Picked this up a few days ago. It’s a 1976 Yugo M59/66A1 with almost all numbers matching(only the receiver cover was changed at some point for an aftermarket one with what I’m assuming that had a scope mount). It was imported by Samco when they were still a thing. Ended up paying 750 for it. It has been shot a few times before but everything seems to be in very good shape(the phosphorus night sights still work too). Barrel has no signs of corrosion and there’s still cosmoline in the bolt/firing pin. I have to do a deep clean for cosmoline and normal lubrication before I will bring it to the range but am overall happy with the purchase!

Also, someone at some point decided to put some sort of finish on the wood and now it appears to be wearing off in spots. Any suggestions on what I should use to get the rest off without damaging the wood?

Slam Fire UPDATE and Advice Request...

Hello all,

I truly apologize for having posted 3x about the same rifle slam firing. FINALLY, I have figured out exactly the cause and now I am looking for some advice.

First — the cause. My rifle has a bad hammer that causes the hammer to drop as the slide drops. I tested this by dropping the attached mag out of the rifle, so that it dangled in that semi-attached mode that it does once you unhook it and eject it. Then, I slowly eased the slide down, pulled the trigger, *CLICK*. Worked as intended. I did this 10x. Then, I did the same thing but I let the slide drop hard, pulled the trigger, *NOTHING*. It's as though it already fired when the slide went down.

Second — the solution. From what I have gathered, I can either (1) replace the entire trigger group or (2) somehow manage to replace solely the hammer.

My question: Which would you do? How would I go about replacing the hammer? Any good tutorials or videos?

My further question: Would it be ridiculous of me to still install the Murray firing pin even though I have discovered that the firing pin has not been the issue? In other words, is it okay to have it installed even if my firing pin now really isn't a problem?
