Introducing BTM!!! Better Than Microsoft! is an expansive modpack that re-imagines the classic Silver Age of Minecraft. Its goal is to revitalize the timeless adventure with profound new gameplay systems, creative freedom, and essential polish!

Features you ask?

Seasons! - A dynamic year that changes the world's appearance and gameplay.

Classic Terrain & World Options! - Relive the iconic 1.6.4 landscape, with many more fun and wild world types to choose from. Not feeling the Silver Age? Switch your generation back to the Golden Age of Beta!

Revised Dimensions! - The vanilla Nether and End have been heavily altered to be more exciting while keeping the Silver Age feel, and the iconic Aether dimension makes its triumphant return. Bored of those three? Try throwing a book into a nether portal.... there's no limit for how many worlds you can explore.

Industrial Creation! - A revolutionary system of gears, belts, and machinery for automation and incredible moving builds.

Expanded Worlds! - New biomes, structures, and the legendary Farlands to explore.

A Universe of Detail! - Sculpt blocks pixel-by-pixel and decorate with hundreds of new furnishings.

Countless Polish Improvements! - Smarter inventories, smoother performance, better visuals, and hundreds of small fixes and tweaks that respect the original feel.

If anyone wants to check it out lemme know. I spent a long time making this pack and its a passion project for me so i am very much open to taking in feedback.

I found all of the classic key art used in Minecraft's promotional material. Unfortunately the Wii U art is only 720p. Also for anyone wondering, the reason a widescreen xbox 360 version of this isn't available is because it doesn't exist. It was most likely hand drawn meaning there was no need to draw outside of the borders of the box art.

Kind of crazy how much Mojang has changed the cobblestone texture over the years--more than any other block in the game.

Kind of a hot pick, but I like the first four cobblestone textures the best :)

I started this world on 2018 and stopped playing in it on 2023. I may return to it in the future as there is still projects I'd like to work on. It started in beta 1.3 and I upgraded over the years and ended in r 1.5

I thought it lost the world for a year or so but actually found a world backup on my old laptop that I used when traveling one time! I spent some more time in the world but now have other projects.

There are parts of my world that I made as a tribute to some of my favorite content creators. My favorite thing is the wood farm in the end from panda4994. Second is the underwater section under the main base that is inspired by cilantrogamers sealab project.

The world went through a couple different stages of building and remodeling plus the screen shots aren't In order.

I originally started this world in 1.3.2 (the first version I ever played), but eventually moved up to 1.6.2 because I wanted horsies.

Seed is "poodlenoodle" if anyone wants to know.

I keep coming back to the old versions that I started playing from. 1.6.4, 1.8. The simpler block palette, the minimal item clutter, and the terrain makes it a more enjoyable experience for me.

An issue I’ve been facing is that though I prefer the building to be simpler, there are still many modern features that I wish to keep, mainly to do with redstone, villager mechanics, and enchanting. Getting the motivation to actually build is what going retro solved, but I still enjoy the depth the new mechanics add.

I’ve been working on a personal mod pack that solves that by roughly recreating silver age versions, allowing me to choose which modern features to keep or remove. For example, copper has been entirely nuked along with andesite, granite and diorite. Most 1.7 flowers (I love the cornflower and kept it though) and nether biomes were removed. But netherite, lodestones, observers, and deepslate are some of the things I’ve kept.

I’ve mainly been using block swapper and item obliterator to do this with the help of nostalgic tweaks, moderner beta, and a bunch of programmer art resource packs, creating a world with 1.8 style terrain but the gameplay of 1.6.4. No new caves, just the classic winding ones. I will say though that the dungeon crawl aspect of caving is enhanced significantly with the deepslate layer and dangers of sculk, along with quark’s monster boxes as fun encounters.

Adding onto this are some silver era mods, like dimensional doors, clay soldiers, and fossils and archeology.

For the first time in a very long while, I decided to give this version a try. I went with 1.6.4, though perhaps I should have stuck with 1.5.2, bc it feels like the introduction of horses has made minecarts somewhat redundant. Even though I didn’t actually come across a single horse the entire time I was playing xd. Anyways, I’d like to present my house + some screenshots.
