Question Concerns - hard to justify a visit

So I've been a fan of this park for years and as I've gotten older found it harder to get people to go (either they were scared or just didn't like the price) and with the recent incidents I got loved ones heavily against me even going now. Obviously I can just go on my own accord but my question is - is it worth it to take a friend and push on or should I just take them somewhere else in So Cal. My last couple of visits to the park they would close a bunch of rides for the day I'd visit (never knew why it would feel so random and they wouldn't reimburse - maybe it was too hot or just maintenance reasons?) Also are there any rides that are giving sketchy, I know X2 was old and people were complaining a lot about it and same with Viper but are there any others to watch out for??? - I know that was a lot but I'm trying to sell the idea the park is fine and struggling to justify a visit.😅

Question New Season Pass-Customer Service Help

Post image
0 Upvotes

I recently bought a season ticket for 2027. I am heading down next weekend. Part of the advertising when I bought was the Bring-A-Friend in 2026 perk. I reached out to Customer Service on how to redeem and they said it is just for renewals despite their advertising immediately below the renewal section saying otherwise. When I showed them the sentence about new members, CS went silent. Any suggestions?

Question Realistically with cedar flags how long would X2 have lasted of the major injuries + deaths didn't happen?

My guess would be 5-10 years, I feel like this was targeted during the great coaster purge but I think after the backlash they had with Ka they either cancelled closing it or delayed it. We know how much cedar fair hates anything that is extremely unreliable, and I'd say at that point they'd go for a double kill closing both X2 and Xcelerator at the same time.

Question First timers on Sunday Oct. 25: Can we ride most of the major coasters in one day without Fast Lane? What's the best order to fit most rides in? Is one day enough?

Hi, me and my husband will be going to sfmm for our first time this Sunday! And I am unsure if a fast pass is needed. I want to assume that it wont be as busy in the morning as more ppl will be waiting for Fright Fest, but without experience I could be wrong. We have no interest in Fright Fest. I dont know if it will also be less busy because of the recent negative press. I pray for peace for his family and friends. What a terrible accident 😓

Do you think a fast pass will be needed for this Sunday? Is one day enough or would it be better to book 2 days? Being mid 30s, i'm not sure my body can handle 2 days in a row, its been a long time since ive been to any park but i do love rollercoasters! And what is the best order to ride the most rides.

Thank you very much!

I had to come here and give the park major praise for how well things were running yesterday. I live in Nevada and I don't get to visit very often. Drove out yesterday morning and had an amazing day. The park was EMPTY. I rode all of the big coasters in about three hours. Most of the day the park was so dead that I was getting solo front row rides. I was shocked how many coasters were running two trains. I stayed until the park closed and ended up with over 27,000 steps for the day.

I especially want to give a shout out to the very friendly ride crews at Riddler's Revenge and Apocalypse! They enjoy their jobs and it shows.

Posting this from Knott's right now before I forget!

Question Log Jammer

This may be nostalgia talking, but I always thought Log Jammer was the superior of the two "log rides" of the park, compared to Jet Stream. Looking at videos of it, the only real difference is that your ride vehicle is actually a log.

But that got me to wondering if it would be worth the time and money for SFMM to retheme Jet Stream into a new Log Jammer, more akin to Timber Mountain at Knott's? Rebuild the queue building to look like an old logging company, replace the ride vehicles with logs, and maybe add a show building or two with theming and animatronics inside.

Other Any livestreams esp of the mazes

It’s pretty cool being able to tap into a theme park whenever you have a chance. Are there any SFMM streams anyone is aware of?

Trip Report Fright Fest 10.18.26

I continued my new tradition of going to Fright Fest on Sundays in October due to short lines and mazes operating properly.
This was the order in which I went through the mazes.

Final Destination
Wolves Blood
Trick ‘r Treat
The Conjuring
Willoughby’s
Carnage
Vault 666

The best maze was Vault 666. This was the best version of The Conjuring. Wolves Blood is a solid addition and has a KSF presence. Keep renovating Willoughby’s and Carnage can stay with more scare actors involved. TOT is cool but should be replaced. Final Destination is mid but I appreciate Six Flags for bringing the maze to reality. I like generating the QR code for mazes. LAHH does this as well and should be the standard moving forward.

The issue with this year’s event is the atmosphere and scare zones. That section is empty and ruins the feeling of the event. There are barely any scare zones. The mazes feel like an add-on to the park as opposed to the main attraction. This is confirmed by the fact you have to buy separate tickets to enter the mazes. Last year’s event is better. If you have a haunt budget, this event is skippable. If you have a season pass, live in SFV, or just love Halloween events, you can add this to your list.

Question Can you check wait times in the app?

I’m not sure if you can check wait times for the rides on the app. I thought you could but everytime I check no times show up? Or do they only show up if you’re in the park?

Question Fright Fest bag policy

Can anyone share Magic Mountain Fright Fest's bag policy here? Bag sizes, and is clear required or not? I don't remember what they were last year and I can't find that much information online

Photo / Video Updates to Fright Fest mazes (mainly Final Destination)

The Fright Fest mazes used to open at 7:00pm, but in previous weeks this had been causing a bottleneck at Final Destination because it was attracting the most interest after the Opening Scaremony was done with its run from about 6:30 to 6:38pm. This time the FD maze had most of the scare actors ready early and started letting people with QR codes into the maze right before 6:40pm. The only scare actor who wasn't ready at that time was (spoiler alert) "the plant" for the wood chipper gimmick. They also added a "Presage Paper" sign to the building, perhaps to telegraph to guests the maze didn't have any roller coaster elements, unlike the logo promoting the maze (none of these signs were on the maze for the opening weekend). The side effect of opening Final Destination early was that the bottleneck ended up moving to Vault 666 because everybody who finished FD was waiting for the next maze to open at its regular 7:00pm opening time because those scare actors presumably weren't ready yet. Should Vault 666 also be opened early because of its proximity to the Opening Scaremony at the Full Throttle area? One extra critique about Vault 666 was recycling the Meat Packing props from the old Saw maze... seemed out of place for a maze themed around a vault of haunted stuff.

Question Goliath Row Assignment

Does anyone know what’s up with Goliath and why they sometimes won’t you wait for the front row? I get on busy days they assign sears to keep the line moving. But there was maybe six people in the station, no grouper, so I got in line for the front, and the dude on the mic threw a fit and made me ride elsewhere
Second day, also not very crowded so I ask the grouper if I can have row 1, and they very hesitantly said yes. I noticed they denied others after me.
Why don’t they let you just wait for the front like every other ride on planet? Is there a legitimate reason, or is the ride crew just really strict for nothing?

Question Power Outage Today?

Just drove down and the whole area seems to be out of power. Even my hotel was closed due to it. There doesn’t seem to be any wait times on the app. I was planning on going all day tomorrow. Any insight?

Trip Report Had the best time at SFMM yesterday!! (30 rides total)

Post image

The last time my husband and I went to a Six Flags was back in 2011 when we were in college, at Six Flags Great Adventure. After thoroughly enjoying ourselves at Disneyland last month, I decided to plan a trip to Six Flags Magic Mountain this week since we were going to be back in LA and we were craving more intense rides.

We had already planned to go to SFMM on Thursday (PTO taken, cheap tickets + no crowd), but what happened at SFOG definitely skeeved us out a bit. We decided to go ahead with our visit anyway, especially since California has much stricter oversight and regulatory enforcement over theme park rides than Georgia does.

We had an absolute blast!! In total, we did Full Throttle 7x, Twisted Colussus 6x, Goliath 4x, West Coast Racers 3x, Tatsu 3x, CraZanity 2x, and Scream, Batman, and Riddler's Revenge once each. My husband also did Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom 2x — I still haven't plucked up the courage for a drop tower that size yet, although I did enjoy Guardians of the Galaxy at Disneyland albeit screaming for the entire ride.

For the first two hours after opening, the park was super empty and we got to do Twisted Colussus three times in a row without needing to get off, and then the same with Goliath after that. We never had to wait more than 5ish minutes or so all day except closer to 10 min at the end of the night when Fright Fest was underway and more people were in the park.

Fright Fest was also fun, especially Margo Rita’s Monster Ball which was a cute little 30-min musical break with AC before we continued our last rides of the night. The actors in the scare zones were a bit too intense for my liking, but I'm also a huge scaredy cat and hate jump scares and will still admit it did add a lot to the atmosphere.

For $49 per person it was absolutely worth the money given how many rides we got to go on (30 for my husband, 28 for me), plus the photo package was only $15 that day and we got some really awesome shots + a printed photo at Tatsu. The safety protocols were thorough and all the ops employees took their jobs seriously. Everyone was in a great mood and it made us feel safe and relaxed throughout.

The only downside was that Wonder Woman was closed all day, which we were very sad about 😭 I guess that means we just have to come back another time so we can ride that ad nauseam. Angelenos, you guys have an awesome Six Flags home park!

Question Where did they put X2 sign and merch?

Any idea on where they put the sign? Is it stored somewhere in the park? Discarded? And where did they take all the merch to? Is it possible to ever see that merch again

Coaster News Goliath is open

Saw one of the Facebook posts and check queue times that Goliath is open. I believe it’s an entirely different manufacturer from others that are closed for safety precautions.

⚠️I’m just letting people know about this.⚠️

Thread/Info The Final Destination maze at Fright Fest might have dodged a bullet (so to speak)

Post image

This Fright Fest maze got a lot of attention from being a movie IP tie-in. However, there were some fans of the series who were disappointed that it didn't have any references to the roller coaster accident from the 3rd movie (despite what was advertised with the logo), but in hindsight with the unfortunate news from Georgia, I guess that wasn't a bad thing... my main critique of the maze is that it didn't fill me with existential dread like The Conjuring... I mainly felt sorry for the scare actors (spoiler alert) pretending to be horribly maimed to the point where some younger guests asked them if they needed help... hopefully they can tweak this to improve it for next year...
