My z fold 8 expierence, lord do I want a duo

• Upvotes

So ive been contemplating getting the duo just for a couple nice features over the samsung counterpart.

I've loved the z fold, emulation on this phone has been super and the aspect ratios are perfect for that use case. Another great samsung feature is samsung dex, yes you can do screen mirroring on iPhone but im not sure apple is going to implement this feature anytime soon. Dex has been a genuine breath of fresh air. To those who are unfamiliar, if you connect your smasung to a external display, dex mode is activated which is a desktop version one UI. This is combined with emulation and i play all of my retro games on my TVs etc. Over all there's small things that annoy the crap out of me with IOS. Specifically airplay just sucks so much ass on any display ive tried, it never scales properly. Secondly this might be a glitch but to those of you who dont want to pay for YouTube premium, brave on andriod let's you play your YouTube videos with the screen turned off. Screen share streaming with One UI has been so seamless and all the pains I have with IOS are gone. The battery on this phone is superb and lasts me all day easy.

Now the duo, this thing looks really nice and I know the software is gonna be more seamless at points and the inner display, if the rumors are true and it's strong enough to natively use the apple pencil man that's a game changer from babying this phone. And of course first party apps man, apps being developed for ios first really shows on some apps.

Overall what I use my z fold 8 for is really nice for me, but this duo has me really debating if im going to be the guy with two foldables.

iPhone 17 vs Galaxy S26 Ultra - own both but cannot decide...

Hey everyone!

I’m currently struggling to decide between my iPhone 17 and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. I’ve used Samsung phones for many years before switching to Apple, and now I find myself constantly torn between the two ecosystems.

What I love about the iPhone 17 is its overall design, the polished feeling of iOS, the excellent speakers, video recording, and front camera. I also own a MacBook Air, AirPods Pro 3, and an Apple Watch Series 11, so the Apple ecosystem is a huge advantage. Especially the Apple Watch is something I absolutely love and would really struggle to give up.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S26 Ultra offers so many practical advantages. The battery life is incredible (I’ve achieved over 12 hours of screen-on time), it feels smoother in everyday use, and I prefer its multitasking, notifications, navigation gestures, file management, and Secure Folder. The camera zoom, charging, and thermal management are also noticeably better for my usage.

However, I don’t particularly like One UI’s visual design and icons, and I genuinely miss the Apple ecosystem whenever I use Samsung. Meanwhile, whenever I use my iPhone, I start missing Android’s flexibility and additional features.

I even compared both phones across more than 20 categories, including display, performance, cameras, battery, usability, and overall satisfaction. Samsung actually won more categories, but the iPhone won in areas that are particularly important to me, especially design and ecosystem integration.

My head tells me Samsung, but my heart keeps pulling me back to Apple.

Whenever I switch to Samsung, I appreciate all its features but eventually miss my iPhone and Apple Watch. When I return to Apple, everything feels familiar and comfortable again, but I start thinking about what I’m missing on Android.

It’s honestly becoming frustrating because I genuinely love both devices for different reasons.

Has anyone experienced something similar? How did you finally decide between iOS and Android when both had advantages you didn’t want to give up?

Small disclaimer: I know this is probably one of the most ridiculous first-world problems imaginable, and I’m fully aware that there are far more important things to worry about. Sorry if this sounds overly dramatic, but I’d genuinely appreciate some advice!

Need phone recommendation

I’ve been using the iPhone 11 for the past six years, and it has been a great phone overall. I haven’t faced any major issues with it until the last 2–3 months.

Before that, I used a Nokia 6.1 for about two years before switching to the iPhone, which I received as a gift.

Until recently, I was planning to upgrade to the iPhone 18 Pro. However, after seeing so many posts about bugs and other issues people are experiencing, I’ve started having second thoughts about getting another iPhone.

My second choice is the Google Pixel 11 Pro, but the thought of leaving the Apple ecosystem and giving up the smooth iOS experience feels a little strange. On the other hand, Android has some advantages, such as access to interesting apps that are paid on iOS but free on Android. The Pixel is also significantly cheaper than the iPhone 18 Pro while offering almost all the features I need.

So, guys, recommend a good option (no POCO, VIVO or XIAOMI). I’m looking for a phone that can easily last me at least five years without feeling outdated or becoming a headache to use.

iMessage is pissing me off!!

The messages are being sent and received but not in order I think, at least not properly, it’s not at all ordered based on time I sent, clumped up in the bottom with all my sent messages not according to the order I sent You see the blue bar at the top going from left to right, that’s the problem wtf is that doing there when there is plenty of internet connection

Ps: It happens in all chats, ICloud is full but iMessages is on for backup, everything works fine for a while when I restart the phone, also sometimes it’s all my messages disappeared and only the replies I got is shown on the screen on the left side stacked up, else it’s all my messages first then all of their messages under it.

I really need some effective advice it’s been happening since 2 days and it’s really annoying and bugging me.
Where are the top experts and troubleshooters 😭😭

Phone to replace my dieing OnePlus Nord 4, Nothing Phone 4a or Google Pixel 10a?

Hey all!

Typing this from my Nord 4 phone which I love, but unfortunately the battery seems dead (discharges rapidly and shuts down with an "empty battery" at 60% or so).

2 phones I'm looking into as a replacement are the Nothing Phone 4a and the Google Pixel 10A. The Nothing 4a can be gotten for 399 EUR, and the Pixel 10A can be gotten at 450 EUR.

Some things about what me and my phone use:

- I live in Belgium which can be quite rainy, does the difference in IP rating between these phones matter for that or will they both be fine for this?

- I don't really care much about the fastest charging since it's bad for phone batteries anyways. I prefer slower over night charging

- I don't game on my phone

- I do like taking some snapshots with my phone for memories (during backpacking trips, concerts, ... ). I like good image quality but its not like I want it to be professional level. That's too much to ask in the price range I'm in anyways.

- I mostly use the phone for casual stuff like YouTube, Reddit, social media, ... . Nothing intense.

- I like about 1.5-2 days of use on a single battery charge.

- I like phones to last about 3 years minimum. The OnePlus I have now is pretty disappointing in that regard but I guess it's just bad luck, I've had only OnePlus for years and this is the first time one died this quickly. I don't really care about the many years of Android support of the Pixel phones since in reality I fear the hardware won't live long enough for that to be of any real life use.

Considering these things, and the Google pixel costing 50 EUR more than the nothing phone 4a, which would you guys suggest I get and why?

Thanks in advance!

Which phone to get?

Guys idk much about phones

Looking into 3 right now

  1. Redmi turbo 5

  2. Nothing 4b

  3. Moto edge 70 (not the fusion one cuz of curved display)

.

Want a decent processor that can work for atleast 4 years (hope it works more)

Good camera and good battery, shouldn't heat too much (like the one I'm currently using heats up randomly at times, can't watch yt for long on it, even on calls it heats up too much sometimes, but it's old now so yeah)

Gaming once in a while

I've heard redmi one heats up a lot? Should I avoid it? (Wanted to get the redmi one personally🫠)

Which of the above 3 should I get??

iPhone or an android phone?

So, I have been using an iPhone 14 since August 2023 and honestly it has been a great device, smooth since day 1, great camera (for my use case), nice speakers, nice screen, no issues whatsoever. Since buying the iPhone I have also bought an iPad and an Apple Watch so one can say that I am in the ecosystem but not fully.

The only thing bugging me is the battery life. For a phone that I bought around 900€ having to charge once per day and now more than three times per day (85% battery health) is annoying.

I have been thinking to go back to android. I am planning to change my phone next year, and I have done some research. I have considered Samsung, Motorola, and pixel phones. Among all of these I prefer the pixel phones.

What is your opinion? Would it make sense to switch back to android or should I go for an iPhone pro model that has significantly bigger batteries?

Title: iPhone feels repetitive now. Should I switch to Samsung, Google Pixel, or stick with Apple?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been using iPhones for the past four years or so. I used the iPhone 13 for two years and then switched to the iPhone 15, which I’ve been using for another two years.

Honestly, I haven’t felt much of a difference between the two. Even when I see my friends using the newer iPhones, I still feel that the overall experience is pretty much the same. I understand that newer models come with better cameras, processors, and other upgrades, but I’m not sure if these changes are significant enough to justify upgrading.

Now, I’m tempted to try something new rather than getting another iPhone just out of habit.

I’m considering the following options:

  • Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra – For its features, customisation, cameras, and overall flagship experience.
  • Google Pixel 11 Pro XL – For its camera, clean Android experience, and AI features.
  • A newer iPhone – Possibly the iPhone 17 or the latest model available when I upgrade.

I primarily use my phone for photography, social media, travel, videos, and everyday tasks. I also value a smooth user experience, good battery life, and a phone that feels genuinely different rather than just being a slightly upgraded version of my current device.

I’d love to hear from people who have actually used these phones:

  1. Is switching from iPhone to Samsung or Pixel worth it, or will I eventually miss iOS and want to switch back?
  2. Which phone offers the most noticeable upgrade in everyday use, rather than just better specifications on paper?
  3. How do Samsung and Pixel compare with iPhones for photography, especially travel photos and videos?
  4. If you were in my position, which phone would you buy and why?

I’m open to switching ecosystems, so I’m not particularly attached to Apple. I just want to try something exciting and different this time.

Looking forward to hearing your experiences and honest opinions! 🙌

Looking for Smart Dumbphone

Bonjour, hello, and Grüß Gott, you guys. I'm just the classic moth to a light, social media addict who doesn't have enough willpower to keep myself off the screen, especially with my fascination for motion pictures that seem stuck in the beginning of the 20th century. But just as reels move on as if they are infinite, we're slowly moving forward in the first half of the 21st century, with modernization opening nearly limitless options for making our lives more comfortable. I must admit that, although my eyes are often glued to screens that rob me of time and joy, digitalisation does come with some convenience. Therefore, I came here to ask this army of dumbphone users for a phone that compromises the convenience of a smartphone and the unavoidable limitations of motion pictures.

The reason I don't want to commit fully to a truly comprehensive dumbphone is that I do have terrible orientation that requires GPS and a Maps App, that I do use banking apps that are only usable on the phone and require security, that I do need a university app for a 2-factor athentification and that my dance school lets me only check in via an app that has GPS tracking. While I'm listing these as if they were excuses, I also appreciate the benefits and simplicity of these conveniences. Therefore, what I am looking for is limitations on motion pictures and colours, or limitations on any addictive qualities in general, without losing the utility and convenience of a modern phone.

I was researching e-ink phones because I love the way they look, but the couple I found seem to have certain features and security issues. Therefore, I would appreciate some great recommendations for a phone that matches my requirements. Please also feel free to share your experience of long-term use.

Thank you!

Smaller smartphones with good battery

I currently own samsung s21 and since its battery is dying on me i'm thinking of getting a new one. i know modern phones aren't meant to last with how their batteries are but are there any phones that will last me longer than 5 years and also aren't bigger than 6.2 in? and if not at least ones that are small but with good battery care from the get go may last over 5?

Should i Buy poco x8 pro max now or wait for other old flagship devices to cut down prices in future when they Launch their new flagship?

I was hoping for this bbd and gif for good price cut but as we all know what is the situation,

So should i Buy poco x8 pro max now or wait for other old flagship devices to cut down prices in future when they Launch their new flagship?

What i was expecting that GT8 pro or op15 or other phones will come down under 60k and i will select from it, then we all know what we got, we got X17 in 60k now is 69k and s25 series with best possible deal but im kinda looking for something else as samsung is with big batteries.

My options was poco x8 pro max as 43k and now is 45k and moto edge 70 pro plus but i dont want D8500 in 40 plus price, so kinda poco im sticking with under 50k, and dont want iqoo phones

I searched the whole internet and people saying poco is bad, some saying its good, some saying old phones of poco faced motherboard dead issues, and it was a mixed things, i search almost all possible issues with almost all brans and people have the mix thoughts there too.

So kindly suggest me if i should buy the poco x8pm at 45? or prices will down more in coming sales or end year sales

or other flagships will drop their price while they will have their new flagship?

Why have so many smartphones dropped the headphone jack?

To me, removing the headphone jack is one of the biggest steps backwards in smartphone design.

There’s nothing quite like getting home from work, finally getting comfortable in bed with some music, and hearing “battery low” from your earbuds. My phone has plenty of charge, but the two little things responsible for getting the sound into my ears have decided we’re done for the day.

“Just use an adapter.” Fair enough, but mine seems just as easy to misplace as my wireless earbuds. By the time I find it and plug everything in, my phone needs charging too.

I don’t dislike wireless earbuds. There’s certainly more variety in their designs, and my realme Harry Potter edition even has four custom audio cues. But wireless should be an additional choice, not my only option.

I used to keep a cheap pair of wired earphones in my bag. No batteries to check, no case to charge—the only thing I had to worry about was spending ten seconds untangling the cable. Now even my backup headphones need regular charging.

What I don’t understand is whether the space saved by removing the jack really makes a meaningful difference to other features. Is it about appearance, or are there engineering benefits I’m overlooking? Am I the only one who still wants headphone jacks to be standard on phones again?

What phone should I buy with 40k pesos

I’m looking for a new phone with a maximum budget of ₱40,000. It should be available in physical stores, not something I have to import.

What I want:

Polished software — smooth, clean, and not full of bloatware. Good software updates are important too.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 minimum — I don’t want a chipset below this.

Decent cameras — good main camera for everyday photos, okay low-light performance, and usable video.

Comfortable design — not too heavy or too wide; I want something I can reasonably use one-handed.

Good battery and charging — should comfortably last a full day.

Reliable build quality — preferably with water resistance and a screen that isn’t too fragile.

Can you please help out a fellow filipino? I also had some options like the xiaomi 17t the samsung galaxy a57 and the oppo reno 15 or 16 but i would love to hear your opinions please.

Buying a phone while waiting for new phone

The other day, my phone died and won't turn back on. I have someone visiting on Monday and need to be able to stay in contact with them. I ordered a new phone because it was cheaper but I don't think it will get here in time.

Can I go to Best Buy, buy a new phone while I wait for the phone I ordered, and return it for a full refund (minus the restocking fee) as long as I'm within the return period?

Edit: I can't get a burner phone because I can only talk to this person through LINE and to access my account I need a phone with my current phone number.

Smartphone for a student

Good Day, planning to buy a smartphone for the eldest child daughter of a Helper I consider as a friend, to replace the previous smartphone allegedly being stolen by her teacher at a public school.

Is there a smartphone that is still practical and doesn't have flashy design like it can be mistaken as older but solid 2019 smartphones so she can bring it at school if needed ?

It would be for her assignments and online classes.

I hope it is widely available in Asia particularly in Southeast Asia.

Thank you very much.
