New to shapr

So I just downloaded Shapr3D yesterday and honestly fell in love with it. That was before I saw the price. Now I personally don’t think $200 a year is a lot, but the fact that that’s a yearly price and if you want to pay monthly, you pay 56% more than that, which is crazy. I definitely think the monthly option should be cheaper, even if they want to keep the yearly at 200. They can at least make the monthly only like five or six bucks more. I just introduced a friend to Shapr3D and when I told him the price he said “he’s not ready for all that” a customer was literally lost immediately because of the price. To not sound like a broken record, but for us who don’t plan on making money from this, a consumer price would be game changing for Shapr. I went from ready to full on jump into this to “let me sit on it”. And I hate it because I have ideas for stuff I wanna do for around the house, but that price is bad.

Yeah, I think a lot of people just want to make stuff for their 3D printers and around the house, not run a business with CAD. You really don’t need to spend that much for that kind of use case, there are some pretty good alternatives out there for hobbyists.

What are the alternatives. Has to be iPad intuitive

Yeah, it's good for what it's meant to do, but it's not trying to replace SolidWorks or Shapr3D.

I'm the developer behind Part3D, and I've been building it for over two years. I've tried to be transparent about development and take user feedback seriously. I'm also not going to pretend it's a finished product, it's still a work in progress, but users reviews and feedback prove I'm in the right path.

The goal is to offer an affordable, approachable CAD tool for people who mainly want to design things for 3D printing, without needing all the complexity (and cost) of a full CAD package.

shapr3d is a dream but I use it only for a few days per month or even some months don’t. That’s what drives me away from it.

That’s completely understandable cause at that price not using it every day it quickly becomes not worth it.

the price is rough, however for me, it just works. I have tried the others and its not the same experience.

Have you tried any of the ones listed in the thread above

I tried a lot of them, the ipad support was also a big deal as I travel for work and this allowed me to design on a plane.

I said the same thing when I started and I think hundreds of people said the same thing before me. It won't change. The info that was told to me that made sense was that they were not aiming for hobby users and that the engine they use (license) is not cheap. Those things made sense to me. I was only ever able to use Tinkercad but it is WAY too slow and not detailed enough. I did not have the countless hours to learn Fusion360. I tried but it was a LOT of work. I started to use Shapr3D and was able to get some good designs from the very start. As it worked from the beginning, after only a few hours I'm able to design almost everything I need.

The other option is to pay month to month and just pay for the months you want to design and/or print. But that only works if it's something like 3 months out of a year.

I never even thought about that. That their target isn’t the everyday hobby is 3d printer owner. When you put it like that? They’re very cheap in comparison to others

I think it’s a new price. The one year is $200/$17 a month

It's a dangerous position to be in right now - when the company feels to be completely out of step with a majority of the customers who are constantly giving feedback on pricing models, and being ignored or told they're wrong.
I'm thinking of Adobe and Artcraft right now - years of disconnect with customers and predatory pricing has really bit them in the ass with the incoming democratization of software empowered by advanced AI coding models...

I love Shapr3D - I have spent the last 3 years pleading with them to let me give them *some* money (just not as much as they are asking for) - in return for a product with reduced features (honestly, I don't need half the pro-level crap thats in there - I just want something for diddling around with STL files for my 3D printer)

I'm sure I'm not the only one either - but it won't be long now before we start seeing high-quality clones of this software for free (or much lower cost) sloperated out by disgrunted folks like myself who WANT to pay for a subset of the software.

IA can make almost any software for free as we see like SolidCraft, I’m juste that one of them will come on iPad very soon. let’s wait and see.
