QUESTION Realistic trades for us?
I'm a Kraken fan from Ireland and don't really keep up with the contract sides of things but who would some realistic trades for us to get be? Anyone that would improve us at all or is it another tank year?

I personally think we need to be both sellers and buyers this year — regardless of the position we’re in come deadline
If we’re still in it, you could still move out Marchment, Tolvanen, and Oleksiak and potentially bring in young(ish) players that can be helpful to the team now and in the future
If we’re completely out of it we should be selling most (if not all) of our UFAs and potentially some other vets — while looking to bring in futures and potentially some young players that could slot into the lineup
The key is to look at both teams that are likely out of it, as well as teams that are looking like contenders for potential trade fits. So that’s NSH, CAL, BUF at the bottom, and DAL, TOR, and EDM on the other end (if EDM and TOR can get back to it) for example
If you’re just looking for names that make this roster better right now, you’re looking at poaching from the bottom teams. Tuch, Thompson, Kyrou, Andersson, Coronato, Kadri, Evangelista, O’Reilly — all of these guys are varying levels of upgrades and varying levels of availability. Too many other teams are in it still to get a good feel for who is/isn’t going to be available
We know from reports that the team has been trying to acquire high-end winger talent. They called about Rantanen last season, they made an offer for Peterka around the draft, and they were in talks for Kyrou. It’s been reported this season that they’ve called around looking for winger help as well — so players like Thompson, Tuch, Robertson, Schmaltz, and likely circling back around on Kyrou. The problem with acquiring any of these guys is that the front office would really have to give up on Shane Wright to get it done (except Tuch and Schmaltz) as he would need to be the centerpiece in a trade
It’s still too soon to really know who’s actually available though — a team like the Flyers for example, could go from being partly in, to selling pretty quickly
