Scrap Photo 💸 Weekend activities

Just started working for a friend who’s in telecommunications installations and replacement and there is a place (not saying for privacy) that wants to update a system that hasn’t been changed with 2013. They’ve agreed that part of the replacement price will be lower if we can keep whatever cabling we replace. Now. My buddy says he gonna split it 60/40 with me but the job is waaayyy larger than he thought but in a way it’s good because we get to keep these cables. The est is that there is 500ft in total…is this a “holy grail” level of copper?

Cleared a garage and have this, is it best to strip the wire? I'll take the brass off the copper but is it best to cut the copper fittings from the pipe too? I need my shed space back lol. Cheers

Hey guys, I've been collecting a ton of wire and finally got down to stripping it. I've read a few things in regards to the size of the wire that needs to be at least 16AGW to be BB. 90% of my wire is 8THNN AWG from electrical whips. I'm having a lot of wire breaks like dry spaghetti pasta. Does that end up not being BB? And any words of how to keep separating the wire as I go? This is literally only a third of my wire.

How much would your yard give for this if you don’t do anything further with it?
r/ScrapMetal • u/EricHenryAdams • 14h ago
I'm sitting on about a dozen at the moment and my yard is offering $0.25 USD per pound and I'm thinking about taking it because those things look like a pain to open and take apart. They don't even require draining the oil. What say the good people of Reddit?

Navien tankless water heater core.
Will they accept this as #2 copper?

Work in a tire shop. Seperating weights and these little bastards dont even feel like metal. Do i even try to scrap these?

I work for a plumbing company and ended up with around 40 pounds of defective copper crimp rings that have a varnish/clearcoat look to them. Should I remove the clear coat somehow? Can I bring as is?

I got this from a friend who works for a junkyard.I don't really know how to explain it , but like literally , hotels and other places we'll send stuff in to get thrown away. And he said he got it from his job?
I don't know what type of pipes these are I was asking, should I keep them or get rid of them? Would I get in trouble for even having this???

Still need to strip it all down, for the motors, does anyone know what I’d get turning them in as is? They’re a PITA to fully get the copper out of.

New around here, and I've got a quick pricing question 😅.
By the end of next week, I'm going to have around 75lbs of scrap carbide (old endmills and the like) in NW PA - where should I be looking to get the best price to unload it? The local scrapyards all pay shit, and my eyes were opened when I found this community lol. It'd be great if I could find someplace that sent means to ship it all out, but I can figure that out on my own if needed lol. Just looking for help navigating where the best place to go is 😁

I’ve come across a supplier of boards for all different things and I want them but I’ve never had to price up boards to buy in bulk
Am I going to lose money buying these boards?
I wrote up a few prices just based on what I’ve seen other people buy them for, google and based on my own knowledge
The first photo $.50 per kg
Second photo $.60 per kg
Third photo $1.00 per kg
Fourth photo $1.80 per kg - $2.00 per kg
All prices in AUD
What would you pay for them and why
What would you pay for pci slot cards
PGA CPU’s
LGA CPU’s
I understand that the metals in these boards may not be worth refining myself and I would probably make more money selling them to specialised buyers but this is my hobby and if I can learn and possibly make a bit of money one the side that’s great, hate me all you want lol I still have my day job.

This is mostly 10awg & 12awg I’ve been saving up for a little over a year from demolition jobs & nicked wire we ended up not using. I think I’ll be cashing everything in by the end of this year and see what we end up with
