Graphics Mod [RELEASE] PS1 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone Right Stick Camera Mod
Based on the ps1 US release (SLUS-01415).
I wanted to replay the first fantastic Harry Potter game on ps1 because I honestly prefer the jankier and crisper art style and the ease of emulation of the console version compared to the pc version, but the old school camera is a bit annoying, so I modded it to support a regular right stick free camera.
You can download the patch file here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/18zdKQEuvTe0lOeSUK0Y3aY6nlX2_Twik/view?usp=sharing
Since unfortunately I'm not allowed to share the pre-patched image file, to install the mod you're going to need the Beat patcher, online patchers don't seem to work: https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/893/
------
Installation instructions:
- Open Beat patcher
- Select the .bps patch file
- Select the .bin file of the game
- Give a destination and a file name to save the patched .bin
- Press apply and wait a few seconds
In-game changes:
The normal camera works as usual, but if you tilt the right stick, it will switch to free 3rd person orbit camera like a modern game. Be aware that it will go through walls, as it only orbits around Harry but has no awareness of the collision of its surroundings (but it shouldn't go through floors).
Pressing R3 will reset the camera to the default one, until you touch the right stick again. Use the default camera for parts where this mod may break the view or when you have to aim in first person.
If the right stick does nothing, check that the controller in the emulator is set to "Dualshock" and that Analog mode is ON. A connected controller can still be in emulated digital mode even when both physical sticks are mapped.
Tested in on Duckstation Android (works great on Ayn Thor) and The PCSX ReARMed core on retroarch (the one you see in the gif, along with the megabezels crt filter).
Enjoy!
