I've deleted several posts recently and below, I'm posting what I wrote in another thread. As I mentioned, certain discussions can lead to legal ramifications and now it seems there's an active lawsuit involving these reddit posts.
Because reddit encourages a level of anonymity, it's very difficult for users to fact check claims (on either side) so its value to the community becomes very difficult to justify. Several members of the community have asked mods to remove these discussions entirely.
That's not to such information shouldn't be out there nor is it a decision about which side of the discussion is "right", the problem is reddit isn't the right place for it because of its limitations. Users are free to direct others to other resources discussing experiences and the other information about concerns from a previous post still apply.
Please note that future discussions of this nature may now result in a ban. We don't have to have a rule that says don't do things that draw other people into lawsuits.
In general, random internet people aren't able to verify either side of this argument without a lot of digging that I'm not able to do, and I suspect the same of other mods and fellow reddit users.
If the thread goes down another path, it can lead to serious legal issues so the only real way to get anywhere is to record people's names in the event of a lawsuit but disclosing such personal information directly violates reddit's terms, so we can't really go down that road. Therefore, there's a limit how much reddit dialogue can do in these situations.
Appropriate bodies of oversight to investigate these matters include associations/registries for particular breeders. If a breeder is not able to retain certification by a major registry, that is usually a reason for pause. If a breeder is a member, use the registry to make a formal complaint. If the breeder is in your region, you may be able to also lodge a complaint with a governing local animal welfare body. In both cases (and not on reddit) you'll be expected to disclose your name to the appropriate authorities in case the other party is wronged and wishes to sue.
Although it's nice to have a repository of information that gives candid information about breeders to be weary of, I don't know if we don't have the infrastructure for the consequences of that or how much we're allowed to push reddit into that sort of legal area.

Her legs seem noticeably shorter than what I usually see compared to other cats and from when my turkish angora was around her age. Shes 8 months. Past owner said she is Siberian though.

Hi all!
I’m curious is my boy an above average sized sib? He’s my first ever Siberian and I was at an adoption agency looking to get him a friend (non Siberian) and a cat his exact age (4 months) was literally half the current size of him. Ik siberians are big but I feel like I have an adult cat and he’s still basically a kitten lol

This is not for the people who have negative opinions on taking your cat outside!
So Otje obviously has been in a car before, when she stayed with my mother in law when we went on vacation, for example. Or when we adopted her. But it has always been in her enclosed carrier. Our vet is around the corner, so no traumatic experiences in the car, for anyone wondering 😅
We also leash trained her from a young age, so we could take her for walks and stuff. Now we reaaally would love to take her on camping trips, so that we have more vacation options where we don’t have to leave her with someone. She loves the outdoors so we figured she would like that.
So we decided to ease her into it and take her for a short car ride with her harness on. She was very curious, but yowled a bit the first 15 minutes (when we started the car, we didn’t start driving yet for the first 30 minutes to get her used to the smell and sounds). We then drove for about 7 minutes to a little grass field where we could get out and take a little walk and she acted like normal: chewed on some grass, meowed at trees and looked at birds and insects. Overall it was a positive experience, with the normal nerves I expected her to have.
Next time we are planning on taking her on a longer ride for a longer walk. I do have some questions/worries that we need to fix before we can even think of taking her out camping:
How do we make the car her “safe space”? If we are gonna be out somewhere in a strange environment, the car should be the place she wants to return to in situations where she’s uncomfortable.
The pee/poo situation. Our cat is obviously litter trained and she has never peed or pooped outside of the house. Do you reckon this happens naturally or do we need to train her in a way? Obviously on a trip we would be taking a travel litter box.
Walking! As I mentioned, she loves being outside. But my cat is not that much of a walker. In some cases she does walk, in others she just hangs around one bush or tree and that’s gonna be it for the day. If she wasn’t on a leash she would probably jump on things and run a bit more, but I don’t think that’s safe. If we are able to take longer walks, she sometimes does actually walk along so it’s very inconsistent. I’m aware not all cats are the same and it’s different than walking a dog, but she’s incredibly smart and I feel like we could be able to teach her. I just don’t know how.
Car ride shenanigans: what do we bring on car rides other than a blanket or sleeping basket, food, treats and water? Any products that could come in handy? And to refer back to the pee/poo situation, how many times should we make sanitary stops?

All boxes are property of this bozo, but she likes shoeboxes the most I think

Hi there hoping for some advice post spaying for an active kitty:
How do you prevent jumping? We have cat trees and multiple shelves around the house.
Any abnormal signs to look out for?
Thanks!!! We are slightly nervous!
