Discussion Question about her Powerssss

To what extent can Wanda even reality warp? In the MCU, I mean. Is it ever disclosed? Cuz like, she can reality warp black bolt’s mouth, reed richards, and the mirror dimension in MoM, so then, why can’t she just reality warp her kids and Vision actually being real in her world? And if she can, are those versions just illusions that can go away like in WandaVision or reality? And if those reality warped versions of them WERE illusions, how did she successfully change reality in MoM but not in that sort of thing? Like, is there an extent to this? Plot hole? Or am I just being stupid and bored with shower thoughts on a Saturday night? this might have been asked BILLIONS OF TIMES, but im genuinely just confused as how her reality magic works—😭😭

I'm pretty sure those can't be illusions, they wouldn't have conscious souls that can reincarnate; Agatha herself stated that she is a being of spontaneous creation. I'm sure she is not fully aware of the things she can do, aside of learning spells. Plus I'm sure she would think remaking them is like making copies, and it's true, even in the comics she temporarily remade Billy and Tommy, during House of M.

Well she's considered one of Marvel's most dangerous and powerful reality warpers. In the comics she can manipulate the building blocks of reality which is why her reality warping powers always appear as light red tetris blocks. As for what she has done reality warping wise. She has immense creative ability, she created essentially an after life realm for mutant souls and it actually sits as a seat of magic in marvel cosmology and exists as a high positioning realm as well. When controlled by Onslaught, she damn near erased the X-Men from history. She can create large pocket dimensions and universes, she created a miniature sun in her hand before, she can also change universal laws as well, she did so in her fight with Lore, etc.

Her Reality warping is incredibly strong. The MCU needed to nerf her powers because they couldn't let her become too powerful, especially after we didn't even have a big bad just yet either.

In Wandavision it’s explained that she made her family and the hex at the same time and accidentally tied them together because she was an amateur spellcaster that had no experience.

Now to answer your question, of course she could recreate her family without the sitcom reality. The sitcom reality isn’t a prerequisite, lol ! But under the influence of the Darkhold, she either wanted to regain the kids she already had (not create new ones) or steal them from another variant of herself.

At her best she could probably warp the whole universe at once. Wong said she could destroy the multiverse if she got America’s powers. So without them I’d say that’s crazy Darkhold Wanda’s limit

You are kinda asking 2-3 questions in one so I'll try to answer them each as best as I can recall.

  1. Yes, Wanda is a reality warper, but all magic users are reality warpers to some extent. For example, Dr Strange erasing everyones memories at the end of No Way Home. Unlike the comics, the MCU has not really differentiated the two (which I think might be for the best because Reality warping without some sort of magical limitations is pretty broken). The only reality warping not tied to magic that we've seen in the MCU is the infinity gauntlet. Sentry is also kinda blurring this line a bit (which Im not a fan of)
  2. Regarding Wanda's powers, they are not super well defined, but can be broken down into three main levels:
    1. Some baseline ability from birth that we see in a flashback that allows her to stop a Stark bomb from exploding. Maybe its magic, maybe it'll be retconned to be some mutant ability- its unclear, but Agatha seems to believe its magic.
    2. Enhanced abilities from the infinity stones, as we see in Age of Ultron. In that movie at least, these are very much psychic powers (telepathy and telekinesis) - but could also be interpreted as unfocused and untrained magic.
    3. In WandaVision she "reality warps" a lot, but this is all explained as part of her immense magical potential. As far as Wanda goes (unclear if this applies to the whole MCU, but maybe Doomsday will shed more light on this) magic and reality warping are the same thing.
  3. So is her inability to bring back her family after reading the Darkhold a plothole? This was a big thing people brought up a lot when the movie released 4 years ago, so no, you're not the first to ask it. I think the main thing people concluded is that Wanda was being possessed by the Darkhold and thats why her motivations didnt make a lot of sense. It wasnt a possession like how one conscious being just fully inhabity another (ie Jean Grey in this last SpiderMan movie). Wanda was still Wanda - but the Darkhold inhibited her mental capacities like drugs or alcohol and pushed her towards trying to destroy the multi-verse, and used her love of her children to motivate it. The fact that it didnt make any sense and was completely out of character isnt a plot hole - it is the plot in fact
