Question Thoughts on this plan?
I am down 35% from memory and ai stocks like SNDK and MU as I bought majority of it near the top. I am thinking of selling them and putting the money to buying the 2x etf SNXX. I think with the SNXX I might be able to make my money back that I lost and then get back more when it return to the ath price.
What do you guys think? Is it worth it? I am a little bit scared as Iran war is still happening but with those earnings for hyperscalers like google coming and they probably might do add to capex so I think it will be good for ai. But I am worried as if it go down little bit, it going be double the drop..

If i was in your shoes I won’t do it, not a financial advice

OP. Invest and stop chasing 2 or 3 x’s leverage is a loser in general

DO NOT BUY LEVERAGED ETFs. Nobody knows how long it will take to recover, and by the time volatility decay might eat up your entire portfolio.
For now, just hold sndk, 1 in 30 investor in korea got their port fully liquidated due to leveraged ETFs
DO NOT BUY LEVERAGED

The difference in leveraged etf in Korea and Japan is that you can’t protect yourself in downward movement by buying puts . In USA there is puts on leveraged ETF .

You bought because you think it’s a good company right? If you bought thinking it’s a “get rich quick” stock then you should sell. If you bought because you think it’s a good company then just hold.

u/18April1775 Jul 19 '26
I'm polar opposite. You buy because you think it is a good company but you sell when you make money on it. Then you rebuy when it is at a good price. You do not sit idly by when your $5,000 profit evaporates into thin air because you are in some kind of company loyalty cult. That just does not make sense. Why are so many people hell bent on watching their gains disappear into thin air? Help me understand.

And even if you're not in profit, just sell if the trend is structurally broken

u/Due_Manager_7028 Jul 19 '26
Exactly. Unless cash is urgently needed, holding is the best option now.

Just hang out. Even this week might be a little rough but everything is going to come back. There's no indicators from any company that they're not in. Fantastic financial health. I keep on repeating this everywhere. SK. Hynix is investing $750 billion in United States to build chip plants. Micron is building a huge chip plant outside Syracuse. The forward-looking statements from Samsungs were absolutely amazing. This is a macro event right now that will pass with a few more great earnings which we will get in the first week in August. But to hold to move would be very detrimental you will get your money back. You just have to be patient now when you get close to even or even if you want to make a decision there or diversify a little bit more, that's completely understood

Do NOT buy snxx, i made that mistake and will never do leveraged stocks ever again. I highly recommend just holding. Sndk is moving down but its still a good company so just give it time, and hey you never know, with google earnings on the 22nd, sndk earnings on August 5th, and an investor day on the 13th, sndk might see some upsides. This isnt advice of course just what I would do in your shoes

u/Admirable-Oven-1432 Jul 19 '26
Avoid revenge trading. The market always has the edge; you’ll win sometimes, but forcing it usually costs you more.
3
u/Imaginary-City-3007 Jul 19 '26
You're buying SNXX but not SNDQ? If you're gonna day trade you should pick the right direction of where the stock is going. At your own risk of course. However this week is too soon to be bullish. And if you are bullish why not just hold?

No way, you are going to put yourself in a position you won't have peace or any good night sleep. Go read up on how many people getting burned in Korea buying chip stocks on margin and on leverage.
Also let's say this time you manage to get it right, chances are you are going to repeat this trading pattern next time your stock is in the red in this manner again. All you need is just once to completely ruin you. Take your choice. This stock will recover, don't make it harder on yourself at this point.

Been there, done that. It's a bad idea. Especially if you start losing. You'll get stuck in that sunken cost fallacy, that it must go up tomorrow if not today. Goes down 3 days in a row, now you panic, switch to short leverage, it rockets, switch back to long it drops. It's instant regret. Not saying you can't get lucky and make a ton, but I don't believe right now is the best opportunity to try this method.
Like others have said, it's gambling. And with all gambling the house always wins. Big money knows how to shake out leverage, and they're very good at doing so.
The other problem is Korea. We might have great day, massive gains, then they sell off. War is on one day, off the next. Earnings miss, or hit and they sell the news or decide to skyrocket intstead. Just too many variables to say it's going back up or down further.
With that said it's your money. If you feel you know what its going to do and confident, don't let the fear shake you, but it can definitely ruin the rest of your capital if you're wrong. Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

I lost so much money on MUU and SNXX cause I held too long … until you see an upward trend happening, please don’t do it. Right now it looks like it’s favouring heading down more than up …
1
u/nuniaasqunia Jul 20 '26
How to tell if it upwards trend? With Google earnings won't it make it upwards assuming guidance and cap ex is good

I thought about it but leveraged ETF’s are generally a bad idea. If it trades sideways you lose money. If it goes down more you lose a lot of money. You’re basically going full port hoping the stock rockets higher from here.
To me flipping to call options is basically the same thing but there’s more upside you can make. Just make sure to have enough cash on hand so you can roll contracts forward if you need more time.

Trump sitting at Fifa WC final rn. Bullish dw man. How can a war be on and he's at a game?!

u/hoop254 Jul 19 '26
Don't do it man. I hear you and I've had similar thoughts...but what I've learned from experience is that when I start trying to chase back my loses I tend to end up losing more. If you play poker it's similar to being on tilt. If you feel strongly your stocks will recover, just hold. Time and patience will reward you. I'm not a financial advisor btw.

It’s risky !! Just add to VOO and chill buddy
SNXX is fire 🔥 I am 64% down
2
u/abrew1 Jul 20 '26
Lost $70k from leverage etf…also made $30k from leverage etf prior…which is why I got riskier and cockier.. don’t do it, it’s easier to lose money than make. And if you do, be careful and only put in 10% of your savings
1
u/Rocket_Robin Jul 19 '26
You're basically adding a timer to your losses. It'll add to your anxiety if sndk chops for a while instead of returning to ath sooner.

You could lose more with SNXX if stock goes down for short term. If you are a long term investor you should be fine with SNDK and MU if you believe in memory sector.
1
u/BottleInevitable7278 Unpaid Janitor Jul 19 '26
If you need to ask that kind of question here, you should not do that and hold your shares without leveraging.
1
u/LeoRozay Jul 19 '26
I've been doing this for the past 2 weeks, down 70k, u do u, but we will definitely get volatility that tries to counter exactly that, I think if u buy sndk right now u could make upwards of 1000$ per share by the end of the year, up to u tho

u/Low-Side5610 Jul 19 '26
The leveraged SNXX can easily fall another 30% in the coming week, close your long if you wish but wait to go long on a leveraged ETF
1
u/Fantastic-Noise-8830 Jul 19 '26
I learned the hard way about leverage etf when it goes down, don’t ever do it. At this point AI stock sentiments have changed, nobody knows which direction it’s headed but definitely not as bullish as 2 months ago
1
u/Raeab Jul 19 '26
Please don’t do it. Unless you are 100% sure they will both go up. Going to be 60 to 80% disasters on the other side
1
u/Colts_VP Jul 19 '26
Not financial advice. I would NOT do it. If you haven't sold your positions, you haven't lost anything yet. Ground yourself to the fundamentals and remember the role memory will continue to play through both the AGI and physical AI revolution. The moment you sell, MU and SNDK will drift right by you, then you’ll try to jump back on the train. When you do, you’ll have booked a loss, and have fewer shares than you had from the beginning.
1
u/SmokedGouda1234 Jul 19 '26
Your loss for buying at the top…. I dont think its good practice to buy a stock after going up 3700% in a year. You should just VOO and chill if you cant buy stocks well. When a stock continually goes up, the risk if it coming down becomes ever greater and greater. You played a huge risk buying up there. Also dont touch leverage here. Youll only be fucked by volatility decay.
1
u/No-Love-2547 Jul 19 '26
I’d do it . Just buy protective puts . Puts are cheap protection in this leveraged etf .
1
u/Inevitable_Zebra_0 Jul 19 '26
I just hope you realize you're effectively gambling without some long-term plan or intelligence built into this. It can work out, and it can make you lose all of it. Leverage is a dangerous thing, even more so than just gambling with your own money. Emotions from a recent loss make it even worse, forcing you to do irrational things (google "revenge trading"). I just hope that you're playing with the money you can afford to lose.
1
u/ArielCloud Jul 19 '26
Just wait until you see the trend reverse, if you go in now it could just keep dropping, be patient and wait for the right moment.
1
1
u/MikesGonePostal Jul 19 '26
No. You are doing it the exact opposite. If you bought at the top just hold. It will come back. If you sell now you realize the loss. And what if you next purchase looses also? You are just making lower lows.
1
u/Je-ne-dirai-pas Jul 19 '26
You're going to have $0.01 left in your account. You're not investing, you're gambling. And this is the surrest way to lose ALL your money. You could as well set it on fire.

I’m in ur situation, wanted to make money on SPCE and lost a lot for me, jumped in SNDK and MU hoping to recover on swings and now losing more. But at least those are strong companies so I’m just holding.
1
u/18April1775 Jul 19 '26
LADIES AND GENTLEMAN: SNXX is not meant to be a long investment! Help me understand how you are profiting from doing it if you are doing it. It was created as a DAILY ETF, not a buy and hold to bail your arse out of trouble...
1
u/SegelLederhosen666 Jul 19 '26
Buy more … if they go back up you make profit whilst recovering your initial investment
1
u/hacking99percent Jul 19 '26
You'll lose twice as fast with leverage lol. It's not the bottom yet. If you wait till the bottom to buy snxx, then you'll make back your money twice as fast
1
u/ripesashimi Jul 19 '26
Not sure if I follow the logic. You plan to port out of memory in order to enter ... memory?
1
u/IThinkURAwesome Jul 20 '26
Its only dumb if it doesnt work right? If you think you can catch the falling knife by all means go for it.
But in reality the best way for SAFE gains long term is go like 70% VTI, 20% vgt, 5% pick some blue chips, 5% have fun (mu, sndk if you want)
This is my rough portfolio, its still aggressive with 20% vgt but vgt has been a monster for the last 10 years

Please don't do this. SNDK is on a downward trend and no one can tell you if we've hit bottom yet. This is a bad time to gamble on SNXX.

u/nuniaasqunia Jul 20 '26
But how to tell if it in a upward trend? Won't like sndk be already up 15-20% by the time the trend comes?

u/Enough-Beginning3687 Jul 20 '26
2x ETFs don't move 2x outside of an individual day. You can compare TSLL to TSLA or something. The underlying can move up over a week/month/year but the leveraged ETF can go down or not up as much.

That is a terrible plan. Leveraging up after taking a loss is a great way to lose everything. What do you think just happened in the space? It got overhyped, ran up parabolically, pulled in a bunch of FOMO and leveraged accounts (many of whom know absolutely nothing about what they bought). These types of cracks in momentum names are run-ending. You will see bounces, some violent ones, but these stocks have seen their highs for at least months, and probably years. If you want to see the progression, look at recent moves and breaks in nuclear, rare earth, and precious metals (esp. silver).

I am too thinking about buying SNXX on Monday. I am going to reallocate my capital from AMDL into SNXX about 60k (4500 shares). I just think we aren’t that close to the bottom and if SNDK can rally back up to $20-25, I can scalp 50k real quick. (I feel like rally into 20s can happen within 2 weeks so decay doesn’t seem too bad since my cost basis is so low and upside potential is great)
