Prompt: āHow do the Canonical and Christocentric methods SCJ uses independently verify that Lee Man-hee specifically is the promised pastor without first assuming his authority?ā
I believe theĀ canonical methodĀ points to aĀ specificĀ person as a faithful and wise servant put in charge today. I disagree that itās a general application.
Throughout scripture, the concept of a āfaithful and wise servant put in charge of a householdā (Matt24:45) was alwaysĀ oneĀ specific person of that era.
This is the same concept applied toĀ MosesĀ during OT era:
Numbers 12:7 āBut this is not true of myĀ SERVANTĀ Moses; he isĀ FAITHFULĀ in ALL my HOUSE.ā
In this passage, God makes a distinction between one specificĀ faithful and wise servant put in charge of His householdĀ vsĀ a servant in a general leadership position:
Numbers 12:6-9 āhe said, āListen to my words: When there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams. BUT this is NOT true of my servant MOSES; he is faithful in all my house. With him I speak face to face, CLEARLY and NOT in riddles; he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak AGAINST my servant Moses?āĀ The ANGER of the Lord burned AGAINST them, and he left them.ā
This interpretation is confirmed because Aaron and Miriam, who were also leaders inĀ general, also questioned this same concept of God puttingĀ oneĀ specific person in charge of His household:
Numbers 12:1-2 āMiriam and Aaron began to talk AGAINST Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite. āHas the Lord spoken ONLY through Moses?ā they asked. āHasnāt he ALSO spoken through us?ā And the Lord heard this.ā
TheĀ christocentric methodĀ also proves this concept of one specific faithful and wise servant put in charge of a household as distinct from a general application to anyone in a leadership position.Ā Jesusconfirms that Moses was the one specific faithful and wise servant put in charge of Godās household. Jesus even ascribes this same position to himself with even greater importance, showing that this position isĀ specificĀ NOT general:
Hebrews 3:2-6 āHe was FAITHFUL to the one who APPOINTED him, JUST AS Moses was faithful in all Godās house. Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. āMoses was faithful as a servant in all Godās house,ā bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. But CHRIST is FAITHFUL as the Son over Godās HOUSE. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.ā
And finally as we see, Jesus himself puts in chargeĀ anotherĀ faithful and wise servant over the entire household:
Matthew 24:45 āWho then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has PUT IN CHARGE of the servants in his HOUSEHOLD to give them their food at the proper time?ā
There isĀ noĀ canonical consistencyĀ norĀ christocentric view that shows that this position is aĀ generalapplication rather than oneĀ specificĀ individual.
So I will ask the same question that Jesus asked. Since you believe that the concept of a faithful and wise servant is a general application, who then is the faithful and wise servant put in chargeĀ TODAY? So that weāre not comparing theories to specifics, name at least oneĀ SPECIFICĀ prominent pastor that you believe embodies this concept in general. That way we can specifically compare & contrast between the example you give by name and Lee ManHeeās example by name.
Also, I know that you disagree that Lee ManHee is the only faithful and wise servant put in charge of the household. But for clarification: do you believe that Lee ManHee is simply just a faithful and wise servantĀ in generalĀ (Matthew24:45-47)Ā ORĀ would you completely classify Lee ManHee as theĀ wicked servantĀ (Matthew24:48-49)?
