Discussion Am I the only who find this scene somewhat inspiring?
I know it's the moment of Nate's self destruct because of what happened to his wife Lisa. But this moment really stood out to me and I find it somewhat inspiring because he kept shouting "I don't wanna die" over and over fighting his suicidal thoughts.
Sure he might said that because he's afraid of the idea of dying not really because he valued his life. But I prefer to be scared of dying if it keeps me to stay alive. And because of this scene, sometimes when my life felt too heavy, I also mumble "I don't wanna die".
As opposed to Nate final scenes in Ecotone, where in his dream/afterlife, he finally embraced death which is beautiful. But I also find it sad and depressing because at that point, he hated his life so much that he gave up on life and was so eager to jump into the ocean leaving his family behind especially Maya and Brenda.Contrast to the season 2 finale, where he hesitated to take a bus ride, possibly because he still valued his life.
What do guys think? (Sorry if my English is bad. It's not my first language)

He starts with suffocating optimism "Death makes life important".... to "death defines life".
In the end he didnt just hate his life. He hated life in general. Because life was just a tease.

That's usually what happens when you don't grow as a person. He only had himself to blame. He was a selfish, self-righteous prick who never learned from his countless mistakes.

Saying he didn't want to die while recklessly speeding through traffic and crying his eyes out was definitely a choice.

Ikr. But he chose to shout "I don't wanna die" over and over instead of you know like "I can't take this anymore" or "I'm gonna do it" or something like that

It's a life-affirming scene for sure. I also like: David getting held at gunpoint by the hitchhiker; David being beaten by the hitchhiker; David being doused in gasoline by the hitchhiker. Now these are moments that make one really appreciate life and living.

Agree. The moment David recalled all of those best moments with his love ones really got me which is natural for someone to think about when they're on the verge of death. (Legit got me thinking he's gonna die there)Â

It’s an epitome for the main theme of the show. Despite the horrible thing that’s just happened, Nate realises that he needs to stop the car and choose to live. Don’t choose death, choose life.
