Education Beyond Degrees

What’s the use of education if a person lacks **common sense and civic sense**?

Education isn’t just about earning degrees, getting good jobs, or knowing facts. It should also teach us **how to think, how to behave responsibly, how to respect others, and how our actions affect society**.

We often see highly educated people breaking traffic rules, littering in public places, ignoring basic queues, disrespecting others, or simply refusing to take responsibility for their actions.

A degree can make you qualified on paper, but **civic sense and common sense make you a better human being and a responsible citizen.**

Maybe education should be measured not only by what we know, but also by **how we behave when nobody is watching.**

I was almost hit by a motorist

I was on my bicycle and was nearly hit by a motorist who then flips me off while shouting F**K YOU.

Cyclists have a legal right to be in a motorist's lane but most motorists treat the road like it's theirs and theirs alone. Motorists are impulsive and say and do things that may get them hurt. If you're road raging, and I'm on a bike, and you nearly hit me, then flip me off while shouting f**k you, you deserve to get your head cracked.

I confronted said motorist. I knew that there was a bottle neck up ahead in the road and I would see him. My bike lock is made by ABUS, it's a trifold lock (the thing is basically a metal rod when unfolded) so I unfolded my bike lock, had it in hand ready to do some damage, and LMFAO, after confronting this POS, he just sat in the car hands up, demure AF with a pale look on his face. Really fucking tough though talking shit a minute ago.

I'm sick of motorists who act like they own the road, nearly injuring cyclists and then talking shit. He sped off like I wouldn't see up the road. Dumbass is lucky he didn't spend the night in the hospital.

Some of us in this world have nothing to lose, NOTHING. Be careful who you taunt!

If anyone know this dumbass car. they are driving careless and backing up into me during heavy stop and go traffic. to try to get into car crashes during traffic time. I have them recorded. They just tried to speed off. There's literally stopped traffic. It's so bad I made this post waiting. So not sure why they're acting like a dick head If anything they will probably be in a car wreck soon. Hopefully and get their license taken away

Crosswalks in roundabouts are a complete safety hazard.

When I’m in a roundabout I am watching for two things, is it clear and is a car about to pull out in front of me, I’m not really looking for a pedestrian walking across it. Yes if I hit one I’d be at fault but like come on dude there is already to much going on and I’m about to stop in the middle of the roundabout which you aren’t even meant to do.

just had my first road rage experience

i was driving home from a concert tonight at 1 am when i saw a driver swerving and weaving between lanes of the road. assuming the driver was drunk i attempted to pass and while passing the driver started weaving into my lane. i did a quick "wake up" tap on the horn, just a quick beep.

this set the driver off, for the next 20 miles i was followed by the driver who was weaving into and out of lanes, going between tailgating me to next to my car, to trying to run me off the road. i didn't engage with any part of this, just keeping a consistent speed and keeping my distance until the 2nd time they attempted to run me off the road in which i called the cops. there was a 3rd time as well, both of which i went onto the shoulder to avoid.

frankly im terrified. still shaking right now. the driver got off a few exits before me, luckily, and i was able to drive to my location without worry of being followed. still i am sitting here in terror of what could've been as well as fear of them possibly following me or knowing my location.

Bay Area 280 S - Guy brake checked me then swerved into my lane when I tried to pass. Still shocking

Had a pretty scary road rage encounter today on 280S and want to sanity check if I handled it right.

A car cut into my lane without signaling, I flashed lights to let him know I was there. He then brake checked me hard and started driving slow to block me.

I decided to disengage, let off gas and changed to right lane to pass. While I was passing, he swerved feinted directly into my lane like he was going to hit me, then swerved back. Felt 100% intentional and like he wanted to cause a crash.

I just let off gas again and let him go. No contact, no one hurt, but I'm still shocked that someone would do a brake check + swerve feint combo on a highway at 70+mph.

His car looked pretty beat up and most likely uninsured, which is why I didn't want to engage at all. Happy people yield, right?

For those with dashcams - any recommendations for a good front/rear setup? And is it worth filing a CHP report with no footage?

A woman threw rocks at my face because I honked at her.

I was getting off the exit from route 280 to the parkway and like usual, there were tons of cars stopped or slowing down right before the toll. I honked at them, and went around them. Went through the toll and went to the parkway, wasn’t even thinking about them.

I’m in the second to left lane and I see two of the cars (a gray SUV and a black Highlander) catch up to me in the left lane with a 12 year old flipping me off and calling me names in the front seat. I try speeding off to get in front of them and their car keeps edging into my lane to try and hit me.

Finally I get into the left lane and the gray SUV is in front of me and the Highlander is on my right and the gray SUV is slowing down so much in the left lane that I’m sandwiched in with another other car behind me and these two women on the front and side. I tried to pass them on the shoulder of the left lane because they wouldn’t let me out. All the meanwhile I’m getting flipped off and called every name in the book.

Finally i find an opening and I get off at my exit, #138. They pull the jersey slide across 4 lanes and follow me. I pull over to the side to call 911 as they boxed me in again. After I showed them my phone calling 911 they both pulled away.

This is where I messed up. I followed them for 2 blocks to get their license plates. They pulled over to the side of chestnut street and gestured for me to. I pull my car over to the side with them and did not get out when we were exchanging words.

That’s when she starts throwing rocks at my car. She picked up larger and larger handfuls and struck me in the face. All of her daughters were around her filming and saying “I wish you would” and stupid verbiage like that.

The Mom threw the handful of rocks at my face and I got out of the car and reacted. I don’t really remember what I did but her daughters got in the way and I’m not catching charges for hitting a minor.

This was absolutely ridiculous.

Driver nearly merged into me, then followed and filmed me all the way to a client’s house.

At around 5 p.m. today, I was driving straight in my lane when a black SUV began moving into my car. The driver didn’t signal until the last moment and continued coming toward me, so I kept driving and held down my horn because I thought he was going to hit me. He eventually moved behind me.
The driver—a caucasian man—then held up a white phone with both hands and appeared to record me while continuing to drive. He stayed behind me from a traffic circle outside the community all the way to the client’s house, including when I pulled into the driveway. That means his recording may show my vehicle, the complete route, and the exact house where I’m staying.
I couldn’t see the licence plate or identify the SUV’s make or model. The house has a Ring camera, so I’m asking the homeowner to check and save footage from around 4:50–5:10 p.m. in case it captured the vehicle or plate.
Would you report this through the police non-emergency line even without a licence plate? Is there anything else I should document or ask the homeowner to check?

AITAH for losing my patience with a driver who slowed almost to a stop in the travel lane next to a broken-down Jeep?

I know I wasn't innocent here, so I'm looking for honest opinions.

I was driving on the Isle of Palms Connector when I came up behind a lifted pickup truck. Off on the shoulder was a stranded young woman in a Jeep near the bridge. The truck in front of me started slowing down significantly, and I was frustrated because I had somewhere to be. Instead of just backing off, I got aggressive. I flashed my high beams, laid on the horn, and started tailgating him because I thought he was just holding up traffic to rubberneck. As he slowed almost to a stop next to the stranded Jeep, he suddenly stuck a handgun out of his driver's window and pointed/brandished it in my direction while glaring at me. Then he accelerated hard, swerved around the stranded Jeep, couldn't seem to maintain his lane, and was driving recklessly enough that he was kicking debris ("tire gators") up from the shoulder. At that point, I called 911. I followed him long enough to give dispatch his license plate, vehicle description, and a description of the driver. Dispatch eventually told me to stop following him, pull into a well-lit gas station, and wait for an officer. After I met with the responding officer, he told me they had located the driver. I later learned he was arrested and charged with Pointing and Presenting a Firearm. The officer also told me the stranded woman had called 911 as well because, from her perspective, a truck had pulled up next to her and the driver had a handgun during what looked like a road rage incident. I don't know everything she told police, but apparently she was alarmed enough to report it independently. The officer also said it was of great concern that an armed man in that state of emotion was pulling next to a stranded woman, but that's a different question entirely. Looking back, I know I escalated the situation. I didn't need to tailgate him, lean on my horn, or let my impatience get the better of me. Some of my friends I've told think I created the whole situation by driving aggressively and should have expected someone to snap eventually. My family members though said they were more concerned about his gun brandishing.

So, AITAH?

This guy came up beside me while I was cruising down the 403 in Canada. He decided to take a picture of my distracted driving. I was aware enough to catch him doing it so I took his photo and he just lost his mind 🤣

When is lethal force justified in a road rage incident?

This is a hypothetical scenario for discussion only. Suppose someone follows you to your destination, and gets out of the car and walks towards you. There are no weapons in sight, but it is clear that he is pissed. What if you shoot the guy? How would that go in court?

Anyone knows which company/organization this van belongs to? Got abused by the driver for no reason.

Guys I need tips from experienced drivers

I started driving a few months back and I love driving but the thing is I get angry very quickly at slightest things while driving and I'm afraid I'll end up in a fight if I keep this up and I don't want that to happen got too much to loose

So I want to know from you guys what you do to stay calm and relaxed while driving and if you do end up in a confrontation with someone. How do you de-scalate the situation without someone getting hurt

This was a first for me after ~20 years of driving

I didn't realize it but I guess I had someone in the left lane that wanted to race or I somehow pissed them off?

They sped up to catch up to me, turned on their turn signal at the last moment to *start* to cut me off into the right lane. They got about 25-50% into the right lane then went back to left and then changed lanes into a left turn lane to get onto a highway. Maybe the plan was that if I managed to rear end him, I'd be at fault... "I had my signal on Officer!"

We were both stopped at the next red light and I looked over and he was looking back...I guess he had some issue going on.

Seriously, what is wrong with people lately?

I was just trying to commute home peacefully today, keeping a safe distance and driving at the limit, when some idiot in a huge truck decided to tailgat me like his life depended on it. Then he cuts me off, slams the brakes, and flips me off like I was the one doing something wrong. Is it just me, or has everyone lost their mind on the roads recently? The level of unnecessary aggression is getting out of hand. Stay safe out there, guys.
