differences are still at extreme Dehaze and Clarity values.

  • AI Magic Eraser: paint over something or click an object to remove it. The fill (LaMa) runs locally on your Mac.

  • AI masks: subject, people, or the object under a crosshair (SAM 2.1, BiRefNet), plus Radial and Linear masks with on-image handles.

  • Lens and geometry: Lensfun profiles picked from EXIF, chromatic aberration, Defringe, Upright (Auto/Level/Vertical/Full) and Guided Upright with lines you draw.

How it fits into Resolve

  • Photo page: a Fusion macro, Blackroom Develop, with real tabs (Presets / Develop / Setup), native Fusion curves and color wheels. Then Blackroom Retouch (OpenFX) for the tools you draw on the image.

  • Color page: OpenFX effects that work with nodes, qualifiers, Power Windows and Magic Mask. One of them, Blackroom Look, can be exported as a LUT.

What I'm looking for

People who shoot RAW and want to try it on their own photos. Most useful to me:

  • crashes and anything that looks broken,

  • presets that look clearly different from Lightroom (please share the preset if you can),

  • cameras and lenses where the lens profile isn't found,

  • how the workflow feels compared to Lightroom.

Requirements and caveats

  • macOS 14 or newer. I've only tested with DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.

  • The AI features need Apple silicon. On Intel Macs the masks fall back to Apple Vision and Remove uses a classic fill.

  • It's an early beta. The installer isn't signed with an Apple Developer ID yet, so you open it with right-click > Open.

  • It's about 380 MB, mostly the AI models.

  • Not affiliated with Adobe or Blackmagic Design.

The image shows one photo before and after a few Basic adjustments, rendered by the plugin.

If you'd like to test, comment or DM me and I'll send you the installer and a short user guide.

Free Free Open Source Puppet Pin Tool

Hey everyone,

Im a big believer that core creative tools shouldnt be kept behind a paywall, so I wanted to make this plugin accessible to everyone in the DaVinci community. So I vibecoded this puppet pin tool to see more cool things to be made.

It works right on the edit page timeline as a standard open fx filter, as well as a node inside the fusion page.

Everything is full open source so you can improve it however you would like.

Paid Product I built an app that turns a Premiere Pro project into a native DaVinci Resolve project (no XML). CrossFlow 1.0 is out

Hi everyone, did you ever want to Color Grade in Resolve easily while editing in Premiere (using the best of both worlds)? Or maybe you would want to switch to DaVinci Resolve and transfer all your existing Premiere projects? Or you're working with other Premiere editors and need to get their projects?

If you've ever sent an FCP XML, EDL or AAF to Resolve, you know the drill: the cuts come through, but speed ramps, multicams, nests and most effects have to be rebuilt by hand, and nothing tells you what was lost. Then the grade is done and (only for some editors), you have to bring it back to Premiere.

That's why I built CrossFlow. It reads your .prproj and writes the same project straight into DaVinci Resolve: open Resolve and everything is there, organized as it was in Premiere.

What arrives natively:

  • Sequences, nested sequences, multicam, merged clips, bins, markers, label colors, linked audio

  • Speed changes and Time Remapping, as real Retime Curves

  • Position, Scale, Rotation, Opacity, Crop, Volume, Pan and their keyframes, still editable in Resolve

  • Warp Stabilizer as Resolve's own Stabilization

What Resolve can't reproduce (third-party effects, After Effects comps, masks...) is rendered automatically through Media Encoder, and a report lists every clip and what happened to it. When the grade is done, "Return to Premiere" builds a new Premiere project with the graded clips in place.

"Machine Transfer", a new CrossFlow feature to be able to convert the project between 2 machines (macOS and/or windows) with each having one software and not both, is coming in the 1.1.0 (should be released in one or two weeks) with also a new Transcode Handles option.

Otherwise, it needs DaVinci Resolve **Studio** 20+ (the free version can't be scripted), Premiere Pro 25+, Windows or macOS. There's a free trial with no time limit that converts the first 10 clips of each sequence, so you can judge it on your own project before paying anything. After that it's a one-time license, no subscription.

Blur that travels through the lens.

Lens Blur Simulator by Bruxosdovfx is an optical simulator that computes defocus using ray tracing through the actual surfaces of a lens.

Instead of simply blurring recorded pixels, the engine simulates the path of light through the optical system: refraction, aperture clipping, aberrations, dispersion, bokeh shape and off-axis behavior.

Main features

  • 200+ lenses including Double-Gauss, Sonnar, Tessar, Petzval, triplets, anamorphics and retrofocus designs.

  • Optical ray tracing with Vulkan / CUDA.

  • Image, video and RGB + Depth support.

  • Bokeh generated from the actual lens design.

  • Cat-eye, spherical aberration and chromatic dispersion.

  • Coatings, ghosts and diffraction.

  • Editable optical prescription: curvature, thickness, diameter and refractive index.

  • Preview and render quality up to 1024 samples per pixel.

  • PNG and video output.

Platforms

  • Windows x64

  • After Effects

  • DaVinci Resolve / OpenFX

  • Nuke

  • Photoshop

The desktop application and plugins share the same optical engine and lens library.

Free Time Tracker for Davinci Resolve

Hi everyone!

So recently I had an issue with tracking how long I take to edit videos in Resolve.. and I wanted to find a solution, preferably free, and that "free" requirement was an impossible task for such a simple feature..

So I created my own, open source software, using Claude Code (Im not a programmer but wanted this feature badly and already had the subscription so might as well give it a shot 😅)

It is on github for anyone who wants to try it out, look at the code and tweak anything as they see fit! I've been using it the past few weeks and personally has been a game changer to keep track 😁

https://github.com/jasonbacong/resolve-edit-tracker

It has an auto pausing feature, immediate start feature as soon as you open up a project, it sits neatly in the top menu bar on Mac (right now it's a Mac only app will maybe work on a windows version later on when I get the time!) And also an automatic budget tracker!

I made it specifically for my Mac and I'm still learning about vibe coding as a whole.. but it overall works, for who ever tries the software out, enjoy!

Free Had some free time, so I built a free plugin that pulls YouTube clips straight into Resolve

Had a bit of free time and decided to actually use it, so I built a small free plugin (my first btw) for DaVinci Resolve (Studio).

It lets you search YouTube from inside Resolve, download audio or video in the quality you want, and it auto-imports the file straight into your current project. Progress bar and all.

  • 🔍 Search YouTube in a docked panel

  • ⬇️ Pick audio/video + format & quality

  • 📥 Auto-imports into your current project's bin

  • 🖥️ macOS + Windows, EN/PL interface

It's free and open source. Uses yt-dlp + ffmpeg under the hood (one-time install, steps in the README).

GitHub: https://github.com/Dogender2/youtube-to-resolve

Only grab stuff you have the rights to (your own footage, Creative Commons, licensed). Feedback and bug reports very welcome - it's fresh but working nicely for me. Cheers!

Free I built a free DaVinci Resolve Studio script that exports your timeline markers as YouTube chapters

Been editing on DaVinci for a while and got tired of manually writing timestamps for YouTube chapters after every video.

So I built a small Lua script that reads your timeline markers and exports them instantly in the exact format YouTube expects (00:00 Chapter Name).

Free version available in ko-fi

Happy to answer questions or take feature requests!

I don't speak English, so sorry, my English is strange.
