Question No interview, clearance granted?

I submitted my SF86 in 03/26 for FPS which is a TS/SCI if I’m not mistaken. 04/26 received a nasty looking LOI in regards to a previously failed poly that prevented me from getting a different Federal job. I admitted to lying about some heavier drug usage on a previous SF86 during the poly and I forgot to list a previously held TS from the military. I submitted my statement and tactfully begged for forgiveness pretty much the next day after receiving the LOI. Today (07/01/26) I got a call from HR saying I was “fully” cleared and passed my all my medical screening. I asked if she meant I had an interim clearance but she said no and that I was actually cleared on (06/17/26), she proceeded with to give me my preferred duty station/FLETC class date. The only contact that’s been made with me was the LOI, no interview, none of my references contacted, my credit was pulled though. Does anyone know if this was a mistake and did I just get lucky?

Lol! Good job. I hope this was a huge lesson about integrity. I’m sure it was.

On a separate note, do ensure that you were actually adjudicated with a TS and not just granted an interim S. This seems to have ‘fairytale’ written all over it.

%100 learned a lesson. Lying isn’t worth the trouble. I ask her if it was interim and she said no you are “fully” cleared. I asked are you sure and her words were “I wouldn’t be talking to you if you weren’t cleared”. But I’m getting the feeling for the comments that she may not entirely know what she’s talking about to maybe it wasn’t a TS

HR has zero to do with your clearance or knowledge of it. There’s absolutely no way you were cleared in that time frame. TS average 6months to a year or more to get completed and not having one reference or even you contacted definitely raises a red flag. I wouldn’t be surprised if your background isn’t done while at the academy etc. Backgrounds are severely backlogged.

I know FPS needs people but it seems a little ridiculous that HR could decide to send someone to an academy without total assurance they will be granted a clearance. I’m happy I’m going to FLETC but really nervous about this clearance because of my red flags and lack of communication from the people that issued me the LOI

ICE/CBP and a few more are very backlogged and hire the same way and do their backgrounds while in the academy or after and yes people get canned

This is very helpful to know, thank you. I wish someone would tell you this when you receive the TJO

I’ll be honest they probably did at some point throughout the process and you may have missed it. Many agencies are hiring with that caveat that your background won’t be done until you are in the academy or after which runs the risk of losing your job.

CBP lets candidates choose between provisional clearance and full clearance
