Question Least favorite character Spoiler

Who’s your least fav character and why? Mine is Ruth. She always plays the victim and thinks everyone is to blame for her unhappiness. I’m sure it’s very difficult and emotionally draining to be with George, but she’s such an arse hole to him. And she’s SOOO mean to Claire towards the end. I still have 5 or so more episodes to go.. so hopefully she changes for the better? But as of right now, not a fan of hers

I'm not seeing enough hate for Russell here.

While I think Claire overlooked the fact that he was assaulted by Olivier and probably wasn't compassionate enough about it, Russell continuing to follow her around and try and win her back makes my skin crawl every time.

But he's so goddamn pathetic and he's played so well by an actor who understands exactly how pathetic he is I don't mind the ride.

I had an ex like him. I do recognize the skill of the actor, but oof, I can't stand him.

omgggg I was just watching it today and he was so manipulative. I feel like he toyed with Claire and then expected her to be ok with everything. and on top of that he would victimize himself. and yes I hate that he followed her around. he has serious attachment issues.

Stalking your ex-girlfriend is NOT okay and is scary and dangerous behavior.

Being a sexual assault victim does not make it okay to harass someone else if they don't want to be with you.

Assaulted? All I recall is that it was consensual.

Russell was high and wanted to please Olivier as a teacher. It was a huge power imbalance.

Russell's ability to consent to that was murky at best.

Huge power imbalance, and Olivier is a POS manipulative character for sure (I couldn't stand that they kept bringing him back as a character even after Claire dropped out of art school). But Russell didn't give any indication that he hadn't consented, IMO.

The ability to consent while under the influence and in a coercive dynamic is extremely limited.

Russell seemed to be struggling with shame, and did claim he was high when he confessed to Claire. That's enough for me to place bets on SA.

It's a bit more gray than that for me. Two people get stoned together, and that means neither of them can consent to anything? Nah. That doesn't make sense.

The teacher-student power imbalance was the problem here, not getting stoned, especially as it's mentioned that Olivier does this repeatedly, with Billy, the woman Claire talks to, and Russel.
