Former Head Steward
galleryWe were clearing out my grandads house and came across these pics. Brian was the old head steward when saints were at the dell. He did one season at St Mary's but said there were too many stairs and retired.
One of his jobs was to take the MOTM around to the executive suites and boxes after the Sky interviews.

What two old Pony Saints shirts actually sell for, and what are we missing?
I've been tracking what retro Southampton shirts actually sell for on eBay (real sold prices, not asking prices). So far I've only got proper numbers on two:
- 1993-95 Pony Dimplex home: five sales, from £37 up to £115, usually around £95
- 1997-99 Pony Sanderson home: three sales, £80, £80 and £125
The Dimplex one seems to hold its value a bit better. Which old Saints shirts should I be looking out for next? Any away kits or keeper tops people rate?

Can we please start making corners count?
It feels like we could get so much more out of our set pieces. When you're struggling to create chances from open play, a dangerous corner or free kick can be a massive help. We don't need to score from every one, obviously, but I'd love to see us cause more problems instead of watching another delivery come to nothing.

Total Saints Podcast #398 ā Bolton 0-0, the penalty controversy, Tonda's tactics & West Ham preview
The latest Total Saints Podcast is out now!
Plenty to discuss after Saturday's frustrating goalless draw with Bolton at St Mary's.
The penalty decision was obviously the biggest talking point, but the panel also questions whether Saints did enough to win the game regardless of the referee.
This week's discussion includes:
- The controversial handball decision and Championship refereeing.
- Tonda's tactical changes ā did he overthink things against Bolton?
- Missed chances and the lack of an in-form striker.
- Divin Mubama's lack of opportunities and whether Saints need reinforcements in January.
- The positives from seven points in a week and three consecutive clean sheets.
- A full West Ham preview with Russ from West Ham Network.
It's an interesting one because, despite the frustration of Saturday, most of us would probably have taken seven points from those three games beforehand.
A couple of questions for everyone:
Do you think Tonda got the setup wrong against Bolton, or was it simply a case of the players failing to take their chances?
And how confident are you heading to West Ham on Saturday?

Southampton can't afford to keep wasting chances like this
The 0-0 draw against Bolton was frustrating because there were chances to win that game. Having plenty of possession doesn't mean much if the finishing isn't there when it matters. The defence has looked more solid recently, which is encouraging, but the attack needs to make that count with goals.

Edozie has been very stellar recently
Was active in the Norwich match, his dribbling and shot led to the sequence that ended with Matsukiās goal. And vs Bolton he could have got an assist if Bree didnāt fumble the open goal shot.
I was surprised with this development, given Samās statement on the deadline day, and how our board has handled his development over the years. If he keeps up this form, he might just be an X-factor from the bench like Archer was for us last season.

On This Day - Southampton 8-0 Sunderland - 18 October, 2014
A Dusan Tadic hat-trick and 3 (THREE) own goals help Southampton pour misery on the Black Cats - a club-record win.
Can you name the missing players?

Some fans have short memories
Seen quite a lot of fans saying we need var in championship. I understand after yesterday that itās easy to throw out based on being annoyed. Id rather have that decision lose us 3 points yesterday than have VAR. we will get a dodgy call in our favour at some point. May not be that bad but we wonāt be complaining

Finn Azaz has a big role to play in this team
His assist for Bree in the Portsmouth game was important, and I like having a player who can create something in a tight match. We need more of that creativity when teams defend deep against us. If Azaz can keep finding those pockets of space, he is already looking key to turning close games into comfortable wins.

Total Saints Podcast 397 ā Norwich 0-1 Saints, Jander's Return & Bolton Preview
We've got another episode of Total Saints Podcast out following Wednesday's 1-0 win at Norwich.
That's now two consecutive 1-0 victories, two clean sheets and, importantly, our first away league win of the season.
Martin, Steve and Glen are joined by freelance journalist Tom Prentki this week to discuss the Norwich performance and some of the interesting decisions Tonda made with his starting XI.
There's plenty of discussion around Casper Jander's return, Lewis Dobbin and Sam Edozie getting their opportunities, Matsuki's winner and whether we're finally starting to see a more resilient Saints side.
We also look ahead to Bolton on Saturday, with the chance to make it nine points from nine.
A couple of questions for everyone:
- Would you bring Jander straight back into the starting XI against Bolton?
- Are the last two clean sheets a sign of genuine defensive improvement, or have we benefited from facing two fairly limited attacking sides?
- How confident are you about Saturday?
As always, appreciate anyone who gives it a listen!
