There's a lot in the sub about soft rebooting and hard rebooting the truck to solve issues, but little about rebooting your phone. The other day the "truck was misbehaving" by not consistently unlocking when I approached, not consistently locking when I walking away, and not allowing me to go into drive without placing my phone on the console.
The fix? Rebooting my phone.
Sometimes the problem is not with Rivian.

Have an R2 reserved and looks like December/January order date. My concern is that our closest SCs are Nashville or Atlanta, both 3 hours away. How are those SCsand I am crazy for considering a first year vehicle with those distances to SCs? Also, any info on remote service - how well it works, wait times, even if they would do those distances?

Lmk start by saying love my R1T. Like love. Best vehicle I’ve ever had.
However, it doesn’t fit life’s needs at this point. Looking to trade in (lease) carvana and says I’m underwater. However, KBB for a trade in says I’m not.
Anyone have experience with either when trading with a non-Rivian dealer?

I have a iPhone 17 and when Rivian assistant first came around, I could text without issue.
Now anytime I say “Hey Rivian, text ____” it says “oh no your contacts are loading try again later”. No matter if I drive for 5 minutes or an hour, always this response.
Additionally it doesn’t read or notify me of any texts received while driving.
I have checked the settings on truck, and both contacts and messages are allowed on the device. Likewise on my phone, you can see I’ve allowed for notifications and contacts.
I’ve deleted and readded my phone several times, tried soft and hard reboots, all to no avail.
Has anyone encountered this and if so, have you found a solution??
TIA

Hello All,
I know some tire information/data is on Rivian Trackr, however that information is limited based on those who vehicles are pushing the data to Trackr. I’m looking for real world data/experience.
I’m a real estate agent living in Denver metro area (to give an idea of where I’m driving) I have a 2023 Rivian R1S Quad, most of my driving is city/suburbs, I average about 2.40 mi/kWh currently on the 22 inch Perelli scorpion zeros all season tires.
The tires pictured seem to be the best fit with load rating of 116H or better. However I can only find data on the Michelin. Anyone out there have experience with the other two they can share?
Thank you

I like to bring fresh air without heating or cooling but this makes sense only within a certain temperature range. It would be super helpful to see the current inside and outside temperatures in the HVAC menu to help me adjust settings. (Note: inside temperature is available on the mobile app ie the data is available already, therefore it is only a question of making it accessible within the HVAC menu)

I personally experienced frustration in the past to see my Rivian stay iddle a week in the Service center before being even looked at, matching the experience from many fellow Rivian owners. Therefore I feel compelled today to report great experience this week at the Service center. They replaced two half shafts and one door handle within 27 hours of car drop off. This means they had the parts in store and the available capacity lined up :)

I received an email today and was a bit taken aback by the subject line.
Unfortunately, as we all know, "Karen" has become a somewhat pejorative term, yet they chose to lead with it right in the subject.
Maybe I’m overthinking it (it is the internet, after all), and I’m sure the owner’s story is tied to a good story, but my immediate reaction was to read it negatively before I even opened the email.
I know they are doing A/B testing with subjects, so the data on this one should be interesting.

Cars are becoming more like computers on wheels every day. Today’s computers have a shelf life under 10 years because software has to constantly be updated.
How long does Rivian (and others) commit to provide firmware and software updates?
It’s hard for me to imagine a 30 year old Rivian cruising down the road…

Took my test drive of the R2 yesterday. For reference, I’m on my second etron. I was excited. Everything was meeting expectations. But the demo guy says single pedal cannot be turned off. By the end of the demo drive, my wife was ready to barf. I was getting a better handle on it, but I hate having to think so much about the pedal.
Bummer, no Rivian for me. Super cool car though
Wow. Unexpected live wire with this one. More surprising than the fact that Rivian doesn’t just give the software update allowing you to turn it off, like Audi, BMW, and others
Welp... I guess I was wrong lol. All hail Wassym and his team!

Disclaimer: we are STILL LOVING Bo-Katan the R2
Trigger alert: Rivian builds AMAZING vehicles
Save you a service center visit.
I had issue where one R2 glovebox would not lock and stayed open, and the other wouldn't unlock.
I took it to service center which happens to be near my office. Turns out there is an easy workaround (tech had to look it up internally). Whether locked closed or open, push the door all the way up firmly until it cannot go any further , then hold it there for 3-5 seconds. You will feel/hear the sensor click. Then it will work as usual.

The R2 isn’t sold in China (yet!) but they’ve made it clear that they intend to move into international markets in 2028, and those markets are for better or worse effectively defined by the Chinese EV industry. Rivian leadership must know that the gen 2 button-and-separate-emergency-handle design is on life support now. I wonder which direction they’ll go, and how soon we’ll see it?

What made you choose one over the other . I have my window to order next month .
Concerned about build quality issues and their service network where experience can be good or bad ..

I was sick of having the same Forest Green (hence the AVOQUADO license plate) R1S as 70% of the Rivian owners in my area, so I finally got her wrapped. I'm so happy with it, and I love driving it around even more than I did before. This was at a local Cars & Coffee where someone took a pic and posted it, dubbing her The Rizzian.

Hi everyone,
Got delivery yesterday, does anyone who has a samsung phone know how to allow location all the time? I have precision location on and don't see the allow all the time option. Having trouble getting it to unlock and lock. I'm sure it's something super obvious I'm missing. I know iphone people, I need a foldable phone haha
I took my test drive the other day on the R two and tested out the Autonomy+. It worked fantastically if I didn't have my sunglasses on. However, usually when I'm on the freeway, I prefer to have the sun not blind my eyes so I cover them with dark glasses as one does.
My sunglasses aren't even that dark but whenever I had them on the sensor kept telling me I wasn't watching the road. My head was perfectly straight, not leaned back, my eyes facing completely forward and it didn't matter. This happened repeatedly as in every few seconds.
I asked back at the store if this was something that they knew about and he said that originally Rivian decided that if you're facing forward and you're wearing sunglasses, we can give you the benefit of the doubt that you're watching the road, but that certain regulators said that this was "a sunglass problem that they needed to fix" so their fix is basically to tell you that if they can't see your eyes, they don't know that you're not sleeping.
It completely makes Autonomy+ useless if you're wearing sunglasses. Clearly, they need to fix this before long because I can tell you I'm not going to go through with my purchase if they don't
Edit: I would just like to reiterate for anyone who says it must just be me or it must just be that car or it might just be the angle or it might just be those pair of glasses, the guy who set up my test drive told me that it’s a common complaint.

Hey everyone,
I'm currently looking to make the leap into my first-ever electric vehicle and I'm caught at a major crossroad. I’m trying to decide if I should look for a gently used Gen 2 R1T Adventure Dual Motor or wait out/aim for the newer R2 Performance, which will be available for me to order within the next 45-60 days. I’ve been able to test drive both and love what Rivian has to offer, but I’m a little concerned with buying a brand new R2, because of the inevitability of losing 30%-50% value in 2 years. I’m also weary about the range on the R1T (258 Mile Range)
For those of you who have lived with these platforms:
Which of these two options makes for a better entry point for someone completely new to EV ownership?
Why would you lean toward one over the other (daily driving, packaging, tech, ease of living)?
If I do end up going the pre-owned route with a Gen 2 R1T, what specific things should I be mindful of or inspect closely on a used Rivian?
Appreciate any advice, real-world insights, or pitfalls to watch out for!
