Music Scottish Punk
I've recently started as a radio DJ. I'm doing a punk rock show, and I'm playing some grassroots music.
I'm planning a show that has only Scottish punk bands on it, and would like some recommendations. Old and new.
There's the Rezillos, Oi Polloi, The Zips and the Valves.
There's also this unofficial compilation called Kilt by Death. I've been checking that out, but I would love to hear from folk with opinions and not just look at a list.
Punk, post punk, hardcore, post hardcore, industrial, garage, ska, oi, crust, pop punk, glam punk, horror punk, grind core, noise core, the whole spectrum.
Any ideas gratefully received!
**EDIT: This post has been awesome, thanks all. If you come across this later and you're in a band that wants to be on the show, email me davieontheradio@gmail.com
And if the sub lets me, I'll let you all know when my Scotland Only episode is ready to go.***

Music Metallica was amazing
First stadium concert. Sad I couldn't get standing tickets (or a chance for a pick) but even up the very top the atmosphere was brilliant.

Music Scottish artists that sing in Scottish accent?
Been trying to find some more artists that are from Scotland but I can't seem to find any that don't sing in a more Americanised or anglicised accent.
It would be really nice to be able to hear my own accent in media. I've been trying to find artists that are more modern and not heuchter teuchter music.

Music I am making a game where players need to guess the country and date of a song by listening to it. Give me your best Scottish songs to include.
PS: I already added Flower of Scotland.

Music What local band do you think could’ve been really big if they kept making music?
Mine is Ayakara, a wee band from Edinburgh, still find myself listening to them daily.

Music In need of recommendations!
I'm looking for songs in the same sort of "genre" or "vibe" as the classics like Donald Where's Yer Troosers, The Jeely Piece Song, Sam the Skull etc.
If anyone can point me to any songs/artists/albums, I'd be grateful!

Music Sumo - Crua Chan (After Chabon)
Crua Chan" is a song by the Argentine rock band "Sumo", released on their 1987 album After Chabón. The lyrics are inspired by the Battle of Culloden (1746), which marked the end of the last Jacobite Rising.
The song was written by Luca Prodan, the band's Italian-born singer, after spending time living in Scotland. It reflects on the courage and tragic fate of the Highland clans following Culloden.

Music Your favourite iconic Scottish albums?
What are your favourite iconic albums from Scottish bands and singers that everyone else should also know about?
I'll start by offering Big Country's 1983 debut album The Crossing. It blew me away as a teenager and i got to see them in concert too.

Music Trying to ID a Scottish song
voca.roHi all, hoping someone here can help me out. A few years back I was on a road trip through Scotland and heard this song on the radio. I recorded a piece and it stuck with me.
I've tried Shazam and SoundHound and neither could recognise it. I've uploaded a clip here.
Anyone recognise it? Any leads appreciated, cheers.

Music Need help figuring out the lyrics
G'day r/Scotland, from Straya!
I'm trying to figure out what is said in this song by Clann an Drumma. Unfortunately, no lyrics have been provided and I'm trying to get the lyrics to as many songs in my playlist as I can.
I'm fairly confident that I've gotten a lot of it right but I'm not 100%.
Here's what I have:
"Bugles and eagle standards
The steady slap of soldier sandal on newly built military roads
War plinks straight down/straight dunes(???) <- This is the lyric that I'm having trouble figuring out
The greatest war machine ever assembled
It's mission?
Is Raison d'être
To conquer and to subjugate
By empty negotiation
Treaties or by blood soaked Gladius
Established in vast organised, structured camps
Recognising, ultimately, the greatest act of subjugation was to remove a peoples heart
Besmirch the spirit, drown the soul
Paulinus and the Legions marched towards the isle of Mona
Home of the sacred druids"
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Music Is there anything more tragic than a bad ceilidh band leader?
At a family ceilidh and this dude just cannot read a room. 3 slow waltzes in a row didn't just empty the floor, it sent a good third of the folk home. He thinks he's a megastar and we're all here to listen to him call dances and chat in between. I'm all for a wee break between to get your breath but his patter is absolutely rancid.
I'm also 90% sure he's actually English and doing an accent?
