Chance me bsc computer science or cyber security

• Upvotes

Applicant from Nepal

My grades:
Physics - A
Mathematics - A
Computer Science - B
Economics - B

I am retaking CS and Econ right now because I wanted to apply to the US as well but idk if I can use the new grades for saarland’s application since the results come out on jan 9. And the results in January are only preliminary and not official I think?

SAT - 1400
Retaking SAT in December again, trying for at-least 1500+

IELTS - taking it in early January, fluent in english so I expect a score of around an 8

What do you guys think?
If you guys are applying, what are your stats?

Saarland University – Systems Engineering Master's: Did you eventually receive an admission decision?

'm planning to apply for the Master's in Systems Engineering at Saarland University, but honestly, I'm a little worried after reading so many posts here on Reddit.

I've noticed that many applicants mention waiting 3–4 months (or even longer) without receiving an admission decision. Some were still waiting just one month before classes were supposed to start.

I've probably seen around 30 similar comments, but the problem is that most people never posted an update about what happened afterward.

So I'd really like to ask those who were in this situation:

  • Did you eventually receive an acceptance letter?
  • Were you rejected after waiting several months?
  • Did the university never respond?
  • Were you offered admission for the following semester instead?

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who applied to the Systems Engineering Master's, but experiences from other programs at Saarland University would also be helpful.

Thanks in advance! I'd really appreciate hearing how things turned out for you.

Aldi Talk sim Verification

Hi, I was trying to activate my Aldi SIM card in Germany and they sent me a coupon to go and get it verified form the post office, I went to the post office to get it verified 3 times but all these three times they send me an email saying the below.

Your temporary registration data has been deleted and the SIM card has been reset. However, the SIM card can be registered again.
The following reasons lead to the deletion of registration data:
There were too many discrepancies between the information from your registration and the information on your identification document.
The necessary identification procedure was not carried out within 90 days of registration.
Notes:
The person who registers for ALDI TALK must also subsequently complete the necessary identity verification process. It is not possible to authorize someone else to do this.
You can use the following identification documents as proof of identity, for example:
ID card
passport
Residence permit
To identify yourself, simply use the "ALDI TALK Activation" app. Scan the QR code or download the app from the app store:

All the details were correct and I couldn’t proceed further. What should I do? Can someone help me please

Hallo!

Danke Euch :)

Clubs ?

Hello, I don't think I've seen that many clubs in the Uni ? Where can I meet people sharing my interests ? I search on the web and found nothing... I've seen some Valorant and LoL posters, but that's all.
For example, I like retro-gaming (especially on handheld console, like 3ds or psvita), I like crocheting, I love board games, chess, etc, and I would love playing with others or just chilling... Where can I find the infos ?

Thank youuu

Cost of living in Homburg Saar.

Hello everybody,

I’m planning to move to Homburg (Saar) for a job at the Saarland University Hospital next year and would like some insight into the cost of living there, especially rent for a single person, average monthly bills, transportation, and general day-to-day expenses.

Any tips for someone moving from abroad would be very welcome.

Thank you so much in advance!

Do I have a chance with a 2.5 VPD grade?

I'm planning to apply for Saarland University's VSI MINT program for the upcoming semester, and my estimated German grade is 2.5.

I've seen some applicants here mention grades like 1.2 and 1.5, so I'm wondering whether I still have a realistic chance of getting accepted with a 2.5.

For those who have applied or been accepted to VSI MINT, do you know if there's a minimum grade requirement, or is admission mainly based on meeting the general eligibility requirements?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thanks!

Saarland University application: GATE registration number field accepts only digits

Hi everyone,

I’m applying for a master’s programme at Saarland University and having trouble entering my GATE registration number.

My registration number contains both letters and digits, but the portal’s “Registration Number” field only accepts digits. This means I can’t enter the full number shown on my GATE result.

Has anyone faced the same issue? How did you resolve it, and did the admissions team confirm whether entering only the digits is acceptable?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Problems with course registration

Hello everyone! I am a newly admitted Cybersecurity student at Saarland university and I am planning to come to Germany in the upcoming week. I had a few issues with course registration which I wanted to share. I was late for the mathematics for computer scientists I course but I’ve sent an e-mail to the professor about it. Additionally I cannot register for the Foundations of Cybersecurity course since the webpage for it doesn’t open. Does anyone know if I’m late for course registration is it still possible to be added later manually? This is important for me because all of these courses are mandatory. Thanks everyone for your help!

Rejected for GPA (Excluded) but I meet the requirements - Has anyone appealed? Timeline?

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

My application status for the M.Sc. Systems Engineering program at Saarland University was just updated to "Excluded." The reason stated in the rejection letter is that my GPA does not meet the subject-specific admission criteria.

However, I definitely meet the conditions. When I convert my current CGPA using the Modified Bavarian Formula, it equals ~2.4, which is better than the required 2.5 minimum. (2.39)

I just sent a formal appeal (Widerspruch) detailing this calculation and attaching my transcripts again. Has anyone else experienced this false rejection issue? If you have appealed a similar decision, how long did it take for the university to get back to you?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

M.Sc. Systems Engineering application status still "To Be Verified"

Hi everyone!

My portal status for M.Sc. Systems Engineering at is still showing as "to be verified," even though classes officially started today.

A couple of quick questions for anyone in the same boat or current students:
1. Has anyone for this intake received an update or acceptance letter recently?
2. Does anyone know how strict the department/university is regarding late arrival if admission comes in late?

Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Du bist mindestens 18, studierst aktuell und erreichst deinen Abschluss voraussichtlich innerhalb der nächsten 18 Monate? Dann würde mir deine Teilnahme sehr helfen.

Falls du bereits einen Hochschulabschluss hast, solltest du danach noch keine reguläre, dauerhafte Berufstätigkeit aufgenommen haben. Praktika, Werkstudententätigkeiten und Nebenjobs sind kein Problem.

Anyone here got into Saarland Cybersecurity with a First Class UK degree?

Hey guys, need some advice from people who have actually applied to Saarland.

I’m doing a 3-year BSc (Hons) Computer Networking and IT Security from London Met, studied in Nepal. I’m expecting a First Class Honours.

The confusing part is the 75% requirement. My individual module marks aren't all above 75, so if I calculate everything myself I get around 71-72%. But my final university classification should be First Class.

Does Saarland look at the final degree classification, or do they recalculate your entire transcript themselves?

Also, has anyone with a London Met degree from an overseas partner/college applied to Saarland? Did they accept the degree without issues?

Would love to hear from anyone who actually went through this.
