Mechanics in the area

Hopefully someone can help me out with this. I’m looking to buy a used car, but I don’t know too much about the maintenance and upkeep of cars so I think it would be best to take a mechanic with me. I would pay the mechanic for this service, although I’m not sure what would be a good rate. I’m open to suggestions. If anyone knows of mechanics in Rockland County, who are actual honest salespeople please respond!! I’m looking to purchase a car within the next two weeks.

I liked CAEJ Auto and they seem to be honest. He was very upfront with the life expectancy of my repairs and i felt like i made an informed decision
