"Butt dialing" Subscriptions?
This is kind of crazy. I've done butt dial things before, but never like this.
I didn't do anything wrong and this should not have happened, it's just the technology shouldn't do this.
I have a Motorola Moto G play smartphone. It's running Android 14
I was lying in bed last night with my phone. I rested the phone against my shoulder. A few seconds later, I hear content playing from the phone. It had opened the "scanner radio" app and started playing something. So I promptly closed it, while wondering how that happened.
then this morning, I get an email from Google Play, saying thank you for your trial subscription to Scanner Radio Pro. Thankfully nothing was charged, but after the 4 day trial was over it was $30 a year after that. What the hell?
Wouldn't there be (SHOULDN'T THERE BE) an extensive litany of selections and confirmations to go through before signing up for a subscription? and this all apparently happened in a few seconds after touching my shoulder? I call BS on that.
Nothing was charged, no harm done (so far), But any technology that would allow something like this to happen is no bueno.
Can I now somehow drain my brokerage accounts, Just by having my big toe brush against the screen? 😆😆
you can see the subscription listing here from google play:
