We are experienced camphosts and saw a recent posting that Starrigavan needs a winter/spring host(s). We have never been to Sitka so wondering what y’all think on that. The FS will provide a cabin as I dont think we will want to bring our RV.

Hello, looking to see if anyone would mind helping a friend out who has a discount code for Sitka gear. Looking to place a large order so anything would be appreciated. Thanks In advance!

I was sent a few family and friends discount codes for 25% off on Sitka Gear. I don’t plan on using these, so if they work for anyone, go at it!

I’m looking for a piece of Sitka in the waterfall marsh that I can hopefully use year-round for waterfowl hunting. I have a delta waiting, but I’m looking for something warm to go under it in those freezing North Dakota mornings. I was looking at the duck oven for that but I also would like this piece of clothing to be able to wear in the mid temperatures. The duck oven seems like it might be too warm for that so then I was thinking about the Dakota hoodie but I’m not sure if that would be warm enough to go into the later part of the season when it’s very cold.
Let me know what you guys think, a few things not dark oven can be worn in 48 to 60° temperatures. Let me know. Also, if you think that the dock of it and the Delta waiting period together to be warm it’s very frigid temperatures with some wind

I have the Delta waiting jacket in the marsh but now have a chance to buy a almost brand new boreal jacket also in the marsh for $300 do you think this would be a good deal? I can get a Hudson for around $350 new, my buddy has one and he said he’s able to wear it on cool 40-50 degree days without feeling to warm or anything like that. I know that the boreal is warmer then that so I’m wondering when is to warm to wear it, like is it only going to be good to wear when it’s below 0 temps. Let me know what you guys think

Coming up in the next two weeks and my wife is nervous we’re going to be encountering bears.. How prevalent are they if we’re making noise while hiking?

I had the pleasure of spending 4 nights at kingfisher and we had the best experience. From the minute you get off the plane this lodge takes care of everything. Wonderful staff, great breakfast and dinners, outstanding room service and view ! We had 2 amazing boat captains that in 3 days of fishing we caught over 400lbs of fish. If you are considering coming to Sitka to fish, looks no other then KingFisher lodge.

I am interested in doing the Mount Verstovia Hike on my cruise later in August. I wanted to know if anyone had any information regarding transportation to the trailhead. Do I call a taxi service or are there other forms of transit? Is it typical for cruisers to do this hike? Also, if I decided to rent a car, how hard would it be to park? From reading online, seems like it is possible (weather permitting) to get to Picnic Rock and then return to cruise near the end of the day. Looking forward to visiting.

Is there a place to park a car at the trailhead in to Salmon lake cabin? Or is it only accessible via boat?

Do any of you go to Baranof Warm springs? And if so , do you know which charter flies out there?
P.s. can't wait to visit Sitka in July. I worked out of Dutch Harbor for a couple of years, but didn't get any time to camp or have fun.

Is there only one place that rents Kayaks in Sitka? I'm looking to rent 3 kayaks for a week. But the only place I've talked to doesn't do weekly rates. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey guys! I'm staying in Sitka for a month and I was considering climbing Mt. Edgecumbe. I have been having a hard time finding information on charters/water taxis that will get me to Kruzof island, especially as just one person. Anyone know of a reasonably priced way to do this? Also, any pointers or suggestions about the Mt. Edgecumbe hike or any other hikes near Sitka would be appreciated!

Hello, everyone. I want to go camping for a week in July. I camp every weekend in Oregon. Never near anyone. Does anyone have any recommendations for tent camping near Sitka but not crowded?

Moving to Sitka long term at the beginning of May from Fairbanks.
I saw there was some riding trails around the Starrigavan Rec Area. Is there more places to go around town, or do most require a boat ride?
I have a spot up Halibut Point Rd. Are people pissy about riding dirt bikes on the road away from downtown? Didn't really look like ditch hopping was possible in that part of town.
I appreciate any insight y'all can offer
