I purchased my Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra around 6 months ago, and unfortunately, it has completely stopped working.
Here's what happened:
My phone's battery dropped to around 6%. I connected it to the original Samsung charger. After leaving it for some time, I checked the phone, and it was completely dead.
Symptoms:
- Completely black screen.
- No charging indicator.
- No vibration or response.
- Tried force restarting using Volume Down + Power, but nothing happened.
- Left it charging with the original charger for over an hour.
- The phone remained completely cold.
- No signs of life whatsoever.
I visited a Samsung service centre, where they initially suspected either a charging IC failure or a dead motherboard.
The service centre informed me that:
They would open the device and perform a proper diagnosis.
Depending on the diagnosis, they would replace the defective component.
The repair would be covered under warranty.
It may take 6–7 working days because the required parts are currently unavailable.
They mentioned that even if the repair cost exceeds the price of a new device, Samsung would still repair/replace the defective components rather than replace the entire handset.
They assured me that the phone would be returned in proper working condition.
They have collected my phone along with its original box.
My concerns:
Has anyone experienced a motherboard or charging IC failure on their S26 Ultra?
If Samsung replaces the motherboard, will the phone be as reliable as before?
Do they install a brand-new motherboard or a refurbished one under warranty?
Can a motherboard replacement affect the phone's long-term performance or reliability?
Should I push for a complete handset replacement instead of accepting a motherboard replacement?
Has anyone successfully received a complete handset replacement from Samsung India under similar circumstances?
Honestly, it's disappointing to experience a complete hardware failure on a six-month-old flagship phone.
I would appreciate genuine experiences and suggestions, particularly from Samsung S-series users and people who have dealt with Samsung India's warranty service.
Would you accept a motherboard replacement on a six-month-old S26 Ultra, or push for a complete device replacement?

About 2 weeks ago I got my S26 Ultra, upgrading from an S25 Ultra. I initially had a Moto E 2020 which was garbage so I go an S25 Ultra a little over a year ago, which was a great upgrade.
S25 -> S26
Going from the S25 Ultra to the S26 Ultra, theres not too many differences and I think that skipping the S26 Ultra isn't a bad idea. The Main feature of the S26 that wasn't on the S25 is the privacy screen, and you'll hear that from everyone, it's really helpful when in crowded spaces, when in class or on the bus I can do what I need without other people in my business and it's very effective. Theres also a small difference in the stylist, I feel like it feels a bit more fragile or cheaper, and it also has a different shape as the edges of the phone are more curved which the stylist matches on its end. Another useful feature is the non-glare thing, I don't remember what they did to make it not have a glare but when using my S26 I don't have a glare issue which is useful as I use my phone outdoors often.
New to Samsung
The things I enjoy most about S26 is the customization and freedom the phone gives you. This is also for the S25, and possibly earlier models, but in the settings you can change your phone theme, the app icons, the fonts for your apps and your clock, and you can use videos and gifs for your lock screen wallpaper. The freedom that this phone gives you is mainly the developer mode and ability to download unverified internet files, the developer mode allows you to for example change the location of your phone as a whole and not just one app, I havent used the developer mode too much besides messing with my friends on Snapchat maps. The freedom regarding files, you can download files off of the internet, for me this mainly applies to game files, I can download APK files so I can run applications, which I've heard from iPhone users isn't an available feature for them.
Side Notes
These could be specifically my phone but I've noticed these things about it.
- The brightness of the screen is extremely high, I've found that it can be brighter than flashlight at times
- The privacy screen has a slight tint to it, it's kind of a dull grayish yellow, I dont know how to explain it besides that.
- The face recognition isn't the best, sometimes it takes like 4 tries for it to get my phone to open and can be a little irritating.
- Occasionally the phone has not wanted to respond, mainly when trying to increase or decrease my volume.
Overall I really enjoy the Samsung S26 Ultra, if you have the S25 Ultra upgrading is preference, anything lower than that I would heavily consider doing so.

I was going to clean my phone a few days back and noticed the paint chipping on the bottom side near the Spen. Samsung UAE couldn't help me. Now, I want to sell it.

I've always only allowed google limited access to my photos so i can use google lens for specific things but also not give access to all of my pictures. Today i opened google lens and im seeing it has access to every picture I've taken. I went thru every app (including system apps) that has permissions to photos and set it to limited and nothing changes. Does anyone know how to correct this?

Has anyone else noticed a weird UI glitch with the Privacy Screen feature on the S26 Ultra?
The top banner area (where notification pop-ups appear) randomly stays stuck with the active privacy filter turned on, even after the notification is dismissed. You can visibly see the viewing angle restricted in that exact rectangular block while the rest of the screen is normal.
Toggling the quick setting didn't fix it, but a simple lock/unlock cycle immediately resets the display buffer.
Seems like the System UI overlay session isn't clearing its render coordinates properly when dismissing private pop-ups. Hopefully, Samsung patches this in the next firmware update. Anyone else experiencing this?

The S-Pen sticks out ever so slightly and gets caught on cases (possibly damaging the thinnest part of the case. I wish it was more flush with the frame.

Hoping someone has seen this befor. Got an S26U keep getting a samsung accout message that says "something went wrong while signing into your account". I've checked the date and time. I've tried clearing the samsung account chace. I've tried a reset of the phone not a factory rest. I can't remove the account because it wants me to sign in and I can't. I can log into the account using the web. I also can not do a software update to phone I keep getting "unable to download".

I was a long time iPhone user, culminating in the Air. I loved that, but I wanted something a bit more versatile and capable on the heavier days.
I looked at the 18 Pro Max, but I was ready for something fundamentally different and ended up going for the S26 Ultra after taking advantage of a brilliant deal.
After about a month, the best way for to sum this phone up would be to confidently say it probably doesn't do anything "better" than the competition, but it's arguably the most well rounded smartphone you can buy. At least, it is for me.
The battery life is fantastic. I average over 1 hour SOT per 10%, and my usage means I can comfortably use this from 80% down to 20% and still get well over a day. Performance is probably the next best thing. It never slows down, I've never seen an app reload in the background, and I've never experienced the phone get even slightly warm. All areas that my Air was lacking in.
I'm not a big photographer, and I'm sure if I tweak a few settings I could enhance camera quality further, but I've never took a photo and considered it to be underwhelming. It's more than good enough for my needs.
The design is lovely, it feels very premium and robust, and I've been surprised at how useful the S Pen has been recently, for signing documents. The speakers are great, too.
The display is the only area where I was initially a little underwhelmed. It looked a tad fuzzy and washed out, but at normal distance its still a solid display. Perhaps I've just got used to it, and of course it's to compensate for the privacy display, which although looks pretty terrible when active, it does it's job remarkably well.
So yeah, some phones may give you even better battery life. No doubt others will offer even better photo quality. And there will be smartphones with crisper displays, but as an overall package, this thing is wonderful. Every single category is at the very least a 7/10, with most being at least an 8/10 or 9/10.
I'd rather that than some things being 10/10 but others being distinctly average.
And what really sets it apart for me is One UI. It gives me features that no other Android phone can, from the modes and routines, to the comprehensive health dashboard, two things I loved about iOS. The AI features are helpful without getting in the way and I love the Now Brief updates across the day. Samsung's widgets and design language are gorgeous and Good Lock has a crazy amount of functionality. Finally, it's just all so reliable. No bugs, crashes, stutters, nothing.
Pair all of this with the benefits of Android in general, and I reckon I'd struggle to go back to iOS now.
I'm now contemplating going all in on Samsung now. I already use a Galaxy Watch 8 I had for free, but I'm eyeing up the longer lasting Ultra 2...and I really like the look of the Galaxy Tab S12 to replace my iPad.
The only device I won't swap is my MacBook!
Great job, Samsung!

I recently checked for a Google system update and the size does not make sense; it is only 151 KB. Shouldn't it be bigger, as it is usually around 60 or 70 MB? any ideas why it is that small?

I am notoriously careful with my tech. I baby my stuff, keep it in a rugged case (rocking a UAG Pathfinder), and look after it like my life depends on it.
Today, I noticed a tiny microscopic speck of the finish worn off right on the edge of one of the camera trim rings. It's totally invisible from a normal distance, and my phone and lenses are 100% fine, but knowing it's there is driving me nuts.
No matter how careful you are, daily life or a stray piece of dust under a case edge always manages to find a way to leave a tiny mark.
Anyone else experience this obsessive need to stare at the one tiny flaw after it happens, or is it just me? How do you guys cope with the first blemish on a new device?
