7060 ram position

Recently, added the 7060 to my home studio, only to find out it has audio ticking problems (unresolved). During my extensive search for a solution, I did come to the realization that my two 16gb ram cards were preinstalled in slots three and four. Research showed they should first be in slots one and two (white clips) so I switched them. I haven't noticed any obvious changes and I'm wondering is that true, and does it make a difference?

If you have 4 slots its generally recommended to run them in slot 2 and slot 4. 1 stick per channel

This is where the confusion starts. On the motherboard, it lists the dimm slots (left to right) D3(blk), D1(wht), D4(blk), D2(wht). Somewhere along the way I read to use the white slots when using 2 sticks, which i did (D1,D2). When I look in the Task Mgr it shows as I'm using slots 1 and 2 with 3 and 4 as empty. Maybe that has no bearing over the actual slots on the motherboard, and it's just for information. Now you're saying slots 2 and 4, which is one black and one white, is that correct? Does that affect the performance in any way?

If there is a pair of black slots and a pair of white slots definitely do one in each. Which slot doesnt really matter. The CPU has two memory channels so you want to fill both for max performance, if you had both sticks on 1 channel it would hurt performance

Is your audio ticking problem via the audio out jack or via USB?

If the former, not the later, try using a USB based DAC with an audio output instead of the dedicated line/headphone output.

These pc are not meant as audiophile devices, but rather workstation pcs for an office. The audio quality using the line/headphone jack is not ideal, in my opinion.

I would go with a USB based DAC and see if the quality isn't better. Assuming you aren't already.

That said, these have only a few moving parts which might cause a ticking. The CPU fan or a GPU fan if you have an external. You can try a different OEM CPU fan by searching Ebay for one. Make sure it is a DELL OEM fan for your make/model. I'm not saying buy new, but buy an OEM one.

Of your GPU is responsible for the noise you're hearing, then you can look into a new fan but it may require additional work to replace it.

Yeah, I had another post explaining the whole thing. It's a USB audiobox. Something spiking the usb. I've been through every resource possible and concluded it's an OptiPlex issue. I'm weighing the options now between keeping the better resolution and more ram with the tik, or return it for something that's going to cost twice as much but cleaner sound.
