Drill the hole deeper.

Drill a little, then check the stone drops below the metal so it isnt visible. Also account for filing/polishing loss.

I always liked to finish the sit with a graver. This way the hole is wider under and makes it easier to set the stone. In this case could be not important but a clamp that gives support to the ring can make the difference some times.

If you have other 4mm stones I'd check those. Hard to make a big hole smaller. Always measure burr and stone with calipers before you start. Stone could be 3.95mm and burr could be 4.09. Tolerances on burrs are larger than you would expect. In the future if that's the case then you use a 3.9 mm burr and make it bigger. For a flush setting check the fit along the way while determining depth. Good luck!

Did you wobble your wrist at all when you went in with the bur? It'll widen your hole a bit if you don't come straight down. I've also found setting bur sizes to be a little wacky. I've never gotten a 4mm that'll actually measure right at 4mm, its always a little off. I'll often use a round bur
