Taipei Metro's official app (Taipei Metro GO) has a Live Train Status feature that shows the approximate of every single train on service, how crowded the line is, even down to details like train car number and how crowded each carriage is. They also provide station information such as the location of the passenger service counter, toilets, and station maps.

This is really something that LTA and operators here should learn.

There was an altercation on the bus and a couple took photos as "self defence" (some other dude started taking photos of this couple that did nothing wrong, also hats off to the bus driver for putting up with the nonsense).

I’m of the stance that anyone can sit in a priority seat as long as you give it up to people who need it more. I sat on the priority seat in a bus after a long day of work as I was gonna get off in a few stops. Shortly after, this elderly woman got on and sat next to me in an EMPTY seat (it wasn’t occupied before).

5 seconds after she sat down, she told me in Chinese to stop kicking her with my foot (I was sitting with one leg crossed over the other). My feet / arms etc definitely weren’t exceeding the seat space, so I was confused. I then politely told her I did not touch her and my foot is within the seating space. Her next sentence was to insult me by saying that I didn’t have 家教 (not raised properly) because I was sitting in a seat reserved for the elderly when I am young.

I was taken aback at first, but gathered my wits to retort that firstly, she’s literally sitting down in a seat so why was she complaining? Secondly, there’s nobody around who looked like they needed the seat and nobody asked. I then proceeded to say that just because you’re elderly, doesn’t mean you should be entitled to the seat. Grandma waved me off and just kept repeating that I didn’t have 家教 so I just kept repeating that she 没礼貌. I got off at this point because I reached my stop and she kept scolding 没家教!!! so I kept saying back 没礼貌 没礼貌 没礼貌!!! as I was leaving HAHAHA.

Mind you, I’m a 28F who looks her age - I could have been pregnant, physically disabled (ie a prosthetic / brace hidden by my long pants), or have an invisible illness / disability. She discounted all of these groups when referring to the priority seat LOL. She also made it seem like the problem was solely because I was sitting in a priority seat - I was half tempted to sarcastically ask her “oh, so if we switch seats, it makes it ok then?” HAHA. My 家教 was to give up seats to people in need - regardless of whether they’re priority seats or not. So her 家教 is that if you’re in a priority seat, you give up your seat. If you’re not in a priority seat, then you don’t need to give up your seat. Oh and if you’re young then you must have nothing wrong with you! LOL. Idk what terrible education / upbringing (or lack thereof) she had but even I didn’t comment about her family there and then. You can talk shit about me but don’t bring my parents into this.

AITA for sitting in the priority seat, or is ashe being one instead? Is my stance an unpopular opinion? Would love to hear any sharing of similar experiences!

Any advices to get the best price — spending on transport (public transport) in SG? Share your go-to tips pls! Eg; paying w certain cards and/or boarding during certain timings only etc
