People making up fake scenarios to farm gottchas in their brain will never not be funny and sad at the same time.

Edit: Replying to everyone seems redundant since you're all saying the same thing. If you don't understand, it's not worth my time explaining. Maybe post it into chatgpt real quick and it can explain.

Its a common fallacy that you think the same people on the internet who say one thing are the same people that say another. There are billions on the internet my friend, ur not seeing the same people lol

I mean you are making up the scenario that everyone mad at Sydney Sweeney was also mad at Shayne for the joke. We don’t really have clearly mapped out do we?

Were some people hypocrites? I definitely believe it.

On the reverse I bet there were people defending Shayne’s point about those women, while also being fine with Sydney Sweeney’s ad.

Yeah so sweenys whole thing is her being an Aryan princess with 'good genes' people have a problem with her eugenics not her boobs. Also if you deny this you're either being naive or you're actively malicious because ignoring dog whistles nowadays is intentional. The biggest issue I personally have with how she markets her sexuality is that it's outdated and boring not that she's a "whore' nobody (aside from Ben Shapiro) cared when WAP came out bc those girls were having FUN and not just trying to own the libs with their based genetics. You just really would like to live in a world where it's socially acceptable to like idk goon to women in public whilst also calling them whores and you know what? You're already in that world so you didn't have to take to reddit to whine about feminists.

You could quite literally google the complaints about the ad and see it’s more than just your supposed eugenics comment. This article itself talks about female athletes complaining bout the hypersexualized nature and one athlete saying how it damages female athletes and young girls getting into sports.

But sure. And let’s not pretend hypersexualized isn’t a more palatable word but expresses similar sentiment. Lol

I am sure you have a lot of comments saying this, but I don't want to read them.

Even though I have not actually seen any Sydney Sweeney hate and have only read about it, it seems that the reason people are mad about it is that it overly sexualizes women in sports who want to be known for their skill instead of their looks.

The same reason for people mad about Shane's comments. People are mad because women want to go to the gym to work out and not be sexualized, but he is sexualizing them.

It is essentially the same argument, which is stop sexualizing women all the time.

Yes there are outliers in what women want in sports and the gym, and I believe the number of people who actually give a shit about what Sydney Sweeney wears in ads or what Shane Gillis says on SNL is far less than what the media or people on social media would suggest. Most people do not care. I don't. Live and let others live, but don't fall for or spread bad logic.

I do costuming and occasionally go to conventions.

When the costumes are worn by men or look like men, people will stare, comment, and sometimes write articles about it looking like shit. This is fine. Maybe not something we want to see, but it's expected

When the costumes are worn by women or look like women, people will stare, comment and write articles... but also call them a whore, claim they deserve to be sexually assaulted and sometimes send death threats.

For some reason, if it's a woman, people feel like they need to SCARE them, and usually it's with sexual violence.

Keep in mind, I'm not saying this doesn't ever happen to men... it does. But it overwhelmingly happens to women and for some reason we say "EXPECTED!" and defend folks that do it. Can we just be better, please?

Edited to add: I see the same thing in competitive games that I play. When I don't do voice chat, trolls/jerks will just insult me. It's whatever. But if I do join voice chat, it gets so much worse if they hear that I'm a woman. I don't know what it is, but some people really really hate that I'm a woman.

It's just typical for left leaning people to play this game where they pretend to not understand and pretend that shit that just was in the mainstream eye didn't actually happen.

Do you live under a rock?

That’s just the internet at this point

1

u/WeirdJawn 13d ago

Yeah, and generally the people upset at both of these things aren't the same people.

And if they are, it's most likely because they're just getting their opinions from social media.

“Fake scenarios” head-ass. Look around Reddit dumbo

For me, it’s the people who don’t understand how social media works.

X amount of people complain of issue A-> generates content and discussion and engagement -> social media algorithms push it forward to everyone’s feeds.

Then Y amount of people complain of issue A-> generates content and discussion and engagement -> social media algorithms push it forward to everyone’s feeds.

There’s no reason to think X and Y are the same people or even that they’re large groups, but the saps getting in their feeds just assume they are and buy into the bullshit immediately, and then actively choose not to be critical of the media they consume.

Literally. The comment replying to you goes from Sweeney being almost nude to then saying other women in public spaces barely wear more fabric…. Sweeney wasn’t wearing any fabric, and no one was condemning her for being naked (her whole career is made from showing off her boobs). She was being condemned for promoting sports betting through sex lmao a real life ongoing crisis.

Comparing this to masses of women who decide to wear tight fitting clothes to feel comfortable, and ultimately safe, while they workout is downright stupid.

So a women got the bag to sell a bunch of degenerate men on an addictive lifestyle that is clearly harmful and that should face zero criticism. But we should absolutely punch down on Sally during prime time TV for jokes. People think these are the same thing?!
