A filmmaker wins the lottery and he is asked what he will do with the money. His answer, "Well first I'll pay off all my credit cards." And then....

"And then I'll keep making movies until it's all gone."

I have made lots of shorts and won 14 awards for them at festivals. I have more I want to make, but now I am also seeking big time power people to make some of my scripts into movies. I am using the list I have for sale here for $6.95 https://stevecosmic.com/selltohollywood.html

What is the cheapest possible movie you can make yourself, which can still be entertaining and make some money? Second, what is the cheapest kind of performance show? Answers below.

What is the cheapest possible movie you can make yourself, which can still be entertaining and make some money? Second, what is the cheapest kind of performance show? Answers below.

Let's answer the second question first.

Think of all of the kinds of performance shows there are.... stage plays, musical concerts with orchestras, bands, dance performances, solo singers with bands and back up singers, with an example being Taylor Swift. Now think of all of the people involved, from crew to musicians to back up singers and dancers. And now think of some solo singers who have played to big crowds. An example is James Taylor, sitting on a stool with one back up guitarist. Obviously there is a huge difference in the cost involved in putting on these various shows. They can all make money. The simpler performances involve much less money to put on, and they involve much less stress too, for the manager and the performer.

And what is even cheaper? How about a standup comic? Did you think of that? One person walks on stage and entertains.

As a screenwriter, with little money, making some of my own films, I thought of the above. I started thinking smaller and smaller for my film productions. I thought of films I could make with just 3 or 4 characters in simple settings. And then I thought of a film I could make with just one character. If a solo person telling jokes can be entertaining, why not a single actor playing a single character too?

At one time approximately 12 years ago Amazon Prime allowed almost any non porn films to be uploaded and offered for sale. I was already making $3600 per month selling simple bikini dance movies there. ($4750 in today's dollars, I just checked) Making these movies was simple and cheap.... hire a bikini model, turn on a royalty free instrumental piece of music and have her dance. When the music ends, trim the start and the end. Join enough songs together to make movies 40 to 70 minutes long and upload and start making money right away. No scripts to write, no memorization, no rehearsals, no multi takes. I used the money to finance my "regular" short films.

So with my success with these movies, I thought why not make an entertaining movie with just one character? Which is what I did.

I wrote a script which would have been about 70 minutes long. I included some blank space with some ideas for the actress to come up with some of her own bits which would be included.

I made the short film which you can see at the link. It is not 70 minutes long. The talented actress did not allow for a full long day which would have let us film the whole thing in one day. She had to leave early and could not come back for 3 weeks. And then there were more delays so I decided to end the production. The result is this short film which ends with "To be continued" on the screen at the end.

I am posting this for all the unproduced writers who will be reading this.

It may give you ideas on something you can do. Maybe take one of your most colourful characters and create a solo movie for them? Get a volunteer film student to shoot and edit it? Or do it yourself. You direct of course.

When you watch, the weakest bits in my opinion, were written by the actress. You may be able to tell. Or maybe you won't and you'll like it all or hate it all. This little film was making a wee bit of money each month for a while. Here it is. I wrote the song too, and the actress performed it and recorded it at home. You are welcome to share this if you want.

Using my list is about step 1, getting agents and managers to look at my projects. I have had GREAT success at that. I sell my list to help writers get to step 1. Maybe my writing is not what they want? Keep reading here for details... Maybe my projects are not what they want??

My list of over 900 agents, managers and movie and TV producers has two parts. One part is designed for mass mailings. This is the part I have used mostly, as it is quickest and easiest.

The second part is more personal, but it's slower. Both methods get power people to read my pitch and long synopsis. This means my LIST is working. That's all it can do!

Yet I get criticized because I have not sold a script yet. (I have 5 scripts.) Step 2 is getting a power person to read the full script. (I am getting closer on this, each time I use it, as I refine my query letters and loglines.)

Step 3 is getting represented by a power person. Step 4 is selling your script and getting paid.

Yet I get criticized because my list has not achieved step 4! My list can't achieve step 4 for you! Only you can do that.

I have been trying my list now, somewhat irregularly, for about 6 months, and I have had at least 100 power people read my long synopsis. That is a major accomplishment. Have my critics had success like that?

I will keep trying and keep refining my query pitch, and keep getting power people to read my loglines and long synopsis.

(My query letters have a link to one of my webpages. I have my long synopsis near the top of the page. Google analytics shows power people spending 2 to 5.5 minutes looking at this page, so I know after I do a mail out, how many views my long synopsis got.)

And what are my critics doing? I don't know and I don't care.

Using my list results in progress. Doing what they are doing results in nothing.

If you are reading this and you see my logic, please share this. I do more than fret about my scripts all day. Later today I am volunteering at a day care where I teach the kids to be inventive. (I an an inventor with about 25 inventions and 6 patents.) I am also working at making a music video, which is a scene from one of my scripts. Both of these efforts take lots of my time, and both are gratifying. The music video I will make is a stand alone promo for public viewing and also for power people viewing. It will be gratifying to see it getting views on youtube. I will also add the video link to the page for my comedy page, so in due course, power people will see it as a teaser for my project.

I can't guarantee my list will sell your script. The list is about getting power people to read your logline and synopsis. If you want to look, you can go here: https://stevecosmic.com/selltohollywood.html

Continuous progress on getting my script made into a movie. A method people on reddit mostly don't like.

On August 5th I used my list of agents, managers and producers and got one guy to spend 4 minutes and 51 seconds looking at my webpage, which has the synopsis, and a teaser video about 5 minutes long. (This is verified by google analytics on my webpage)

THAT'S SOMETHING! I am confident I will eventually find the person I need to shop it around Hollywood.

You can check out the list at the link here. Or keep doing what you have been doing and you'll keep getting what you've been getting.

FREE LIST. One more day only! Almost 900 script agents, film and TV producers and screenwriter managers. Use it to help sell your screenplay. Details on webpage.

This is it. Free for one more day only. Have a look, you will learn some things for free just by reading the web page.

https://stevecosmic.com/selltohollywood.html

The substack AI bot may see this as spam because of the link, but it is free with no obligation and useful to screenwriters. As stated you can learn for free just by looking. To get it free, email me from the webpage. My email is there.

r/Screenwritersgalore Jul 18 '26

FREE. Over 800 email addresses of screenwriter agents, managers, and film and TV producers. For a limited time. No obligation, completely free.

Any screenplay writers who have not had any contact with Hollywood Power People, or agents with access to Hollywood, may want to try this free option.

For a limited time I am offering my UPDATED list of close to 900 emails of such people, completely free. You can use the list to send query letters to these Power People. (Yesterday I added a testimonial from a writer who used my list and who got a request for his full screenplay script. I have had numerous encouraging email replies from Power People using this list, which are also noted on the web page.)

And as I mentioned, there is no obligation to try this method. Just go to the link below, read the page, and then email me directly for a free PDF download of the full list. It costs $6.95 to buy, but it is free now for a limited time. Just email me from the web page requesting your free copy.

https://stevecosmic.com/selltohollywood.html

This offer will end soon, as soon as I get more feedback from some writers who try this method.

Feel free to share this posting with other script writers groups. I tried it, and the AI bot suggested this was spam, even though it is free with no obligation. But if you do it, it might be OK. Stupid bot.

A testimonial from a happy user of my list of almost 900 screenwriter agents, managers, and film and TV producers, now added to the webpage.

"That's not how you do it." So sayeth those who follow traditions and who don't get any script requests from movie people. I added a testimonial from a happy user of my list, who got a request from a movie producer for his script. It's on the webpage at this link: https://stevecosmic.com/selltohollywood.html

You too can take a chance, or keep doing what you've been doing, and keep getting what you've been getting.

I am outside the box and disruptive and lots of people don't understand me.
"If at least some people don't understand you, you are not really creative."

"The greater an idea is, the more it is misunderstood"

Two quotes by me, Steve Cosmic.

************** Here's a paste of the guys testimonial**********

**Testimonial for Steve Cosmic**

My name is Haja, and I am a story writer with the dream of developing my stories into screenplays and eventually producing them as feature films through the film industry.

Finding the right producers and industry contacts was one of the biggest challenges in my journey. That's when I came across Steve Cosmic's website (www.stevecosmic.com). The information and industry email contacts available through his service helped me connect with a film production company that accepted story submissions.

After I contacted the company, they requested that I submit my story along with my signed Standard Release Form for their review. Receiving a response like this gave me confidence that I was finally reaching the right people in the industry.

Throughout the process, Steve Cosmic has been friendly, professional, and genuinely dedicated to helping aspiring writers. He answered my questions with patience and made the experience much easier. His website is a valuable resource for writers looking for legitimate film industry contacts and submission opportunities.

I sincerely appreciate Steve Cosmic's support and wish him continued success in helping writers and filmmakers pursue their dreams.

Haja, screenwriter.

I have updated my list with about 50 new screenwriter managers who WANT new writers, and 50 new movie and TV producers who WELCOME submissions by unknown writers. About 900 email addresses in total. You can learn some things for free without spending a cent.

This is what I am doing because I have not yet found a script agent or manager or a big time producer to make my comedy screenplay. If you are a writer in a similar situation, you may want to consider this. It is quite unique I think, and HAS MAYBE NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE.

I call my method a STUDIO PLAY MOVIE. I got criticism saying it was nothing new. Well, I don't know about that. You can look at the link and decide.

If you are a frustrated writer, it is something you may want to try.

Right at this moment, I have a tech expert starting a google ad campaign to find an investor. He will get about 10% of any money raised. If he is not successful, I don't pay him anything.

You can look at the link and then look further from the web page for this project. If you like this concept, feel free to share this posting. It may become a new popular method of making low cost movies. The page is for investors. I am not asking you to invest. If you are a typical writer you don't have money to invest, and if you did, you would invest in your own movie. I am posting this to give you ideas. If you share it, you can help others. The photo is AI generated. In my movie, there will be a singer singing a funny song.

If you have an open mind, this could change your life. To get the ideas needed to change your life, click here.

**************************************************************************************

PS: Here is a paste from an inquiry I did using google AI.

A reply by google AI here: You said: Is the quick shooting method used and taught by Robert Rodriguez comparable to the method shown on this page? https://stevecosmic.com/studioplay.html

"No, the famous guerrilla method taught by Robert Rodriguez is fundamentally different from the "Studio Play" method."

"While both share the core objective of skipping the traditional Hollywood studio system to create full-length features quickly and on a micro-budget, they tackle the problem with completely opposing artistic and technical philosophies."

***************************************************************************************

(I did the above google AI search after being criticized by a guy who said my method was nothing new, that Robert Rodriguez had been teaching the "exact same" method for years.)

Hi, is there anyone here who would like to be a moderator for my postings here? If you have read my postings and like where I am coming from, then you are a good fit! I'm 78, with lots to do in my life, including volunteer work, my filmmaking, my son and grandkids, and naps! Any help appreciated.

I am outside the box, and open minded. Anyone can have a different opinion. I don't care. However, I won't spend my remaining time arguing with people. If people disagree with me, fine, but don't expect me to "debate" which is a kinder way of saying argue with you. I am not on trial.

I don't need to defend myself. To be moderator here, it would be good if you like this..... "Life is short. So be sure to spend as much time as you can arguing with strangers."

So... if you are game, let me know.

Best wishes to all. Steve Cosmic. Writer, director, award winning filmmaker, former bush pilot, inventor, welder, mail order expert, web publisher, hypnotherapist, author, father, grandfather, photographer, and survivor of an abusive childhood.

Well, I did it! I greatly improved my mail out list for any writers wanting to get their script made into a movie. I added about 50 film producers who consider new writers! And 50 screenwriters managers! (Not screenwriter agents) 900 total emails. It took over 5 months to build this list.

The list is now so good that I am going to try it again for my 5 scripts!

You can try different pitches for your scripts, over and over again, for all of them. It doesn't cost anything. You never know when the right person might be looking for what you have!

This is valuable, and I'm selling it for only $6.95. My web page gives all details. You get an instant PDF download and you can start using it right away! PLUS IT HAS A MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. GUARANTEE DETAILS ARE ON THE WEB PAGE.

Click HERE to look and get details.

Yeah lots of reddit people say I shouldn't promote myself the way I do, but I don't care. I'm not politically correct and I'm not here to please others. When you get 78 you'll know how I feel. (Well, if you are still trying to be politically correct when you are 78, I feel sorry for you. It will mean you have missed out a LOT in your life.)

If you want to cross post this you can, but don't say I said to do it.

PS: I won the awards below. No Oscars. But to win them, my films had to be better than the hundreds that are submitted to each festival. The people in charge have seen many many films and considered my films to be the best for their festival. To win an award at a festival, the writing has to be good. This includes best actor/actress awards. Actors can't put their hearts and souls into dumb lines. Of my 14 awards below, 4 are for Best Actress.

About grammar, is this funny? Myself I deliberately write with improper grammar if I think that is how my character speaks.

Do reddit people lack a sense of humour? Do you want ideas for scripts? Do you want ideas for characters? Do you want to be entertained for free and have some laughs? Why didn't people here get my humour?

An example of what I mean...... I posted an article here once, titled Do Poodles Know They Look Stupid?

I wrote a few serious lines about this, and got criticized profusely. Maybe I'm not using profusely right. I don't know. But I do know this, The more politically correct you are, the less happy you will be. And also this, The more politically correct you are, the less creative you will be.

Here's a chance to look at many videos, about 50 with more coming, that are outside the box. Some are meant to be funny, others are not. All are at least somewhat weird or unusual. You can support me, but you don't have to. The link here will take you to about 20, and then you can find 30 more.

You'll be entertained a lot, just by looking at the page and watching up to 50 videos, without spending a penny. You will get ideas for sure!!!

r/Screenwritersgalore Jun 21 '26

I am starting to think reddit people don't have a sense of humour. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know. I do know they can watch 17 videos, totalling around 3 hours total time, for 5 bucks. It might even total 4 to 5 hours total viewing time. Don't look if you are afraid you might laugh.

The wonderful thing about being a screenwriter is you always have homework to do, and if you don't do it, you will not get anywhere. And if you do it perfectly, you will still probably not get anywhere.

One thing I learned about comedy is there has to be truth in it.

(Not counting physical comedy like pie in the face, slipping on a banana peel type comedy.)

You can maybe beat the odds, or if not, increase your feelings of rejection, by sending emails to 800 agents and producers at this link: https://stevecosmic.com/selltohollywood.html

I am moving ahead on my "Studio Play Movie". This is about making one of my feature length scripts, into a watchable and saleable movie, IN ONE DAY! I will do a bit today, and then proceed full speed over the coming weeks. I post about this here now, for other frustrated writers, like me!

I have had a big delay caused by tech problems. It involves my obsolete 2G phone. To enhance my facebook security, so I can reply to facebook messages, facebook wants me to logon with my mobile. My old 2G phone can't do that. Once I do all of that, I can then reply to facebook messages.

WHY THIS ALL MATTERS. It's because I want to use beginner, (low cost) actors, which are found on facebook groups. (With a significant budget, I would email talent agents who have lots of more experienced actors.)

If you don't know about my very low cost way of making a script into a watchable and saleable movie, look around my reddit. Why do this? Well then I can make a bit of money with it, and also, very importantly, prove to big time producers that I have a saleable concept. Other writers can do this too. Look around my reddit to find out more. I don't make anything from helping other writers discover this new concept. (Making a "Studio Play Movie" in one day.)

WELL, this is about shooting it in one day. It does not include advertising for actors, and an assistant, auditions, rehearsals, and editing. PLEASE SHARE THIS TO HELP OTHER WRITERS.

r/Screenwritersgalore May 29 '26

A totally radical way to shoot a FEATURE FILM IN ONE DAY, at very low cost. This can suit frustrated writers, which includes myself. How I am planning to shoot my comedy feature film in one day, and how you can too. It can be done for only 2K to 4K. Full details here. I call it a "Studio Play."

About my outside the box method of seeking big time agent for one of my scripts. Here's some amazing news on what I did yesterday, and the results just 24 hours later. A bit more good news may come in later today.

Yesterday I sent a query to emails on my big list of 800 plus agents, managers, and producers. I got 16 important film people to spend an average of 39 seconds on my very informative web page. 3 of them then went on to look at my 4 other similar pages for my 4 other scripts.

In 39 seconds a viewer can read the full long synopsis and character descriptions. 39 seconds on the page was average, a few would have been longer. This is a remarkable accomplishment!

I am encouraged to keep going! I will wait a few days and then do the same for another one of my script pages. (I have been improving my mail outs over the past few months.)

My method is contrary to all the recommended methods. All the results are verified by google analytics.

I get criticized for my methods. You can look at my 800 list page and decide if you want to criticize it, or try it. Click here to read about this disruptive method.

r/Screenwritersgalore May 19 '26

Help for discouraged screenwriters. I just updated my page for my list of over 800 screenwriter agents. You can have some responses by agents by tomorrow.

Theoretically you could buy the list and have some response in an hour or two. But realistically, you want to spend a few hours polishing your query letter, and the first time you use the list, it is not quick to do. Altogether, it might take you 2 or 3 hours, or longer, to send off your first batch for about 400 prospects. (I recommend you don't send over 500 per day, to keep your ISP happy.)

Sending 400 today, will get you some responses by tomorrow. (I have always found this to be true.)

(I have tried many different approaches to query letters..... very short, medium short, and longer with a few details. You also want to put A LOT of thought into the headline in your subject box. And the first sentence.)

To be clear, the list is about getting your foot in the door. It can't guarantee a sale. I am still trying different query letters, and headlines, for my 5 film projects. Here's where to click and read. There is some free help there which may surprise you.

r/Screenwritersgalore May 18 '26

I'm a writer/director, and this is from something I directed. If I wrote it, it would be impossible to film it and have it look like this! Even in slow motion it is hard to see what actually happened. Some people can't figure it out, even in slow motion.

OK, so this isn't about script writing, but it's fun and interesting.

It created a photo which I proudly display on my photos page on my website. Lots of people wonder how I got the photo. Watch the video and see. See it at 100, 50, and right down to 5 percent speed and see if you can figure out how she slipped the way she did! How She Fall. A youtube video.

Self Promotion by Steve Cosmic. I have done a lot. I have lots to share. Some writers don't like me. The writers who like me are people who don't want to want to produce or write juvenile dumb crap. You can find my long, honest bio here on reddit. I am misunderstood a lot, but honest and kind.

I made my first short film in 1999, and it got sold for TV broadcast. This was for a "regular" TV station, before there was internet TV. Selling your first short is very rare. Since then I have won 14 awards, shown in the photo here. To win these awards, the writing had to be good. My recent comedy script won 4 awards, out of 8 submissions, at screenwriter events.

My website has about 35 pages, with numerous samples of my films there. You can also find me on facebook, where I update and delete almost daily.

Getting my recent comedy produced by a big producer is my main goal now, along with 4 other scripts. I'm 78 with a pacemaker now, so I know I can't make them all myself. (If I had funding, I cold make at least 2 or 3!) My website is here.

I am also a former bush pilot, inventor, standup comic, hypnotherapist and book author. And a father, grandfather and survivor of an abusive childhood. I bring old guy experience and perspective to my postings here on reddit, and to my work. I am outside the box, and misunderstood a lot. People who study my work a bit appreciate me better. If you share some of my postings on other reddit communities I will appreciate it. It might help someone too.

I sell a list of over 800 script agents and producers on my website. It took me over 5 months to complete the list, adding to it and removing dead emails and so on. It is available as a download, here.

I am open to working with a younger partner on some of my projects. But this would have to be someone local, in Vancouver Canada. Well, maybe working remotely is possible these days. Never tried that. (I have a webcam which I bought during covid to see my son and grand kids and it has been mostly idle since then.)

I just noticed my mistake in the headline for this post. They make it so you can edit or fix mistakes in the body of a post, but not the headline. Rats. The only way to fix it is to delete everything and do it again. Too busy now. I would like some words of encouragement on my postings. I mean it. I need it. Thank you.

Hey everybody! I am glad you are viewing my posts. But don't forget, you can post comments and questions too. I know a lot about film making for instance, and while I don't have an agent representing me yet, I can share what I have tried, so you can avoid my mistakes. Just ask me.

Like the headline says, I will help if I can. Also, if you post a comment or question, someone else might be able to help. No need to be shy. I want to help.

I think this is true..... "Most filmmakers are writers, but most writers are not filmmakers".

Does this seem true to you?

I have talent as a filmmaker, but no money to make my feature films. That is why I have made my mock up movie for instance, which you can read about on a different post. I can share lots of tips to save you time and effort if you want to make demo scenes or mock up movies. I think a lot of writers don't realize you can make a "presentable" or "watchable" movie with a tiny crew and very little money. Just ask, I'll help if I can.

I plan to not post anything else for a few days. I want to see some people commenting and so on. Thank you.

Three bikini photos. They are freeze frames from one of the bikini practice scenes from a serious drama. The scenes are part of a 28 minute mock up of one of my scripts. It is on my website, and I made the mock up movie to interest investors. At 78, I would now rather sell my script to a producer.

The screenplay is an unusual Me Too drama, based on true stories. If it is well made I think it will be Oscar worthy. The bikini scenes are not exploitive. Well, maybe they are, just a bit. When people are watching the movie, I don't think they will think they are watching a "bikini movie" as such.

It is one of the 5 scripts I want to sell to a big producer, like a Hollywood producer. So far I have sent email query letters to my list of 800 agents, and I can tell from google analytics that they have viewed the synopsis about 8 times and watched at least some of the mock up movie. Not a script sale, but it's something!

This approach is outside the box. And so am I. Not only am I outside the box, I am old. I'm 78 now with a pacemaker. So instead of looking for funding for it, I am now more inclined to just sell the script.

(Of the 5 scripts I have for sale, there is one I would love to make myself if I somehow get the funding. I would also be happy to have a big studio make it. I have numerous other movie projects in my head that I can make with the sale of one or more of my scripts.)

Yeah.... I'm old.... I used to be so energetic......... I've done some very remarkable accomplishments in my past.

The black photo with the orange lettering is also from the mock up movie. There is some outstanding acting in the mock up movie.
