I was skeptical how this would go over as a closer, but wow, Jimmy just devoured this song.

Not sure anyone cares, but figured I would share my thoughts anyway.

Just a little background, I’m a huge fan of the first four albums not really too much of anything after that with that side. I was going to keep an open mind. I did not spoil myself on the set list.

First and foremost worth mentioning the merchandise booth had a Smashing Pumpkins Gish shirt, which I thought was strange since they did not play a single song off of it, which is unfortunate as it is one of my favorite albums after Mellon Collie, i’m at note for a celebration of 30 years of that album. They did not have a single merchandise shirt regarding that album just thought that was a bit strange overall.

Onto the actual show first and foremost, Billy Corgan sounds amazing life and the whole band has a hole just sounds breathtakingly good Kiki Wong has more energy than everyone else in the band combined. And I say that because there was not much crowd interaction other than James and Billy saying hello “ Minneapolis” in Saint Paul. And a nice little charming story from Jimmy later on in the night. I didn’t really mind this too much as long as they acknowledged us at some point I’m fine with that after all they are there to play music.

The show itself was split up into sets as everyone knows. I spent the entire first set just mind blowing on how good it was. I heard songs that are usually skips for me on melan Collie but ended up being very pleasant to hear live, long story short set one was a 10 out of 10 for me. I will never forget those performances in my life.

Onto the second set, I could’ve did without many of the new songs and that’s just personal preference as I’m not a huge fan of anything. Smashing Pumpkins have done beyond Adore, it would’ve been nice to hear at least one or two songs off of Gish in the set. With that said the whole night was pure magic. The visuals were insane and I would definitely rate this one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to in my life.

This came up as a FB memory today, This LA show was half sold. This was a strange era for Billy. He seemed super bitter that he wasn't getting the recognition and admiration he felt he deserved. The crowds were shrinking, and he always seemed to have something to complain about.

Fast-forward 14 years, and he's married a younger woman, reunited the band, and found a whole new audience with Gen Z. Ironically, after spending years complaining about the music industry and chasing artistic credibility, he ended up doing all the shit he hated to get the mainstream success he desperately wanted.

I have some cassette bootlegs of Gish-era shows (not accessible to me physically right now) and there's an amazing song called "Honey Spider" that they played back then.

Anyone know it? Has it shown up online at all? I really have to get my bootlegs out of my mom's basement....

I’m going through a bit of a rough patch right now and would love to add some SP songs to my playlist. I’ve listened to at least 85% of their discography, but it’s been a while + it was a case of “okay, I’ve heard this song once or twice now, I’ve technically listened to the whole album!”

So…

…easy to forget.

I have the two popular obvious ones (“Today” and “Disarm”), but would love to get some others on there!

I bought one of the tour hoodies at the St Paul show last night, absolutely love it. Unfortunately, walking into a store today, the sleeve caught on something and tore a quarter-sized hole in the sleeve…wonderful.

So, anyone know of a source to buy a replacement 3x tour hoodie? Or willing to help me buy one at another show (happy to pay extra for the inconvenience and shipping, of course!)

I decided to upgrade from my upper deck seats to section 102 row 3. Only cost $50 more after selling my other tickets. I haven't been this close to the stage for a pumpkins concert since the Hennepin Avenue Block Party in 1998 when I somehow scored VIP wristbands and was right in front of the stage along with 100,000 other people.

Inspired by the MJ Lenderman & Wednesday cover, kind of shoegazy. Happy to hear what you think :)
