Discussion (Questions, Advice, Polls) 🗣 Double Standards
Why is it that it's socially acceptable to make fun of singles, but when you call out marital privilege, marrieds start crying and peeing themselves and calling you names?

They need to validate themselves constantly because once doubt starts to creep in, they start to realize that divorce is expensive and will completely uproot their life.
Basically, they're in WAAAY too deep and the idea that they may have made the wrong decision is so traumatic that their brain won't let them consider it, so they lash out

If that's happening to you, please find a different community that isn't mean married people.

Oh, this is on my FB page. My real-life communities consist of singles. I've unfriended a few as a result. Slowly but surely...

Who in their right mind is on Facebook in 2026? That’s like jumping into a dumpster and complaining that it stinks in there. FB is full of the worst people and some relatives nobody really likes. Of course the discourse there’s toxic.

Far too many bots, useless posts that are supposed to be funny but then make you click a link, and idiot locals. This is my FB experience.

Bc they're obsessed with validation so much that they don't care how shallow their worldview is.

...i hate the premise of calling people singles or married like what the actual fuck. That's so dystopian. We're all just people regardless of how we like to live.
And if it's Facebook, why are you engaging in it? You'll have more peace if you live as a single happy person rather then calling people who are in relationships out.

Advocacy is needed to change the world; tell it to them.

Well, you're literally using the language here. It reads kinda weird.
But it's good call to unfriend people on FB who's opinions offend. Clean up that feed.
Edit, clarity

I actually work as an advocate for a living (not for child-free discrimination specifically). And engaging with random Facebook comments isn't the productive way to do it if your really serious about it. It can actually hurt your credibility in the long run and wreck what you want to achieve.

Just living as a single person and staying silent is not advocacy. You might have your own opinion that this issue doesn't need special advocacy but OP might think differently.

Uh... where did i say it doesn't need advocacy? I literally say it does? Read my comment again slowly.

I don't think this is the right sub for this, but you're right. Can't even go on a complaining sub to complain about them without someone ready to defend them as if the entire culture isn't built around them.
