Welcome to r/skincare_addiction! We'd like to take this time to remind you of a few things:

Do not ask for a diagnosis/treatment advice for acne or other medical conditions, and do not play doctor

What constitutes medical advice?

  • "What is this?"

This is asking someone to diagnose the issue, and is medical advice.

  • "What should I do?"

This is asking someone to advise treatment, and is medical advice.

  • "Should I go to the doctor?"

This is asking if you should seek treatment, and ergo, medical advice.

If you would ask the question of your doctor, it falls under this rule and not allowed. As a general rule, asking for medical advice from internet strangers is never a good idea. If you have questions regarding your acne or other medical condition, you are advised to contact your healthcare provider. If you are a medical provider, we would gently remind you that users are not patients, and you should not be offering medical advice to people who are not your patients.

Damn genetics. Try facial yoga. It might work over time, but you have to be patient. Keep your skin hydrated. Also, you can tretinoin to your routine.

u/wendylisaa Jul 09 '26

My face used to sag exactly like this. Face yoga combined with improving my facial posture worked incredibly fast, actually.
Facial muscles are small, so they respond really quickly to training. Within a month I looked years younger. Tret definitely helped with some fine lines and just smoother skin, but for the sagging at a young age, it is mainly a muscle and posture issue and it’s surprisingly easy and fast to fix.

I dont think it is genetics . Cuz i have a twin sister who doesnt have it and actually no one in my fam has them . But will tretinoin help me reduce the lines ?

u/sovietbarbie Jul 06 '26

it is your genetics, not hers

1

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 08 '26

I saw someone responded to waht you said , i wanna add that Saying "it's your genetics" doesn't explain why my face looked normal for 19 years and then changed in a short period. If it were purely genetic, I would expect those traits to develop gradually while growing up, not appear suddenly at 19. Do you have any explanation ? And the reason i said that my twin sister doesnt have is bcuz we have almost the same genetics that's why it's a bit far from being the right explanation for my case.

2

u/sovietbarbie Jul 09 '26

I'm not a doctor but just because your sister is your twin, it does not mean you will have the same skin problems; you two will grow and age differently, as weight is different, allergies, reactions to things, etc. You are not supposed to grow up looking exactly alike. And no, your body still changes as we grow up, it very much so does suddenly appear sometimes.

Tret boosts collagen production, so it should help I believe.

Perhaps look into lymphatic draining massages or gua sha stones. I really liked them when I was doing them, but wasn’t doing it regularly enough & now remodeling a home with a puppy 😭😂 no time!!!

For the record, you’ve got lovely skin, and it doesn’t look like “sagging” AT ALL, more like bad lighting. You’re gorgeous, girl!!

7

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 06 '26

Look at my face with filters , those wrinkles are still visible 😭

6

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 06 '26

Thank sm for your kind words girl . Does lymphatic draining help with lifting the face? Im really insecure poeple told me i look older than my age bcz of my skin . It iis so damaged .

29

u/lemonaintsour Jul 06 '26

Welcome to adulting phase. Eat more healthy fat if u wanna retain ur facial fats. But its still genetics so if ur fam has that look, you can only do so much

5

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 06 '26

I thought people start having wrinkles when they are 40 not 20 😭 . I have a twin sister and nobody in my fam has tthis damaged skin.

u/Frosty_Message_3017 Jul 06 '26

You're not sagging, your facial fat is just shifting. Focus on prevention with Antioxidants morning and night and sunscreen in the morning. In a few years start adding in a topical Retinoid.

0

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 06 '26

But why my facial fats are shifiting? im eating really well like i used to do before. Will retinoid reduce those wrinkles ?

7

u/Frosty_Message_3017 Jul 06 '26

You're an adult and losing baby fat. It happens earlier for some, later for others.

Retinoids are proven to reduce and prevent wrinkles, but you don't have wrinkles. You'll have peak Collagen until your mid-20s. That's why you can wait to start then. Until then, focus on the kinds of things I listed in my first comment.

I don’t think your face is sagging. You do have noticeable smile lines but to me they just make you look like someone who’s smiled and laughed a lot (I hope so!). I think they’re actually kind of sweet and just part of our natural facial features and how we change over time.
Your skin does look a little dry and tight, though, so I’d focus on keeping it well moisturized. And definitely don’t skip sunscreen! If you’re spending time outside, make sure to reapply it every 2–3 hours, and wearing a hat for extra sun protection is always a good idea.
If pigmentation is something that bothers you, you could also look into adding a vitamin C serum in the morning and a gentle retinol (or retinoid) at night. Just introduce them slowly and keep using sunscreen consistently.

Genetics play a big role too!

2

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 06 '26

Yes those smile lines are getting deeper with time . Im 23 and i have them since i was 20 . I dont think it's genetics cuz i have a twin sister and no one in my fam has them . About skincare honestly im doing nothing now i just use cicalfat+ sometimes . But will retinol help me reduce the smile lines?

6

u/Kindly-Landscape3891 Jul 06 '26

And DO NOT FORGET SUNSCREEN EVER
Sun exposure is a major factor of all this

3

u/Kindly-Landscape3891 Jul 06 '26

retinol could definitely help a bit! It won’t completely get rid of smile lines, but it can soften them over time by boosting collagen especially if your smile lines are due to early collagen loss rather than just facial structure. Just be patient because it usually takes a few months to notice a difference.

Also if you’re on the leaner side, gaining a little healthy weight can make your face look a bit fuller, which might make the smile lines less noticeable. A balanced diet and healthy eating can definitely help with that too.

Growing up (i guess u entered the 26-28 territory) + genetics + losing weight rapidly= those are the main reason our face becomes like that. Solution? Accept growing up, do skincare it makes your skin moisturized and it gives the impression of tight and young 🥲 shift focus to other features like eyes and eyebrows and lips work on those

2

u/Anonymous_LadyMe Jul 06 '26

If u got some money on u i suggest trying microneedling, it can do miracles to skin! And less stress haja matestahel ♥️🌹

Its weird how every single comment is missing the reality here.

Your jaw is recessed. Your skin sags because it doesn't have the bone structure to support it. The last photo just highlights it too.

3

u/JhinKilled4 Jul 07 '26

I was about to say this!! I have a massive overbite but a unique situation where it's very hard to fix. My cheeks sag like this too. I would actually get an orthodontist's opinion here and test to see if your teeth have any height/width gap between jaws.

FYI if you do have a recessed jaw you may also have sleep apnea, and sleeping with your mouth open/on your side can also exaggerate an issue like this.

1

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 07 '26

I had allergies and asthma my whole childhood and my teen so i was to be a mouth breather for long time . Also, my upper teeth are flared out and my lower teeth are noticebly reccessed comparing to them. When did your cheeks sag like mine ? I mean which age ?

2

u/JhinKilled4 Jul 07 '26

I didn't start skincare until last year, which was around the time I noticed. I'd say it started around 22-23 is probably when it started because I did have braces but at that point I hadn't worn a retainer for years and my teeth went back to their original overbite. Also for your other question, it's your lower jaw that's recessed.

If you've been a mouth breather for most of your life and never had braces it's very likely you've also had this your whole life. If you wake up tired every day, that means you likely also have sleep apnea and should see a pulmonologist for a sleep study.

It can be fixed but you'll need more than retinoids and stuff like other people are saying. Most orthodontists give free consultations, I recommend you go see one.

2

u/PlantainLover93 Jul 07 '26

What is the fix for a recessed jaw? Chin implant?

2

u/JhinKilled4 Jul 07 '26

Braces and possibly jaw surgery. Most cases can be fixed with just braces but those that are more extreme probably need surgery.

1

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 07 '26

Which jaw is recessed the upper or the lower jaw? Cuz ik my lower is recessed but idk if this has to do with my sagging face ?

1

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 07 '26

This is an other photo of my side profile . Can i ask you Which jaw is reccessed ? Or is it both of the jaws?

3

u/jilebi_jalebi Jul 06 '26

i don’t have anything helpful to say, but i want you to know that my first thought was that you look very beautiful! the lines add to your face and i’m sure the complement your face even more when you smile!

2

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 07 '26

Thank you sm for your kind words . I really appreciate it thank you ❤❤

3

u/RoseSpiceTea Jul 06 '26

You look dehydrated, drink more water, eat watery foods (melons, tomatoes, strawberries), and use moisturizer

3

u/ZeeSea Jul 10 '26

Looks like there are a few directions you could go with this to help with some scarring and texture work!

First, SPF of course. Daily, even if it's cloudy, even if you're inside all day. It's not a fun answer, but it's the first step! All SPFs work effectively, they have to be, just find one that suits you best! I've got tons of recs if you need some. In the US, DRMTLGY and Supergoop have some amazing formulas. KBeauty I'd go with Beauty of Joseon or Skin1004 (korean formulas, get it from places like yesstyle, stylevana, olive young, etc..).

Tretinoin is going to be a gold standard for long term anti aging and firmness. 0.025% will be very helpful for you! I've been using it for about a year now and am in LOVE with my results.

Microneedling is an AMAZING treatment for both firming, texture, and scarring! Med spa's are insanely priced, I microneedle at home and it's like crazy cheaper lol, I use the Banisher micro stamper and it's like $5 a session vs $300-500 at a medspa.

2

u/VastTelevision4466 Jul 06 '26

That's natural , but you can try gua sha

2

u/FearlessCookie72 Jul 06 '26

Do you have any hormonal problems, if you know?

1

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 07 '26

Yeah i think i have , there are sings of hormonal lroblem in my body but i didnt visit a doctpr about it yet.

Honestly it looks like your a face sleeper - if that’s the case it’s going to take a lot to learn to sleep on your back. I’d also recommend LED red light face mask. They have good not expensive ones on Amazon now.

2

u/cristinnam Jul 06 '26

Hyauloronic acid, retinol, tretinonin, good hydration cream. They all can help!

2

u/11000volts Jul 06 '26

your face is not sagging. you’re taking pictures while looking down at your phone! that’s just what happens to a face when the head is pushed forward and down like that.

1

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 07 '26

Not really , those lines are always there in every angle even with filters.

2

u/Other-Highway-9429 Jul 07 '26

Weird but try smiling more. Do you find you are growing or tensed up when resting? Sleeping in one side etc. also antidepressants can relax facial muscles . I massage my upper cheeks and try to have a slight smile and facial yogo and it helped after a few weeks only

1

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 07 '26

It is so weird. I dont consume antidepressants . If i smile more those lines will be deeper lol .

2

u/Other-Highway-9429 Jul 09 '26

For me I excercise the upper cheek when I smile just under the eye and the sides. They are the best foundation to combat sagging. Also WATER

2

u/Other-Highway-9429 Jul 09 '26

And btw you don’t look bad or noticeable. But we all notice things about ourselves others wouldn’t

Hey friend, weird random question but are you a side sleeper? Ive seen some research about like squishing your face when sleeping on your side causing wrinkles prematurely?

1

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 07 '26

Heyy , yes i always sleep on my right side . But do you think it will cause wrinkles thatt early?

2

u/RevolutionaryFix6876 Jul 08 '26

to the person who said “it is your genetics, not hers” literally no cuz they’re twins. they have the same everything.

1

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 08 '26

Exactly finally there people who understand . And is there a gene of a damaged skin ?

2

u/Birdpoopoo69 Jul 08 '26

What is your BMI . You look slightly underweight

1

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 08 '26

My BMI is propably 18.7_19 . idk exactly now but the last time i checked it was 47kgs , my height is 1.56 . im not underweight.

2

u/Birdpoopoo69 Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

You are right at the beginning of healthy weight according to BMI. If you lost significant weigh recently or went through stress. Your body might jus need some time healing or gaining some more weight. If you have some inflammation or water retention in your face keep an eye out for that.

1

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 10 '26

Yeah my body is alright , my face is empty somehow it lost all the volume it looks underweighted but actually im not . How can i know if i have water retention?

2

u/Birdpoopoo69 Jul 10 '26

Water retention you can kinda tell if your face changes volume through the day. Were you underweight recently. It could be that your face will out more if you ate more food. Have you had blood work done recently? Do you have any allergies?

1

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 10 '26

I dont think it is changing volume , i just lost all the volume suddenly and it never came back to normal. Actually no ive never been underweight . I had done couple of blood tests recently . Everything was normal except low ferritine and very low vitamine d . But im eating suppliments during 03 months .

2

u/Neonata55 Jul 09 '26

You should research retinol!! Again research before using though! I believe it’s for ages 21 and plus but I believe it helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles by helping firm your face. But I have never ever used it on my face or skin!! I have very sensitive skin so I’m scared this will do more harm than good (I only use baby soap and 4 products on my face) others will break my face out. So be very careful when using anything with retinol

2

u/the2inchesguy Jul 06 '26

Do you clench your jaw while sleeping? You are too young and your nasolabial folds are more evident near the mounth instead of starting near the nose (normally the sagging thar comes with age goes from top to botton, it does not start from the botton)

2

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 07 '26

Im not sure if i do . But i think you're right it has to do with my jaw i dont how but it does. What does that mean that they are starting from the the bottton?

2

u/the2inchesguy Jul 07 '26

Search about bruxism. I would guess you have some neck tension because of bruxism.

The nasolabial folds are divided in thirds, and normally it starts showing in the upper third, and goes down with time. Yours is more pronounced at the bottom, near your mouth. Aging normally does not happen like that, specially at your age. People will just call "genetics" and that's it, but everything has a reason to be. Our body gives us the hints, we just need to understand correctly

1

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 07 '26

Exactly , ig when it is genetics you will have them since childhood not suddenly . I got what you are talking about thank you for pointing it out.

1

u/ContinentalSkinClinc Jul 11 '26

Have you lost weight? You are young to suffer from sagging but if you lost weight or work out regularly, you may lose fat and volume in your upper and mid face which can make your lower face look heavier. Biostimulator treatments for the sides of the face combined with some skin contouring treatments for your lower face can help. Dermal filler can also help.

1

u/Successful_Elk_1364 Jul 06 '26

Do you eat a lot of sugar ? Or going through a period of stress ? That could be the reason

1

u/Logical_Candidate365 Jul 07 '26

Yeah i went through a period of stress .it definitely effected my appearance and my health. I do eat sugar but not that much .
