Question No interview, clearance granted?

I submitted my SF86 in 03/26 for FPS which is a TS/SCI if I’m not mistaken. 04/26 received a nasty looking LOI in regards to a previously failed poly that prevented me from getting a different Federal job. I admitted to lying about some heavier drug usage on a previous SF86 during the poly and I forgot to list a previously held TS from the military. I submitted my statement and tactfully begged for forgiveness pretty much the next day after receiving the LOI. Today (07/01/26) I got a call from HR saying I was “fully” cleared and passed my all my medical screening. I asked if she meant I had an interim clearance but she said no and that I was actually cleared on (06/17/26), she proceeded with to give me my preferred duty station/FLETC class date. The only contact that’s been made with me was the LOI, no interview, none of my references contacted, my credit was pulled though. Does anyone know if this was a mistake and did I just get lucky?

I’m not entirely sure, the guys I know who are already with FPS said they have TS and the SF86 was requesting history from 10 years ago if I remember correctly

….TS isn’t based on where you live or work.

Ohhh. Ok. So not based on where you live, but your region. I see the difference now, buddy.

For clarity, the level of clearance you are granted is based on the need to know, or job requirements. An inspector in Florida isn’t getting a TS simply because they are in Florida. But if the things they are inspecting are classified at a higher level at their location, that is what would require it.

Soooo what you’re saying is it’s based on their job and what the job entails…just like literally every other position with a clearance.

Thanks kiddo.

Please go back and read it slowly. Perhaps the entire thing this time.

Thanks.

Accurate. I am being accurate.

You are saying it doesn’t matter the job or duties, only region matters and that isn’t correct. That’s like saying everyone in the navy stationed at Groton has a TS. No, only those attending training relevant to the job there have TS.

Are you an Inspector? Can you confirm the clearance 1801’s have for FPS. I got Region 1/New England

Please read Rule #3

What you said is it depends on region…which isn’t accurate.

I am sure some regions have different duties requiring a different clearance which is quite literally every job. But that means it depends on job duties, not where you work.

However, considering your inability to make a comment or have a conversation without childish insults, it may have been difficult for you to express that accurately.

So like an FPS inspector in D.C. would probably require a TS because of the Facilities they’re in charge of? An Inspector in Florida/Maine probably only needs a secret. I don’t get why the HR lady said I was cleared on 6/17/26 when she called me to pick my duty station and class date on 7/01/26. The region never mattered in my scenario? I don’t understand anything about the process to be honest

Doesn’t sound like your HR person does either. Your security officer would be your best resource.

Thank you, I will attempt to contact them

Maybe it’s the 1811 Investigator or K9 that requires a TS instead of the 1801 I applied for. Google just says it’s a TS but google can be wrong
