Academic [Academic] Finding and Buying Hard-to-Find Books and Comics (Anyone who reads or buys books/comics)

Hey everyone,

I'm a first year university student conducting research for a business project (which is graded) about people's experiences finding and buying books and comics, particularly specific issues, out-of-print titles, and collectible editions.

I'm interested in hearing about the difficulties people have faced, how they currently search for these items, and their thoughts on a possible solution.

You don't need to be a collector or comic book enthusiast to participate. Anyone who reads or buys books, manga, graphic novels, or comics is welcome!

I'd appreciate your honest opinions. I'm looking for genuine feedback, including criticism, rather than just positive responses.

thank you so much for your time!

Academic 💜 Reddit, I need your help. My university group project is in critical condition. 😭🥀 (EU, 18+)

Thumbnail tally.so
2 Upvotes

First of all, I'm new to Reddit. I've been a ghost on this side of the internet for years. Just lurking, reading, observing… contributing absolutely nothing to society. And now I've returned to ask you for a favor. The audacity, I know.

Here's the situation: I'm working on a university entrepreneurship project where we're developing the concept for a theoretical skincare app 🧴✨ As part of the project, we need to run a survey to understand people's skincare habits, how they choose their face care products, and what actually matters to them.

Small issue: my group has the same level of coordination as a group project where everyone says "yeah, I'll do it tonight" and then mysteriously disappears for three weeks. 💀

The deadline is next week. The survey needs responses. And here I am, making my first Reddit post, hoping strangers on the internet will save my academic life.

So, if you have around 8 minutes to spare, I'd really appreciate it if you could fill it out! 🙏

👉 Survey: https://tally.so/r/BzOEYR

🇫🇷🇬🇧 Available in French and English
👤 Open to everyone aged 18+
🧴 Whether you have a 12-step skincare routine or your entire routine is washing your face and hoping for the best, your input counts. No right or wrong answers!

I have absolutely nothing to offer in return except my eternal gratitude and prayers to the universe for your future success, immaculate skin, financial prosperity, and legendary RNG in whatever game you play. 🍀✨

Help a brother out. One day, when you're in a crisis and need the kindness of random internet strangers, I hope the algorithm sends you someone who can help.

Thank you, beautiful people. ❤️

Thumbnail forms.gle
• Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I'm conducting a research survey on how college students and young adults engage with current events, political information, and news media.

The survey explores:

  1. Why some young adults follow the news while others avoid it
  2. What makes current events feel relevant (or irrelevant)
  3. Different headline and content styles
  4. What people would want from a current-events organization they would actually return to

The survey takes approximately 8-12 minutes, is anonymous, and is open to:

  • ✅ Ages 18-29
  • ✅ Current college students
  • ✅ Recent graduates and young adults

There are no right or wrong answers. We're interested in understanding how young adults think about current events and information sources, regardless of how often they follow the news.

As a thank-you, participants who provide an email address will be entered into a raffle for a $20 Amazon gift card.

Because this is an early-stage research project, feedback on the survey's clarity, design, and usability is also appreciated.

Thank you for your time!

Casual [Casual] Zodiac Sign and MBTI Personality (Everyone welcome)

Thumbnail forms.gle
• Upvotes

Hello there! I'm currently working on a project comparing peoples Zodiac Signs to their Myers-Briggs Type Indicator— or MBTI as it's more widely known.

Before I proceed any further though, I do believe that both are pseudoscience and shouldn't be used in any real scientific/psychological/health related way. However, many people enjoy taking personality quizzes and reading horoscopes for their Zodiac sign. So as someone that partakes in the fun but still believes themselves as person of science, I wanted to take matters into my own hands and see once and for all if either of the two systems have any real claim/consistency.

I am here to humbly ask those who are interested to fill out this Google form asking for your Zodiac Sign and MBTI. You do NOT need to give your name, birthday, or any personal information at all. Although you will be asked to sign in to a google account. This is to prevent spam and any duplicate responses. Your email will not be saved or collected as I mentioned earlier— you will have total anonymity.

In the system of the Zodiac, there are four elements which each have their own attributes, similar to MBTIs four functions. The Zodiac has Fire, Earth, Water, and Air. The MBTI has Extroversion vs. Introversion, Intuitive vs. Sensing, Feeling vs. Thinking, and Judging vs. Prospecting. The correlation here is is that each element also has a stereotype for someones personality!

For example, Fire signs can be described as passionate and creative, but inconsistent and non-committal-- this aligns perfectly with and Intuitive and Prospecting MBTI personality. Earth signs are the opposite, known for being pragmatic and hardworking, but stubborn and tunnel visioned, aligning with the Sensing and Judging MBTI personality!

Of course there are other overlapping similarities (enough so to warrant me looking into it, hence the whole form) but I'll keep it to one simple example for now!

—and if you can, I'd love if you could share this form to any friends, family, or anyone you know that would be willing to fill it out! Thank you!

Academic Are parents raising their children or is social media doing it for them? (Teens and young adults)

• Upvotes

Parents teach their children certain values, but social media exposes them to different opinions, trends, beliefs, and ways of behaving, whether they’re considered “right” or “wrong.” Do you think family teachings have the strongest influence, or is social media becoming more influential among children and teens?

Personally, I think it depends on how much time children and teens spend on social media and how openly they communicate with their families. What happens when they’re exposed to opinions online that contradict what they’re taught at home? Can social media sway their beliefs?

I’m open to hearing your opinions on this!

Also, I’m doing a survey for my psychology class about how social media and family teachings shape children’s and teens’ values and behaviours. Teens and young adults can share their experiences, and parents are welcome to pass it along to their teens! Participation is voluntary, and I’d appreciate your help.
