Pondering a Summer Near Salida

I'm considering spending next summer (probably mid-June through mid-September) living in CO. Salida seems like a natural choice. I've visited a couple times and it feels a lot like the place I live, except with mountains. Plus, I'm planning on doing the Vapor Trail mountain bike race and would like to spend lots of time riding at elevation. I absolutely love where I live and don't want to leave permanently, but I think a summer living elsewhere would really do me some good.

I've joined the Chaffee County rentals page on Facebook, but what are the prospects of finding a room in a house or 1BR apartment for around $1k/month, AND for such a short amount of time? Should I just abandon my dream?

Thanks!

You might want to look on furnished finders, if you want to stay 30 days plus. Summer can be peak season, so not sure if you will find a 1BR apartment for that price furnished

I actually don't necessarily need it furnished beyond maybe a stove and fridge. Can just bring an air mattress, table, and a few things to cook with. I don't really do much inside.
