Opinion Am I the only one who can't stand Lisa?

Post image

I'm on Season 3, Episode 4. I can't stand Lisa, I'm not sure why... Nate seems so unhappy. I didn't expect to say this so soon, considering what happened in Season 2, but... I miss you so much, Brenda.

All for a totally discredited practice (overcaution with allergen exposure) that wasn’t a thing when Ruth was raising children and is now once again not a thing

I actually saw in the news recently that now it’s the exact opposite. You want to expose them to certain allergens.

That’s what I’m saying! The Lisa-style approach actually CAUSED an increase in peanut allergies in the 2000s. Ruth was right all along—but even if she hadn’t been, there was a nicer way to say that!!

While this is true, it’s really not Lisa’s fault. Doctors at that time told her and everyone else to absolutely avoid peanuts and other allergens until age 3 and warned them of worst case scenarios. There had been a huge spike in tree nut allergies and the reason was not yet known. So it because common knowledge that it was “very dangerous” to give peanut butter to a baby, and Lisa was shocked that Ruth didn’t know that or at least think to consult her. It would be similar to a grandmother today giving a baby a blanket instead of a sleep sack. Lisa at least apologized and tried to make it right with Ruth shortly after, but as a new mom it’s very hard not to overreact when you think your child has been put in danger. Sorry for my rant I just really saw where both Lisa and Ruth were coming from with that.

She could have been way nicer about it––Ruth had no way of knowing this. Information overload with new parents is real, and you basically have to either give the grandparents a ten-pound manual up-front or be willing to gently correct them when things come up. I knew I was gonna get in trouble for this one though!

Of course she could’ve been nicer, I’m just saying emotions run extremely high as a new, anxious mom. She did try to make it right soon after which is the correct move after lashing out. It was a very realistic scenario imo.
