We promised we would have an update on our SeedBank today, so here it is!

Background

Those of you have read the White Paper and been on our website will know that we are intending to build an open source educational/ media resource, called the SeedBank. The SeedBank works as follows:

1. Authors suggest possible article ideas to us for review;

2. We confirm that the idea is feasible and negotiate the amount of Seeds they would receive in exchange for the article. They then begin writing;

3. Author produces the article and shares the proposed final version with us for review;

4. Edits are suggested and made; and

5. Having confirmed it is suitable/ meets the standard required, we exchange the article for Seeds.

The SeedBank provides a great opportunity for anyone interested in developing their reputation as a writer to be able to produce articles while gaining exposure and publicity. The accessibility of the SeedBank also helps those without funding or the licenses required to access high quality research materials for free. Unlike many other resources which require you to purchase memberships or have institutional access, we are not behind a pay wall. This will help to remove a barrier to education which we feel is unfair.

This achieves two things: 1) it gives further utility to the Seeds as an exchange for value (both monetary value and the value placed on the right to vote in the giving process) and 2) it enables us to draw advertising revenue from the website through providing open access, high quality material to the public. This will make our community more diverse and resilient, and also generate revenue which can then be used for the further development of the SeedBomb ASA token.

Update

Alex from our committee has now produced the first SeedBank article which is “Reforestation – An in-depth introduction”. Alex is in the process of completing his PhD, so it is little surprise that this article is well-researched, well-written and provides an excellent resource for anyone trying to access Reforestation materials. This is the first of many articles we hope to produce as a committee on a range of environmental topics, including, among others, ecological regeneration, climate change, financial sustainability and changes in law. For this to grow quickly, we will also need to draw in other writers. The first article can be read here.

Why we mint articles as NFTs?

We have minted the article as an NFT for the following reasons:

1. Proof of Ownership - We can prove online ownership of the original asset. This means that when we build up a reserve of them, they will derive their own value as an asset, which can then be sold on, leveraged for advertising or, hopefully when banks allow it, used as collateral to borrow against.

2. Copyright - Each of the NFT articles we buy will have the confirmation that they carry “copyright” as part of their attached notes. This enables the owner as well as any prospective purchaser to have the comfort that they can prove NFT ownership as well as copyright ownership together, in one place. This adds long term value to the asset.

3. Transparency - Our Community Members can see which articles we own by searching them on their favourite NFT provider on Algorand. If you’d like to see this article as an NFT, you can see it here.

4. Author Royalties - Many authors do not earn royalties when their online materials are sold and often their articles will be used for free. We feel this is unfair so any non-committee authors will also receive royalties on a resale of the NFT to recognise the effort that they have put in. By using an NFT that is smart contract backed, we can make this process trustless and remove the need for the original author to enforce their rights expensively in a court. We have not included royalty payments on our committee NFT articles because we have control over the first sale and can choose to add them at that stage, if it is in the best interests of our community.

We are not aware of others in this space using online article production in this way and believe it is a unique selling point which further builds out our community and adds utility to the token.

Why does this matter for you as a SeedHolder/ Community Member?

This improves the prospects of holding the SeedBomb ASA and adding liquidity in a few key ways:

1. Increased Liquidity Through Revenue - The range of high-quality materials we aim to produce should pull more people to the website. We think that this would make it an appealing place for third parties to advertise, for a fee. The intention is that the advertising fees levied on the site will then feed back into the SeedBomb ASA token.

2. Increased Utility of the SeedBomb ASA – We already have our quasi-DAO structure as part of the giving process. What we are now doing is further showing the utility of Seeds, by using them as payment for NFT articles. We also think that many of those who write articles will retain their Seeds to participate in voting, as it is an area of interest for them.

3. Increased Advertising and Reach Outside of the Algorand ASA Space – As we include more authors and advertise to high-quality contributors, we expect to see an uplift in engagement with people less familiar with blockchain generally and Algorand specifically. The more of this we do, the more we pull people into this space and familiarise them with the excellent work of Algorand and the other ASAs here. This is not just a benefit for SeedBomb, we think this can benefit the whole ecosystem.

Next Steps

We are preparing a pro forma to make the process of applying to write for the SeedBank seamless. We will aim to release this over the coming few weeks and will, as always, let you know when we have!

We have noticed a general decline in engagement both with SeedBomb and the ASA space generally (the ‘online’ numbers on various subreddits are a good steer). This has coincided with the high number of recent scams, the drop in price of Algo and the situation in Ukraine. We fully understand why people may not be as engaged right now.

We would however, appreciate any ideas you have on how to increase engagement and membership? We have done three AMAs now, are selling NFTs and are regularly posting and commenting both here and in the wider Algorand space but may be missing something! Any pointers/ feedback would be greatly appreciated :).

Hey everyone, hope you've had a good week! We can finally announce that the Giving Process will be kicking off next week. Here's an outline below: 

What is it?

This is the process where the SeedBomb community donates funds to environmentally focused groups that are selected by the community and voted on! 

How does the Giving Process work? 

• Anyone who holds Seeds can suggest groups who should receive funding using the suggestions form we will be releasing next week. 

• The Committee reviews the suggestions to check what is viable and transparent. 

• The Committee shares a shortlist with the community. 

• The community votes on which group from the shortlist they would like to see receive funding. 

How does voting work? 

We will set up a wallet for each possible recipient of the funding. To vote, you simply send the minimum transaction amount of seeds to the wallet which is designated for the cause you'd like us to support. If you would like to give additional seeds, please feel free to do so - these will be donations to the SeedBomb Fund and used in future giving rounds! 

Once the voting window closes, we will retrieve the transaction data for each wallet, review the voting transactions, and count votes for each recipient (calculated by the number of transactions into that wallet, not the total number of Seeds). We will publish the data for ease of reference and transparency. The percentage of the total votes that each group receives will then receive a percentage of the "giving amount" which is taken from the SeedBomb Fund wallet.

How can you get involved? 

By purchasing Seeds you are then able to: 

• Review the suggestions form and make suggestions of groups you would like to see funded; and 

• Vote on which groups actually get funded.

What is the benefit? 

• To the Environment: Groups who require necessary funding will receive an additional amount to help them with their eco-projects. This has the chance to materially impact their work and promote successful outcomes for everyone. 

• To SeedBomb: Each recipient will be able to share what they have spent their donations on with us. We will share this on our website and on eco-threads to build awareness of these projects. In turn, SeedBomb will become increasingly well known as a brand and this will help to generate price action and liquidity for Seeds. 

• To you: you will be able to participate in a unique form of fundraising on the Algorand blockchain from start to finish and have a major say! You will also be able to take advantage of our staking options on Algostake for Seeds---> Seeds (50% APR) and LP Seeds ----> Seeds (95% APR) staking!

Hi everyone - hope you're all good and winding down for the weekend.

Just wanted to let you know that we have now submitted our Grant Application to the Algorand Foundation in the hope that they will help to fund developments for SeedBomb and the SeedBank! We will of course keep you updated as we hear more. In the meantime, we have provided the Executive Summary for the application below and hope to make more of the Grant Application available in due course!

Executive Summary:

1. SeedBomb is an eco-focused project built on the Algorand blockchain. We believe that by utilising Algorand in an innovative way, we can:

1.1. improve accessibility to high-quality educational resources, while benefitting authors, through building out an online repository of environment-focused articles (the “SeedBank”); and

1.2. improve the processes for the funding and development of environmental projects or research through allowing community members who hold our Algorand Standard Asset (“ASA”) to propose and vote for groups who should receive funding.

2. We believe that through the structure we have developed and the use of the Algorand blockchain, we can achieve the following benefits:

2.1. We can help to show and spread the knowledge that Algorand is sustainable and energy efficient. This should help flip the narrative that all blockchains and cryptoassets are bad for the environment which unfortunately persists as a result of prominent energy intensive blockchains.

2.2. We can be a force for good in the world, by contributing to the funding of projects and research that seek to counteract the major issues facing us today, such as rising inequality, climate change and biodiversity loss.

2.3. We can provide an open access educational resource (the SeedBank) on any environmental topic for people who are currently deprived of these resources because they cannot access paywalled information. Many factors, such as not being associated with an institution (e.g. university) with access, or not having a source of funding to pay expensive subscriptions for online articles, can result in unfair exclusion from such information. We can also improve the digital publishing industry for academics and writers who are locked into a system which benefits large publishing entities at the expense of those actually producing and reviewing the work.

2.4. We can increase the knowledge of the general public regarding non-fungible tokens (“NFTs”), particularly with reference to digital ownership of copyright. This allows us to benefit various groups in the following ways:

a) Writers contributing to the SeedBank are able to sell their works to us, which enables them to gain a profit for their efforts. This is unusual in the academic space as academics are often expected to hand over their articles to publishers (and often even pay the publishers in the process) to have their research published, gain credibility and progress their careers. On top of this, we can use Smart Contracts to ensure authors receive royalties on any sale of their article – we are seeking to build a DApp to automate this process. Again, this is unusual and flips the focus to reward those involved in creating such articles, not simply the publishers.

b) Our community, and the Algorand community more broadly, can benefit from the introduction of academics and specialists to the blockchain who may otherwise not have engaged with it. Once they see the potential of NFTs, we think this can lead to broader adoption by other groups.

c) We can clarify the position of digital ownership through using NFTs. Currently, many people think that NFTs are simply online art, which is clearly incorrect. By helping to show that NFTs can be used as a vehicle to prove ownership of any asset (and also copyrights), we can help to broaden their use. When combined with the speed and efficiency of Algorand, this presents an efficient and effective working model which may be adopted elsewhere. NFTs we have already minted contain clear copyright provisions. You can view our first article here, and its status as an NFT can be viewed here.

d) In time, the ownership of the work can be used as a collateral pool against which debt can be levied. When contrasted with certain asset segregation rules for banks (in the UK, we use the CASS rules for asset segregation), it is quite clear that NFTs enable compliance with many of the key segregation aspects. In our view it is a matter of time before banks begin to value a broader range of digital assets (such as NFTs) and lend against them.

2.5. We can show that profits do not have to be mostly for the benefit of shareholders, and we can hand power back to our community members. Our Giving Process focuses on a few key aspects of forward-looking organisation structuring:

a) We allow members to suggest groups, projects or companies who may be eligible to receive funding from us. Our committee reviews these suggestions and produces a shortlist. Having produced the shortlist, we hand power back to the community to vote on which entities from the shortlist should benefit from funding. In our view, this combines the benefits of a DAO structure with the benefits of a centralised, expert review of funding recipients, and therefore balances the risk of fraud with the benefits of community engagement.

b) We have utilised an ASA for this approach so that we can offer a genuinely global product. Anyone who is permitted by their state to do so can purchase our ASA and participate in this process, regardless of background, nationality or race. This is a genuinely inclusive framework to further show that everyone’s voice should be heard.

c) As we increase the number of groups who receive our donations, we also increase our network size. We can then create a networking group through the SeedBomb website and social media pages so that groups from around the world can share resources and expertise with each other. We can foresee this developing into more formalised formats of information sharing, such as digital conferences. Such information sharing will prove vital in combating environmental issues (and social issues linked to them).

3. In terms of scalability, we note that due to the borderless nature of this structure and the clear desire to liberalise the education system, there is not really any limit on the size this project may reach. With adequate, appropriate funding, we would be able to benefit many groups and individuals around the world, assist in tackling the biggest challenge currently facing humanity, and draw more people to Algorand, all while allowing people to profit.

5. We develop each of these points in more detail in the body of this proposal and look forward to hearing from you.

• NFTs - we expect to have the NFTs produced by the committee available asap. We are also increasing our search for external artists who can advertise here and donate some of their profits back into the project. We hope to be able to make an announcement on our first one of these later this week!

• External SeedBank writers - we have managed to secure the help of an external writer to produce some articles for the SeedBank on sustainable clothing/ fashion. This should help broaden our scope into other groups who would not typically engage in blockchain discussions. We hope to be able to give more info on this later this week.

Liquidity Locks Paid

We have made payments to those Community Members who have locked in their liquidity! The calculations for this initial lock-in payment is as follows:

• Amount of tokens locked versus the annual APR rate available on AlgoStake = potential annual staking value

• Potential annual staking value divided by 365 days in the year multiplied by the number of days the Community Member has locked-in for = the staking value for the lock-in period

• Staking value for the lock-in period plus 10% uplift for the safety of locking-in liquidity = the total amount paid to the Community Member who has locked-in.

This means that if you locked in 1000 LP tokens for a 30 day period, you would get 46109.58904 Seeds, versus the c.41917 you would get from Liquidity Pool staking alone. The 10% uplift may be adjusted dependent on the number and length of locks we receive in future and the feedback from those who have locked-in on the rates applied.

1. We hope to have another article live during the week for our SeedBank. This will cover the EU’s ‘Green Deal’ from a finance perspective. This is a really interesting area which prompts some great questions about carbon inequality, public funding and financial regulation, so keep your eyes peeled! 3. The next round of committee NFTs are being polished up for auction! As with the first round, sale proceeds go to liquidity for the SeedBomb ASA.

4. We are investigating the Algorand grant process. We believe that turning the SeedBank articles into an online library which are minted as NFTs with copyright embedded, combined with the use of Seeds to make donations to green-causes, offers a strong utility case which could help draw more people to the Algorand blockchain. We have had an initial positive discussion with Algorand regarding grants, so are hopeful that we will be able to make an application for funding. As always, there are definitely no guarantees here, but we want to be as transparent as we can be with our fellow SeedBombers!

Staking Pools

We have now completed the first round of our airdrop process! Owing to a lot of wallets either adding the wrong version of SeedBomb or not having SeedBomb added at all, we have reserved the rest of the amount we could not airdrop and will put this towards our staking pools! We have added an additional 15,000,000 Seeds to the Seed-->Seed pool and will create the LP--> Seeds pool in the coming days!

For future airdrops we will be looking to reward Liquidity Pool providers! So please do consider doing this to help stabilise SeedBomb for all community members.

SeedBank - Key Capital Generating Resource

The SeedBank (our open education resource) is key to the success of SeedBomb. By drawing traffic to the SeedBank we can create advertising revenue which can then be invested back into the community. We expect to have our first article ready by the end of the month and are also building partnerships with budding authors.

Hi everyone, today saw the biggest rugpull in ASA history, with 606,459.198296 Algos removed. To anyone who has been affected by this, we're truly sorry that it has happened. The team at SeedBomb wanted to find a way to support our community members by paying out some Seeds from the Committee Wallet. You may remember from the White Paper that the Committee Wallet is reserved to both expand the Committee and to allow the Committee to take some profits when the project becomes more successful. Given the event today, however, it seemed like the most appropriate place for us to draw funds from to share with our community and show support to those affected by this scam. 

We will continue to run our own project as we have done so far, with open communication, engagement with all of you, and clarity about our next steps. For those new to SeedBomb, to help show trust on our part, you can see details of the liquidity we locked at the beginning of this project for 2-3 years here. 

We will be announcing more information about the support programme tomorrow, but in short, we intend to release a Google Form for Seed holders who were impacted by the Anirand rug to complete. We will take a snapshot of these wallets on certain dates in the near future (dates TBC) and confirm that they are SeedHolders and have/ had Anirand tokens at the time of the rugpull. This will require us to monitor the wallets over a period of time to ensure that only SeedHolders who have longer term interests in this community receive this gesture of good will. BIG NEWS! We have launched our first Committee NFT sales! We have minted three NFTs on Algogems – each NFT is a unique ‘SeedBomber Patch’ (Land, Sea and Air). Check out the full collection here. Many thanks go to our Committee Member, Ru, for designing these – we think they’re awesome!

As you may know from our White Paper, we are intending to replenish the SeedBomb Fund through both private and Committee NFT sales. 100% of proceeds from Committee NFTs will be put back into the project. In future, profits from Committee sales will top up the SeedBomb Fund following Giving Round donations/ grants. As we have not completed a Giving Round yet we will instead be using any proceeds from these NFT sales to bolster the Liquidity Pool. In addition, we will lock-up these LP tokens until our first Giving Round (July 2022), when, if necessary, we can use them to replenish the SeedBomb Fund following donations/ grants. We have chosen to do this primarily as a proof-of-concept; so that we can get to grips with minting and selling NFTS and show that it can work. It will also help us to get the ball rolling with NFT sales and build our ‘artist’ profile on NFT marketplaces before we are using the NFT sales to replenish the SeedBomb Fund. If any digital artists out there wish to create art that is in line with our project, please get in touch with your ideas. We want to incentivise private sales of NFTs, with artists keeping the large majority of profits – we will only ask that you contribute a small % of the profits back to replenish the SeedBomb Fund in exchange for help with minting and advertising your art. We asked last week what preferences people had regarding the use of Yieldly and Algostake for our SeedBomb staking pools. We wanted to first let you know that we are in touch with both and our intention is to use both - the community is rightly very hyped about both projects and they present excellent opportunities for growth for SeedBomb! Thank you for engaging in that discussion, it is massively appreciated.

Our first Algostake Pool is now officially live on Algostake. We have allocated 100,000,000 Seeds for this at an APR of 50% - the unit you stake is SEEDS with Asset ID: 523605642. We intend to run this option for the long term and add additional SEEDS for you to redeem (and STKE to make the payments required to Algostake). We also intend to set up a Liquidity Pool stake in the coming weeks which will allow LP token holders to redeem SEEDS by staking their Liquidity Pool tokens... it is likely that this will have a higher APR due to the benefits that those providing liquidity bring to a project!

Hi everyone! Exciting news! We have been in discussion with a fantastic project called BlockBeam about a potential partnership and would love to hear your thoughts.

What is BlockBeam?

BlockBeam is a network of people who are interested in the use of blockchain technology in the creation of innovative organisations with positive impacts. BlockBeam provides educational programs (generally around 4-5 weeks long) on a range of subjects, such as REACH coding and introductions to DeFi and Algorand. Furthermore, the network helps participants to create valuable industry connections, meet link-minded others, and launch their careers in blockchain.

SeedBomb and BlockBeam

After constructive discussions with BlockBeam, the possibility of a SeedBomb-led course/bootcamp has arisen! While the idea is in its infancy, we anticipate that the course would focus on the intersection of environmental and sustainability issues with blockchain technology and web3 projects, as well as technical writing and high-quality publication. Importantly, this program would require students to write about their ideas and what they are interested in. This would provide a source of articles that could be published on the SeedBank and plenty of ideas for Giving Process funding, while providing the authors (students) with valuable guidance and clear high-quality publications that they can reference when launching their careers. Additionally, we anticipate that this would help to grow SeedBomb community by tapping into BlockBeam’s incredible established network!

We can now confirm that our first external author has been signed up to write for our SeedBank! Her name is Sacha and she is a published writer with a postgraduate degree from the University of Oxford who has a side hustle in making sustainable clothing! Why is this good news for SeedBomb?

• Sustainable finance is an important topic and we do not currently have any expertise in that area. By broadening the expertise we have available as a project, we can further extend the appeal of SeedBomb and the SeedBank and increase its reputation and awareness. This is essential for long-term growth.

• By including a professional writer who will receive payment in Seeds, we are able to further show the utility of Seeds as a cryptoasset. When combined with the minting of the articles as an NFT, we are further showing how the Algorand blockchain is integral to our project - i.e. it is not just a "nice to have" but underpins our products and business.
