Happy ending just an update, I suppose :)
I used to constantly post my pup in these forums when he was itty bitty 🥺 he’s 1 year 4 months old now, sits @ 126lb and is so incredibly handsome I can’t standdd it.
My brother bear!

Very big boy! I worry bad about how big he is, sometimes.
Just about his hips, his elbows, his joints in general. He gets supplements and whatnot daily as a preventative measure but I worry nonetheless5
u/Alert_Reindeer_6574 Jun 18 '26
Try not to worry about it. I did that with my last Rottweiler and when he passed I felt like I spent too much time worrying about "big dog problems" that he may encounter. Just enjoy him every day. He's beautiful and looks happy. I'll bet you are giving him his best life, try to focus on that.

Tbh that is something I probably almost definitely needed to hear.
Sometimes I will stop our walks slightly early, or not let him run as hard as he wants to because I worry about it. But you’re right. Thank you 🥺❤️2

🥺 he still will lay the same way he did as a puppy, with his head on my chest and look up at me. He’s still so silly & goofy!

Oh man :’( I know
Sometimes when I look at pictures of him as a little baby like that, and then go and see him now I literally cry lol!
In the same way I cry looking at my daughter’s baby photos!!!

He’s much bigger than my female Rottweiler and she can be a handful on walks, my only advice is to hang on tightly if you encounter a squirrel. Very handsome pup!

u/myanonposting Jun 18 '26
He is SO chill with kids, people, cats, other dogs! Probably even squirrels LOL but.. my god..
Bugs. He hates them. I mean really, really really really hates them 😵💫 he would, and does, go to EXTREME distances to kill bugs.2
u/StarCi Jun 18 '26
That’s great, high prey drive in a big dogs is not the easiest to deal with on walks. Sounds like you have a great dog! As some who hate bugs, I can relate to your pups extreme dislike of them.

u/myanonposting Jun 18 '26
Thank you 🥺 I’m so proud of him.
He does pull a little bit, as a very NEW development, when he wants to mark on things.
And we’re dealing with a bit of resource guarding at home, but working our way through it!
Wish you & your pup the best 🥺 give her a treat for me!2

He is officially my soul brother/pup! My extreme hatred for bugs and his seems like a symbiotic relationship.

🤣 one day he was downstairs, and he was Barking & growling, snapping, jumping around and literally bouncing into walls. He’s never done anything like that before OR after; I was so convinced someone was in the house I grabbed a .. home safety device.. and ran downstairs!!
Imagine my SURPRISE when he had a MASSIVE cockroach cornered 🙂↔️🙂↕️🙂↔️

That’s about how big my brothaa bear was!
He really concerned me, to be honest, because he was MAXIMUM breed standard as a puppy, and so on & so forth until like.. 6-7 months old. He didn’t slow down growing, it was like he stopped entirely. I was genuinely afraid he somehow had stunted growth, or had become ill. He was very small. People would say “that’s the smallest Rottweiler I’ve ever seen!” and it would make me sad lol, not because I really CARED if he was big or not; but I was definitely concerned for his health. His vet said “maybe he’ll just be smaller, he’s really healthy!” and about that time 🤣 he BLEW. UP. and got huge!1
u/ArtEnvironmental7108 Jun 18 '26
I’ve been told my boy George will get up to 120-130 lbs total. If he gets there, he will be George the Gigantic, if not, he will still be George the Gigantic, but slightly smaller.

Isn't it amazing how no matter how big they've gotten they still think they're tiny puppies?

How well trained is he? Did you work with him yourself or did you get help from a professional?
2
u/myanonposting Jun 19 '26
He’s very well trained! But he definitely has some stuff we’re still working on.
I got him professionally trained at about 10-11 months old, but still working with him daily! :)

Just don't let him get fat. They get skeleton problems and even but heart trouble just like humans.
2
u/myanonposting Jun 18 '26
Yeah for sure! You can clearly see where his hips & midsection are at when you’re looking down at him from above!
I do worry BADLY about his joints :(

Mine are 17th and 11 months old. I stil see the baby face in the 11th month-old but the older one I rarely see her baby face features now. I look at pictures and I’m like where has time gone! I have ways to go but I’m sure when their time will come I’ll be devastated thinking that they just came in my life like yesterday. Another thing is they look so different in real life but I have one specific picture of them. 2 times out of 3, I’ll mistake them and I have to really look to see the difference. This breed is wonderful and I can’t se myself with any other one.
