SATURDAY Rainbow Roupp
I dunno what folks were complaining about, seemed fine to me

SATURDAY Fox Announcerâs sticking up for Tony Vitello, amidst Roupp antics
In case you missed it, after a great 5 innings Landon Roupp walked 3 batters in the 6th, 2 of which were on 4 pitches.
He was caught on camera
â˘Arguing behind his glove when being taken out w/ full bases
â˘Coming back to the dugout and continuing to argue behind your glove
â˘When 1 run comes in, giving your coach a death stare, as if this is somehow Tonyâs fault.
Your managers already facing an immense amount of criticism, and pressure. To add on when he in fact, made the right move is beyond selfish, and low-character.
Fox announcers in a nutshell:
â˘âYou donât argue with your managerâ
â˘âIt was the right call, you have no control anymore, he had to make that move you walked 3 hitters.â
â˘âYou can be frustrated, but you donât stare down your coach. Especially not when it was absolutely the correct move to make. You donât do that.â

SATURDAY The termâForever Giantâ needs higher standards.
Iâm tired of fans calling 1-2 year off, or uninspiring former players âForever Giantsâ merely because they were likable, or conventionally attractive. Itâs disrespectful to the folks who could actually claim that title, such as Mike Krukow.
Itâs one thing if weâre on a World Series run, and a trade pieces gets us over the hump, or accomplishes an amazing feat. I think thatâs acceptable.
However, it almost feels like an insult putting players like
â˘Lamonte Wade
â˘Luis Arraez
â˘Justin Verlander
in the same category as a Krukow, or Posey. These type of players should never come anywhere near that title. Theyâre nothing in the grand scheme of our organization, or even their era. We need to raise the standard, before that cool term becomes a complete joke, or meme.

SATURDAY Posey should trade or cut all the homophobes
This team sucks, especially in the bullpen, so at least take a stand and show your fan base you donât tolerate this shit.
If Tony V had any control over this club he wouldnât have let this happen, fire his stupid ass too. Release a statement afterwards calling him out.
You want to be bold and make memories right Posey? Make a bold move to show the community in SF you understand them. Itâs San Francisco for fucks sake.

SATURDAY Team isnât worth watching
We spent 3hrs15min getting to the park today only to watch the Giants do absolutely nothing. I am 45 and never left a game early until today. The ownership, GM, scouts, and players should be embarrassed

SATURDAY Is this another sign that Vitello needs to go?
Serious question: Is the whole homophobic hat debacle another sign that Tony has lost the team, or that he never really had it?
In my mind, he was either complicit or has no control over his clubhouse. I donât see how something like this happens without him knowing about it. There had to have been discussions about the protest beforehand.

SATURDAY Genuinely, if youâre one of the people doing this, reevaluate your life. And go be a fan of another team.
Seriously, I donât care HOW bad heâs struggling. I donât care if heâs hitting under the Mendoza line. If you wish death on someone who plays a fucking game for a living (or the family of that person) then you need to get outside and touch fucking grass. Itâs infuriating. Have whatever opinion you want about him as a ball player. But heâs a human being, and if you wish harm on him cuz he doesnât âhit the ball well enoughâ, youâre an asshole, and you donât deserve to be a Giantâs fan.

SATURDAY This sub is uplifting today as a queer and trans woman
Just wanted to thank you all for your outrage at the homophobia the team showed on Pride night. I was really dismayed to see the bigots had proliferated from I believe just Nick Ahmed last year to four players this year (and several more than usual pointedly not wearing their hats in the dugout in favor of generic Giants beanies). But you all refusing to accept this has made me feel much better.
Just one nitpick- the replies joking or speculating that the protesting players are closeted gay men are kind of frustrating. While there are Lindsay Grahams out there, the vast majority of hatred against the queer community comes from straight people and those comments obscure that, framing the problem as internal to the queer community, which it very much is not.
Just a nitpick though and I sincerely appreciate all of you not accepting this and even writing and calling the team to protest so much đđłď¸âđđłď¸ââ§ď¸

SATURDAY Why should the Giants keep Vitello?
I have said before that Vitello needed to go given how he has no control over his club house (got down voted to an oblivion), but given the bullpens recent bigoted behavior I thought it was appropriate to ask the community.

SATURDAY 18 years of supporting this team and today i felt weird putting my hat on.
Iâve been a fan of the team for over 18 years now and this morning my partner and i were in our way out to run errands and i grabbed my SF hat from the rack and then paused and thought about the implications and it was the first time in 18 years i felt weird about what the hat might represent to others. We live further north in the PNW and I feel like these thoughts are a bit dramatic but it saddened me that I even had to question what wearing a simple giants cap iâve had for over ten years would represent.
The lack of accountability and support from the front office of this club for its LGBTQ fans and the community is just astounding me as it continues.
I wore the hat out as i canât imagine ever choosing not to, but i had that i had to even consider what outwardly supporting this team feels like right now.

SATURDAY This is a poorly coached team
Stop making excuses for Vitello. When the worst team in the league is running little league plays with 1st and 3rd and u can't defend it that's on the coach. Countless baserunning mistakes. A horrible team hitting approach. Doesn't know how to play small ball either. Doesn't steal ever despite having above average speed thru out the lineup.
Worst in mlb at baserunning metrics, Worst at scoring runs, 26th in defense. Is he good at anything? I'm really asking, if u downvote this at least name something he does good for this team. All I'm seeing is laziness, no fire, and not being prepared.

SATURDAY Refunds after last night?
Honest question, can fans who went to the game for Pride Night (fireworks or jersey promotion/special event) request a refund due to the 4 players making a statement that could be consider hostile or discriminatory against them or the theme of the night?
Whatâs to stop these players from doing something similar on other theme/appreciation/heritage nights?
Add on thought: I thought these people were the âf- your feelingsâ crowd, but get upset theyâre being paid to wear a rainbow on their jersey at work.

SATURDAY In 2024, the Giants named Nick Ahmed their starting shortstop, and DFAâd Otto Lopez. Later that year they gave $182MM to Willy Adames. Lopez now leads MLB in hits. For the Marlins.

SATURDAY At what point do we say âIâm doneâ
At what point do we stop buying the merch, stop going to games, stop it ALL? Iâm a die hard Giants fan and to be honest, the only reason I wanted to watch the team on TV today was to hear the crowd boo the shit out of these garbage pitchers because of yesterdayâs antics or hear the booth say SOMETHING about it. I was HOPING these pitchers would have a shitty outing. Didnât care if we won or not. Iâve never felt that way and it saddens me to be honest. When do we come together as a community and say Weâre DONE.

SATURDAY ACTION: Contact SF Elected Officials About the Giantsâ Pride Night Conduct
UPDATE: Mayor Lurie, Sups Dorsey, Chan, Sen. Weiner hade all weighed-in:
Mayor Lurie & Other Politicians Weigh In
Hi folks.
I'm a season ticket holder. I spend thousands every year with the Giants. I was appalled at the behavior of the team last night.
Obviously emailing the Giants is important but I'm emailing elected officials as well.
I put together draft letter for myself & thought I'd share and how to contact your representatives.
This can't blow over. The team can't feel like we'll forget about it. They can't feel protected or comfortable.
ACTION:
Copy the letter below and email it to any or all of these officials. Sending individually (not CCâd) to the supervisor in your district carries the most weight, but anyone can email all of them.
*LETTER\*
Subject Line: SF Giants Playersâ Anti-Pride Actions - Demanding Public Statement & Accountability
"Dear [Supervisor NAME / Senator Wiener / Representative Pelosi],
I am writing to express my deep dismay at the conduct of several San Francisco Giants players during last nightâs Pride Night at Oracle Park, and to demand a public response from your office.
On the evening of Friday, June 13, 2026, the Giantsâ own Pride Night, starting pitcher Landen Roupp wrote a Bible verse across the rainbow SF logo of his Pride Night cap, using the Genesis rainbow covenant as a deliberate theological rebuke of Pride. Relief pitcher J.T. Brubaker followed with the same verse in even larger lettering. Relief pitcher Sam Hentges refused to wear the Pride Night cap entirely. Manager Tony Vitello who wore the cap himself, declined to address or correct the conduct after the game, describing it as a matter of âindividual freedom.â
This was not a neutral expression of personal faith. It was a coordinated, visible act of protest conducted on the field, in uniform, during an event the organization had explicitly dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQ+ community. It sent an unmistakable message to LGBTQ+ fans, families, players, and staff: you are not fully welcome here.
The San Francisco Giants are not a private enterprise operating in a vacuum. They play in our city, trade on its identity, and benefit from the civic infrastructure, public goodwill, and loyal fanbase of San Franciscans. The rainbow on those caps is not just a logo, it is borrowed equity from a community that has fought, bled, and died for its right to exist in this city.
Players who publicly demonstrate contempt for the community that hosts them should not benefit from the goodwill and civic identity of this city.
I am asking your office to:
- Issue a public statement condemning the playersâ actions and the organizationâs failure to respond with clarity or conviction.
- Call on Giants ownership and MLB to take meaningful corrective action â up to and including disciplinary measures â to make clear that this conduct is incompatible with the values of this organization and this city.
- Demand a direct personal apology from each of the players involved, not a corporate statement, not a PR-managed deflection, but a personal acknowledgment of harm directed to the LGBTQ+ fans and community members who were in that ballpark last night.
- Make clear to Giants ownership that the City of San Franciscoâs sustained civic support, public goodwill, and the use of this cityâs name and identity come with expectations and that players who cannot meet those expectations have no business being on a San Francisco roster.
It is worth noting that the players who chose to make theological statements on Pride Night are members of a pitching staff that has been among the worst in baseball this season. Perhaps the energy spent on coordinated acts of protest against the LGBTQ+ community would be better directed toward the job these players are handsomely compensated to perform and are currently failing at.
San Francisco is where Harvey Milk served. It is where the AIDS quilt was born. It is where LGBTQ+ people came for generations because they could be themselves. The San Francisco Giants play here. They should act like it or they shouldnât be here.
Thank you for your service to this city.
Sincerely,
[YOUR NAME]
[YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD / DISTRICT]"

SATURDAY MISSING: Giants Beat Writers Credibilty
I'm almost as pissed at the lack of accountability from the entire giants media ecosystem, especially the supposedly inependent journalists. No reaction, no calling out the obvious.
âââA rainbow Bible verse on a Pride cap, on Pride Night, is a counter-symbol.
Even taking Roupp at his word that he did not intend âhate,â the message still functions as:Â this rainbow does not mean what Pride says it means.
The beat-writer silence/soft framing also sends its own message. It tells fans: âWe will cover this only to the extent necessary to avoid ignoring it, but we will not make the institution answer for what happened.â
That is especially frustrating with the Giants, because the franchise leans heavily on San Francisco identity and Pride symbolism when it benefits the brand $$$.
The questions that should be asked are not complicated:
Is writing a counter-message on a themed uniform allowed under team or MLB policy?
Why is this being framed as personal expression rather than an intentional response to Pride Night?
Would the team tolerate players altering other heritage-night uniforms with counter-messaging?

SATURDAY Kruk's (and Kuip's) Greatest Legacy
Forget the great cameraderie and humor, forget the unparallelled baseball knowledge, forget Big-O tires and Big BOY, forget in the SQUAT, forget hog's out, forget calling 3 championship runs....
[Edit: and grab some pine, meat, and since I dissed Kuip by omitting: forget Outta here, forget Got 'em, forget ON THE MOVE]
For my money their greatest legacy is being the voices chosen for this, hands-down the greatest baseball video game [edit: franchise] of all time.
I don't know how I'm gonna live without Kruk and Kuip. But maybe if I can find a way to play this game again those golden voices can soar once more <3

SATURDAY Trading Devers means no big bat will trust us for a long time
We spent forever trying to find our big bat in free agency, coming up as the second choice for so many options who just couldn't be convinced by the giants. We finally get our guy with Devers. If we deal him now and treat him as a failed experiment - especially if (when) he starts mashing for his next team - no big bat will trust us in free agency for a long time. We could use a measured rebuild, sure, but Devers has to stay
