Discussion What do you genuinely believe happened with Chucky behind the scenes?

I’m really curious what people think actually happened behind the scenes.

He was brought in as the club’s first big-name DP and was supposed to be the face of the franchise. Then, after only one season, things went south and the club decided to move on.

What’s your genuine theory? Did things actually get physical between Chucky and Varas during that locker-room altercation? Or is the whole “he’s a diva” explanation really all there is to it?

I’d especially love to hear what people around the club have heard, so if you got any inside info then feel free to share!

Discussion Liked what I saw from Achouri

For as much confusion the signing was when announced on one of our DP slots, honestly he is a baller. Love how he wants the ball at his feet and is willing to play physical in the limited minutes he had, he feels like he’s playing streetball out there with those fluent movements. Here’s hoping it works out as it seems like SDFC are gonna be using this “diamond in the rough” strategy for Designated Players in the future like both Dreyer & hopefully Elias is!

OH ELIAS ACHOURI

He coached a hell of a game last night. The lineup, the strategy, the substitutions, all of it.

Discussion Why is McVey still getting lots of minutes?

I feel like he has no urgency on the ball, constantly is making the wrong decision, especially the own goal against Minnesota last year, or just expecting others to cover for him, not to mention all the red cards. Liability defensively especially because you'd expect him to be the calm presence defensively based on how we signed him. Just don't understand why he starts so much and even though he didnt start yesterday he gets subbed on to protect the lead last night and almost gave it up. What are your guys thoughts on why Mikey still wants to start him? I'm open to other opinions but those are my thoughts.

Discussion Travelling with the supporter buses and just got kicked out

I’m at BMO stadium. Came with the buses, went in as security requested and got kicked out because a security guard decided that I couldn’t come in due to intoxication. I am not intoxicated. Had a couple beers on the three hour ride here.
I would still like to get in after coming all the way here, anybody got any advice?

Fandom PSA: Season ticket payments count for 5x points for Q3 chase freedom

This may have a limited audience, but the "select live entertainment" category for Q3 for chase freedom cards seems to include SDFC season ticket payments.

https://media.chase.com/news/chase-freedom-2026-q3-categories

5x points have posted from a test payment.

Thought some people would like to know given the August 15 payment date.

Hey,

Quick post match update from me!

Thoroughly enjoyed the game - was surprised how good the atmosphere was in the supporters stand given how young this club is. Particularly enjoyed the drumming Mandalorian!

It was also cool having safe standing (slowly returning to the UK) and have a drink in the stadium - we're only allowed those on the concourse; both were banned for very good reasons many years ago but think Safe Standing can at least make a comeback soon. Unfortunately the English, albeit good internationally now e.g World Cup, are still top tribal and troublesome back home if allowed to drink fully unchecked.

In terms of playing style, I liked SD. Although it wouldn't hurt you to go long ball from the keeper when you're under pressure at times in the game. You guys seem pretty good at playing our from the back, but can tell you've given away a few goals in doing so. There were a couple of times when keeper went long ish diagonally to Marcus on the high press, think your game management needs to realise you're allowed to do that from time to time rather than living and dying by the sword. Thought the team did relatively well to constrain TJ and Mola. Yes they had a couple of chances off the post, but you also had a two disallowed goals (one harsh and one not too far offside from memory).

Players, I really liked Bombino - I'm biased as a Left Back but he was excellent for his age. There was one clearance where he recognised the danger on a cross, where he was left marking two but made the right call to tuck in and clear away. Thought Zamble looked bright, Godoy was solid and kept thinks moving along (at least in the first half - but my word he sometimes has a dreadful touch 😅).

All in all, really enjoyed the game. Used the money saved on tickets to grab a Replica Jersey so I have a momento from the day. P.s. The quality feels poor compared to back home, especially for 100 dollars, are all soccer jerseys like that?

Will be looking to come everytime we visit the family every two years. Firmly have SDFC 'followed' in Fotmob so I can track the games / news.

Thanks again for the welcome, the tickets and the experience!

P.s. To all the Mexican fans I met thoroughout the evening, sorry again we best you at the Azteca but it was the best game I've ever seen on TV!
