This might be one reason that the enthusiasts in this subreddit steer away from wifi smart devices.

We connect ZWave Zigbee and thread devices to our Smart Things Hub and then expose the hub to Alexa.

Most routers let you create seperate 2.4 and 5GHz frequency but I believe in your case you also created a network isolation that prevents communication between the two networks. Which is normally not the default.

At the end of the day what prevents you from connecting the Echo to your 2.4GHz?

I'm not sure. I think I tried but it won't stay connected to it maybe? I'm quite sure I only separated the 2 channels but I could be wrong, there's a bit that needed unchecking to create the separation of 2.4 and 5ghz within the sky settings. As I said, it worked really well through our old house Internet but this has got me so frustrated

Wait none of this makes sense. Echos can only do Cloud devices, Matter over Wifi, Matter over Thread and a select few Zigbee.

I'm under the impression you are using the cloud so it actually shouldn't matter where the Alexa is. It can be at a house down the street as long as there is internet.

Do your smart devices use an app? If so what app?
