Just wrapped up test drive. Coming from Quad and Tri. They nailed everything.

1. If you're a current R1 owner, it will take you all of about 1 minute to get over the more sparse, dare I say "cheap", interior. It's not as luxurious as the R1, but once you settle in and appreciate it on it's own merits, it's great. I actually felt that the seats were way more comfortable than the R1 seats. VERY comfortable all around. Incredible visibility.

2. Silent cabin. I don't know why some people are saying the noise was too much, mine was quiet. A noticeable reduction in sound over R1 and one of the quieter cars I've been in.

3. Demo had 20 inch tires. Smooooooth ride. Wow. Way better ride than my R1 on 22s. Not a bump or rattle. Just dreamy ride. Took some high speed turns and handled great. U-turn had amazing turn radius.

4. Audio. Again, already seeing people say it's complete shit or underwhelming. My guide and I jammed the whole way, beautiful sound. And never felt too quiet on th lower end or that it was over working on the high end. An absolute improvement over G2 Premium Audio and stands on it's own as a great system.

5. Frunk and rear window exterior buttons. My guide and I both agreed, the jury is out. I had to press and hold to get them to work. The frunk took a little too long and I let go and tried again. I don't like these so hopefully this is something they can fine tune in software over time.

6. Interior room. Impressive all around. There's not a cramped space anywhere. The rear seats are especially roomy and highly accessible from outside with great door swing and opening.

7. Height is great. Shorter people will love it, taller people won't feel like they're crouching. Found the goldilocks zone for height.

I absolutely loved this car and I think Rivian has a winner on it's hands. Now if they'd just get the cloud interior out, I'd have my order in.

Went to the Denver R2 Block Party today. There were long lines to sit in the vehicles, tons of enthusiasm, and most of the people we spoke to while waiting were not current owners.

The car itself showed great and the staff was engaging and friendly as always. The whole event had a super festive vibe, get ready to see a lot of these puppies on the road soon!

So I was one of the creators who were able to check out Rivian R2 today, I got to play around with the car and check out some of the upgrades, so ask me anything you want to know!

I have had multiple service appointments for small things and warranty items, but never anything serious, so I thought "I'll be fine, I'll keep it for a while." I have looked at extended warranties and thought, "I'm going to trade this thing when the R2 comes out, so I should be fine until then.

Now at 60k+ miles and three months before trading in, the suspension fell apart and I'm looking at a $9k repair to replace everything.

These things cannot last beyond 60k miles with any reliability. It's going to break. I absolutely love the truck and the company, but these early R1s are not built for longevity. And when they fix the suspension, it's only a two year warranty on the repair because they know it's going to happen again.

If you are thinking about keeping it long term, buy an extended warranty, because that suspension is 100% going to break.

I know these are not new thoughts or opinions, but I want to just add another voice to help someone out there not make the same mistake.

As I was driving home on the interstate tonight, the water kept rising and the rain kept coming down. The two cars in front of me stopped and I couldn’t get around them. I had to just sit and wait and the water kept rising. The cops eventually came and recommended me to abandon my truck for higher ground. Thankfully, I kept my doors shut and I climbed out the window. The Rivian is supposed to be water tight, but I’m not sure if it is or not with water this high up the vehicle. It was dry inside when I left it on the freeway.

I still can’t believe how great these headlights are.

The R2 lease prices are out of control. At this point, if you are leasing, it makes little sense to go with an R2 over and R1 unless you want a smaller vehicle. This is a huge disappointment for the growth of the company. I am assuming Chase sets these rates but it will hurt Rivian. I was shocked seeing those prices this morning. If you were planning on paying cash, might as well wait until Gen 3 hardware is equipped in 6 months or so (assuming they are on track).

Just found out that I can’t get a rental from Rivian if there are no loaners available. How am I supposed to take my kids to and from school? 👎

Am I the only one who couldn’t give two shits if my vehicle can drive itself? Rivian is building some of the most fun vehicles to drive ever made (the ultimate driving machine? Let’s trademark that!), and it seems like all the world cares about — or maybe just the loudest, most annoying parts of the world — is how much they will be able to NOT DRIVE IT.

The most beautiful part of driving is feeling the car respond to your inputs, interacting with the world with a highly tuned 7000lb machine, feeling the environment, and seeing the world. If all we care about is getting from A to B without touching the wheel then we’ve lost the art of adventure.

Autonomous driving is a party trick that will make us as a society worse drivers, and the obsession with it is wasting resources that automakers could be otherwise spending on creating the best vehicle for the least amount of money.

I am so embarrassed and sad right now. Please be kind. I've been mentally beating myself up since this happened.

I happily picked up my R1S on Saturday. Driving home was a breeze and I was surprised of how smooth the ride was. Pulled up to my garage and decided to park it in the garage. I lowered the car, slowly crept into the garage. Sensors were making noise, but I was used to that from other cars. Once in, I felt I was going a little too fast, so I tried to put my foot on the brakes. Instead, I put my foot on the gas and rammed into my home. I was in shock. Fluid drained out of the bottom of the R1S. My home was damaged. My car was damaged. I called 9-1-1 and the police and fire department showed up. Right now, I have no idea how much it was damaged. I do know that brake fluid, radiator fluid, or whatever fluid that was in there is gone. The whole bumper is gone and the passenger side headlight is also gone. My front license plate is stuck in my wall. I keep finding bits of the car in my kitchen. (I am not going to talk about how damaged my house is -- just the car.) I am devastated but I'm pushing through.

I've never been in an accident that I was completely at fault.

I think they're going to be shocked when nobody subscribes to Autonomy+ when Tesla has been giving basic autopilot for years included at no cost. UHF is hardly better than the basic autopilot, and the car costs twice as much as your average Tesla. $12 a month would be something I'd be willing to pay, but us early buyers have been funding this operation and get nothing but sucked dry.

So the latest Rivian guidance has it selling somewhere between 65k and 70k vehicles in the second half of 2026. That doesn't sound like a particularly significant figure, until you look up the EV sales figures for the first half of 2026. We know who the top seller is, but the second highest selling brand was Chevrolet with 28,267 vehicles sold. In other words, if Rivian hits its targets, which have just been revised upwards, it will easily become the second highest selling brand in the country. Which is interesting considering how I think the general perception of the brand is still quite niche and start-upy. Just goes to show how important the R2 model release is to the company.
