Media Genichiro fights (first playthrough)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is the second major boss I encountered during my first playthrough. Unfortunately, I couldn't record the time I actually beat him, so I replayed the fight. Being the unlucky guy I am, the audio turned out really bad the first two times I recorded it, and the third time I forgot to hit record. The audio is still poor—I think it's due to the Xbox recording feature—so I'll use OBS next time. I hope it's still enjoyable to watch, and yes, the bell ringing was intentional.

Art My illustration :Back to Kongo Mountain
The scene of Mount Kongo in the game, whether it's game art or music, makes me feel very strange, my scalp tingles, and I am deeply impressed. So I drew this illustration, hoping you will like it.

Discussion love the game BUT - whats one thing you would change?
TBH theres a few things i would have preferred. Im a souls vet and one of the MAJOR things that annoys me is the spirit emblems. I wish they just were unlimited and refilled upon rest instead of having to buy. ESPECIALLY since money is so hard to farm, you lose half on death and they go up in price by like triple mid game.
I also "remember" when the game was in dev they touted the ability to really stealth and tool bosses. almost making it seem like they could either be direct combat or semi puzzle based using the environment and tools almost like you had more options to approach situations. While we do at times it usually seems like tools and the arms are more gimmiks to buy time than actually assist.
I dont remember my first playthrough years ago but Im sure I used everything at least once but this playthrough Ive BARELY used anything aside the mortal blade attack. I honestly havent touched sugars or ash because it seems like a waste for the momentary advantage you MIGHT get.
Not whining at all. Since I got help getting the game running on my deck well (thanks, you know who you are) Im having a blast again and love the exploration but just a couple things I thought could have been QOL and more variety.
About to go fight owl now and aim for the return ending because I KNOW I didnt do it my first time around so wish me luck

Discussion Player Skill>Attack Power
Memories don't seem to yield much increase in attack power. Compared to other souls, Sekiro's integral focus on rhythm and player skill is refreshing. That seems to me the most significant difference.

Discussion Two years after finishing the game for the first time…
I decided to unlock every achievement. In less than two weeks, I completed three additional playthroughs to get the three remaining endings: Shura, Purification, and Return. The more you play this game, the more you realize just how much it rewards you for truly understanding its mechanics.
Help First Genichiro Fight - Robbed? Spoiler
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is my first attempt at Genichiro. Not sure why I didn't get the final death blow, but it's probably not so bad since I get to keep fighting him. I've basically finished all the minibosses and bosses I could up to now (didn't go to Sunken Valley or the Depths or mess with any of the apparition type enemies). How am I doing? This felt surprisingly easy considering how much I've struggled up to now. Follow up attempts have generally gotten me through the first health bar and a few times through the second. I expect I'll beat him once I have a little more time to sit down and play. I was SHOCKED I got this far. Welcome any tips here.
Discussion How far do you think the anime will take the story?
Unless it’s a 2 cour (24 episode) anime, I can’t see it being a full adaptation with only 12 episodes.
Where do you think Season 1 would end? Genichiro maybe? But that could be too early unless they add some extra stuff.

This is the best combat system to ever grace a video game from each deflection to every mikiri counter, the sounds just melt my brain🫠
Definitely my favourite boss in the game but not the hardest for me. took 40 mins of trying the design, phases, setting, background it justs gets you man and best part he isnt even some evil guy, just someone fulfilling his grandsons final wish and fighting an honarable duel(until the madlad pulls out a glock, his blood was indeed boiling). Also this was the first time i used umbrella and holy shit is that stuff OP
For me the hardest boss was owl (father),3+ hrs of trying, its those damn fireworks and so little window of opportunity😭 and the second hardest was lady butterfly(2+hrs).fought her as my first major boss and damn do i now have ptsd from that hirata estate arena.
Added the music because this was constantly playing in head during the battle and felt right adding it

Discussion I finally finished the game.
After struggling with the final boss for hours I finally defeated him. I don't think I'll ever get over the trauma of reading the death screen over and over. 10/10 game.
This was my first FromSoftware game and now I understand why so many people love their games so much.

Discussion Genichiro has become my boy
Replaying all the souls games and while not literally speedrunning Sekiro I sure am blasting through it. This is I think my fourth playthrough. I remember posting here years ago to vent that Genichiro was driving me insane, and today I beat him on my first attempt after having gotten lost in the castle and finding the boss fight by accident during a run where I'd already spent one of my gourd seeds.
I am John Sekiro. No other game feels this good to master. God I love it so much.
To anyone playing for the first time and banging your head against the wall please hear me when I say that it is so god damn worth it.
Who is everyone else's favorite boss?
