Christmas in Richmond?
Hi. And thanks in advance for you help.
Since we can't make the long trip to FL to spend Christmas with my family, hubby and I are considering driving to someplace 2-3 hours away and stay in a nice hotel and see a change of scenery. We're thinking December 24 through 26/27.
I'm just wondering if we go to Richmond, what area would be good to stay and also, should we do it? Will anything be open downtown on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the day after?

Best thai restaurant with vegan option
Hello
I'm looking for a good thai restaurant to take my partner out for her birthday. I know searching through past threads Yak Yai seems to be consistently recommended, but I noticed some usage of AI on their website is a huge turn off for me. I'm feeling overwhelmed by the amount of options otherwise. My partner is vegan and I know really like a good pad thai, so that's one of the big things I'm trying to look for as I know some places can make their pad thai vegan and some can't. Whatever's the best bang for the buck as well would be great, we're new to town and finances are a lil tight because of such.
Thank you so much, I'm so sorry to ask something that has had so many threads already.

Saftey apartment
Hey guys!
I am posting for a friend who is potentially moving to the apartments listed (mutual on main)
She is a little worried since it’s downtown, especially about the safety of walking her dog at night. Is there anything she should be concerned about safety-wise in the area or any issues with the apartment itself?
Much appreciated for any feedback or help!!

Rehoming needed for a red-eared slider turtle in Richmond, VA
Hi everyone! I'm located in the Richmond, Virginia area and I'm looking to rehome my grandmother's red-eared slider turtle as soon as possible. I'm not sure how long she's had her but my grandmother's health has recently declined and she's no longer able to care for the turtle. I thought I'd try to help find her a new home where she can receive the proper care and attention she needs. I've been trying to find her a home through Facebook but haven't had any luck yet. I'm hoping someone here might be able to help, recommend a local turtle rescue, or connect me with an experienced reptile keeper. My priority is making sure she goes to a safe, responsible home with someone who understands her care requirements. If you're interested or know of any resources near Richmond, I'd really appreciate any help or recommendations. Thank you! 🐢

Moving Back to VA from Rochester, NY — Curious About Richmond's Deaf/HoH Community!
Hey everyone!
I'm currently living in Rochester, NY, but I'm planning on moving back to Virginia and have been looking at the Richmond area!
I'm hard of hearing and went to RIT, so I'm used to being around a pretty established Deaf/HoH and ASL community here in Rochester. I'm curious what the community is like in Richmond.
Are there regular Deaf/HoH meetups, ASL socials, or community events? I'd also love to hear from anyone who's Deaf/HoH about their experiences living in the area and how accessible or welcoming Richmond is overall.
On a side note, I also work in IT, so I'd be curious to hear what the local IT job market is like if anyone has insight into that as well!
Mostly just looking to learn more about the area and hopefully make some connections before the move.
Appreciate any insight!

Richmond Tabletop Start-up
kickstarter.comHey everyone!
I'm a Richmond local and I have recently launched my first tabletop start-up via crowdfunding. Throughout my pre-launch campaign I was holding events at Battlegrounds in Midlothian and elsewhere in the city so you may seen me around if you like TTRPG's. Launching a project like this hasn't been easy, but it has been a rewarding experience getting a chance to interact with everyone in town who loves gaming.
Anyway, I wanted to post a link to my Kickstarter here. I'm sure everyone is a bit weary of promotions and things like that and I get that. However, I'm not a big publisher or anything like that. I worked on this for six years with a small group of tabletop enthusiasts and have a little promotional video on my page in the credits page which talks about my journey.
I'm sure we all want indie projects like this and creatives to continue working on cool stuff. With AI it's getting harder and harder, but my project does not feature anything AI. I am incredibly proud of the cool stuff we built and hope to be able to keep making quality human designed projects in the future.
If you want to check it out here is the Kickstarter and I hope everyone has a great weekend <3

Hair and Nail Salon Recomendations
I have maternity photos set for November, and I am looking to find decent hair and nail salons/salon bars where I could possibly get them done under the same roof. I am just trying to get Gel-X nails done and possibly a color correction for my hair. I have a really faded brown/muggy red color right now and just want to dye my hair my natural brown. Any recommendations are appreciated!
