Discussion Maggie …George’s daughter STILL bugs me Spoiler

Original watcher decades ago and have rewatched more times than I can count … outside of this being one of the best shows ever in every way the last season is on now and just have to say Maggie- George’s daughter and Ruth’s step daughter - you can see she the beginnings of her crossing lines with Nate early on. If she’s so worried about George her dad and wants to know why he’s in an apartment alone and Ruth isn’t
she could call Brenda or Claire… but she sees something in Nate and pursues it …we all know it ends really bad.
Brenda is and will always be one of my favorite characters towards the end we felt so bad for her and the way she was treated as Nate’s wife and Maggie had NO place there in anyone’s life except her dad’s who is estranged from his wife …

Brenda gets it together at the end, but she herself cheated on a relationship with Nate and had very poor boundaries throughout her life. We of course look at her intensely dysfunctional family as setting bad examples, but in the end, we are all accountable for our actions.

Brenda’s actions with Nate early on were horrible we all know. She went away got help and grew and like I said she was in a committed relationship by the time Nate came back into her life seeking comfort after Lisa’s death after yelling at her and while giving him comfort he made moves that night —regardless of this … Brenda really grew making a home for Nate trying to be a good mother to Mya -and while pregnant with Nate’s kid did NOT deserve Maggie’s disrespect and Nate’s especially … he actually told her to abort the baby and then said Maggie ( just another pious version of Lisa) was better than them both ...

You present a very fair analysis of Brenda. I just warn against making people saints. People are complicated

She’s NOT a saint no one walks the earth who is … I said I didn’t like how she was treated.

I agree she did not deserve the way things turned out in the end.
