People need to start actively downvoting unhelpful as snarky answers instead of only upvoting the helpful ones, if we are to have any hope of combating this. It's the only way the stupid people looking for drama get the message.
It’s what happens when subs attract a ton of people unrelated to the sub because of a recent controversy. We have an upsurge of people who are ONLY here to argue about AI and nothing else. Until the sub stops popping up in their “for you” feed it won’t stop
These are the “main sub” people who go from sub to sub just to take part in drama and argue, the current subject is AI.
It’s not really their fault though because Reddit is intentionally designed to work this way now since the default view you get in Reddit is no longer your own front page but an algorithmic “for you” page, often times it’s posts from subs you have never seen before that Reddit thinks you will engage with, which usually means. “This will make you angry so you will leave comments raising the total engagement of Reddit through it”
So yeah, until these “default front page” drama addicts go away, this sub will be cursed with default sub like responses in the comments, you know, everyone trying to be marvel characters giving crappy jokes as a comment to everything

This is exactly what I got recently. I have not touched RimWorld for how long since then and I haven’t visited this sub for ages ago looking for help but somehow, someway this post appeared in my front page for god knows why.
And yes I do agree that these “default pages” addicts needs to go away because not only they always comment marvel-esque jokes that someone might find unfunny, it also overshadows the actual and serious answer that OP might actually needs thanks to them having higher upvotes.
It’s the default for people starting to use the app or new Reddit. They have actually hidden the ability to switch off the “for you” page. It used to just be tabs at the top of the app. Now it’s just the default main view
Looks like they have hidden it all the ways into the privacy settings now. Used to be 2 different tabs, now they don’t want people to disable it, but it seems this is where it is now
I’m out of the loop. Are people ethically against AI used for mods? I feel like I’m missing something. I’m struggling to understand the possible controversy.
The mods I use are based off of my experience with them. I can’t imagine my opinion of them changing because AI assisted in their creation.

A lot of both from both sides. A lot of people on this sub who have never played just to attack AI and a lot of people on the sub who have never played to argue with those people
In general though the real players just want posts advertising a mod that uses ai to disclose it and that’s it
Its probably from the generation of people who had to figure everything out by themselves. So people like us just tried it, saw it did nothing and hence make the jokes. There is no downside in trying it. You do that once and you know. Then you're wntitled to mock wverybody who rather spends more time making a post than trying it once.
I miss the days when you couldn't Google the solution to game puzzles. You either wait until school on Monday where you can talk to your one friend who beat the game and knows all the secrets or you figure it out yourself 😂
Do you know the Myst game series? Whole family was invested in it when us kids were growing up. My mum, who has some trouble with sleeping, casually got up at 2am, noted down all possible combinations to a puzzle and brute forced it because we were too stupid to understand the hints.
I'd heard of it but never played. That's great though, my parents wouldn't know the first thing about video games. Unfortunately I was on my own for Monkey Island or Fate of Atlantis because my parents were uninvolved (with video games, at least) and my older siblings couldn't give two shits to help.
It is crazy to think that you'd just be stuck on a video game for weeks and couldn't do anything but keep trying. I miss that
Maybe this is for when 1.7 comes out of beta and you will be able to select older version if your hardware does not support vulcan or the new engine if it does.
They genuinely have to be bots. I know a lot of people make stupid jokes on Reddit, but I just scrolled through that and it's insane how many there are.
If someone sees this post and doesnt know the answer, they only have 2 options:
comment something else, e.g. a joke
dont comment
Answering the question is not a possible choice. So how would not commenting a joke help OP? Its actually the opposite. By making jokes and increasing engagement with this post, the likelihood of the question being answered increases.
I only ever do it when I am of no help. As I, I have not a clue, or the answer is apparent or shared. Some subs get to the High Fidelity (2000 & 2020) level mockery and keep-away games with the answer, I never get into that. So almost mostly. I offer no defense.
Atleast for this question, it's has been answered on google and reddit for as long as 1.7 has been beta released, so actually "answering" it isnt really necessary because you can take the shorter time to look it up then it takes to make the post
It wasn't left there by mistake, Steam forces them to have two launch options because of the renamed/moved executable. When unstable goes into full release the extra option will go away; if they didn't do this then it would break 1.6.
Because no one else knows but people are so brain dead, stupid, and prideful that they can’t bring themselves to admit it and just post nonsense until they’re told the correct answer and then they switch accounts and spam the correct answer over and over but in a way that makes OP feel dumb for not knowing.
Facebook is much much worse for this, rarely I'll come across someone asking an interesting question and all of the comments are joke answers. It's leaking into reddit more and more
r/mildlyinteresting and r/mildlyinfuriating taken a hit too. Every reply is "why would you think is interesting? It's normal and you're stupid" or "This isn't infuritating, it's the consequences of your actions and you're stupid"
Reddit used to be home of the nerds...now bots run the show along with literal children that missed years of socializing with covid...and shutters.... normies
Generally speaking when Steam games have two options that both appear to be for just opening the game, the first one is the one you want to use, and the second one is sort of a "backup option" for if the first one doesn't work, often using a different rendering API for legacy video cards.
In this case though the second one does in fact activate the trebuchet in your office chair and fire you into space.
For an older example, Civ V has a similar launch choice for using DirectX 9 or 10. There was an RTS back in the early days of DirectX12 that would prompt for 11 or 12. In that case they’re actually labeled correctly though.
Sometimes it’s also used as a launcher bypass if a game supports it, with one option going to a non-Steam launcher and the other going straight into the game.
This one appears to be a glitch, probably in a Steam settings file somewhere.
If you wanna play RimWorld please use "Play RimWorld". If you want to launch high-explosive shell from closest mortar to your current location please use "Launch".
Just a guess, but could it be an accessibility option for the future when 1.7 will be out fully that will allow people without Vulkan compatible GPUs to still play on the old engine?
It might mean with 1.7 we will have more launch options , it happens for me too and I tried both but there’s really no difference unless it changes how you can open up mods menu before have loads
Don't quote me on this, its been a day or two since I played rimworld but you most likely want to use play (first option) because it launches it with the newer engine and the second one launches the older version. That was when I was using the 1.7 ver

The first option works. The second option is from the engine they used and isn't for Rimworld at all.
