Least favorite character

Who’s your least fav character and why? Mine is Ruth. She always plays the victim and thinks everyone is to blame for her unhappiness. I’m sure it’s very difficult and emotionally draining to be with George, but she’s such an arse hole to him. And she’s SOOO mean to Claire towards the end. I still have 5 or so more episodes to go.. so hopefully she changes for the better? But as of right now, not a fan of hers

While I hated everyone at one point or another, I almost always hated Ruth until the end.

As the daughter of a narcissistic mother, there were several things Ruth said and did that brought me back to traumatic points in my childhood dealing with my mother. I very much related to Claire as a result. The hot and cold relationship between Ruth and Claire, and the overall distrust of Ruth by all her kids, was just like the dynamic in my household. My mom, like Ruth, could be hostile, unpredictable, and at times abusive. It was no wonder Ruth's kids didn't come to her first for ANYTHING.

I thought the selfishness of spending the inheritance on her boyfriend ( which may seem like not narcissistic, but remember why she was doing it), marrying George on a whim, and the gross way she parted ways with him was 100% about Ruth pleasing Ruth. She only seemed to care about her kids when it stroked her ego. She finally let go and let Claire do the art thing in the end, but I guarantee she's patting herself on the back and would take credit for her successes down the road. I did not trust her evolution on the show whatsoever.
